Five dishonored soldiers.
Former Special Forces.
One last mission.
These are the men of Hard Ink.

Trouble just walked into Nicholas Rixey's tattoo parlor. Becca Merritt is warm, sexy, wholesome—pure temptation to a very jaded Nick. He's left his military life behind to become co-owner of Hard Ink Tattoo, but Becca is his ex-commander's daughter. Loyalty won't let him turn her away. Lust has plenty to do with it too.

With her brother presumed kidnapped, Becca needs Nick. She just wasn't expecting to want him so much. As their investigation turns into all-out war with an organized crime ring, only Nick can protect her. And only Becca can heal the scars no one else sees.

Desire is the easy part. Love is as hard as it gets. Good thing Nick is always up for a challenge . . .

Nearly every review is a blamed plot spoiler telling the entire book then bragging how THEY got their book for free for their 'honest' review. Get real, its not an honest review, its a bought review. Stop regurgitating the entire story and ruining it fir other readers. We have to buy our books. We dont get our books for free like you do. I personally like to read a book and not know what happens, not have some rude butthead like you tell me like i am too dumb to read it for myself. Bn, please ban these rude plot spoilers, fine them, limit the amount they can post, but please make them stop. People are sick of them!!!!

I fell in love with everyone in this story. The plot is thrilling and kept me wanting more. Laura Kaye is great at setting the scene. The characters leaped off the pages and I could not put this book down. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with the puppy who she has written with so much personality you can't help but love her. I would have brought her home with me as well. The chemistry between Nick and Becca is smok'n hot. I very much look forward to the next book in the series in February.

I am not sure where to begin. When searching for new books I have looked at this book at least a dozen times and read the description at least that many times. I was just unsure if I would like the romance suspense. OH MY FREAKING GOD!!! what was I thinking, I should have read this book the first time I looked at it. It was fantastic. Nick was very protective even after Becca's dad wasn't so honorable to him or his team. This book shows you that a team that is pulled apart by something bad that has happen can still come together when a person is in need of help. I can't express how much you should read this series and I look forward to the next book in the series... Seriously though.. have to wait until March for the next book ... :(

I started not to purchase this book because of all the long reviews. I am tired of the "enlightened" people telling me every detail of the book and spoilng it for everyone else. It is sad they feel the need to ruin it for those of us that are contemplating the purchase. Evidently they have no one to listen to them outside of their home and feel the need to post windy reviews at B and N. They really need to get a life. This was a fun read with romace and mystery. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this author. There. That about sums it up. You do not have to drag on and on.

Great Story! Suspense, Action, and Romance something for everyone. Nice easy read, which is good because I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next one. Thank goodness it is going to be a long wait.

I am hooked and can't wait for the next book. Becca and Charlie's dad was not what they thought. Charlie sent Becca to Nick Rixley for help. These two went through a harrowing couple of days and they finally started to trust each other. Nick's team and brother and friend were helping them. These guys went through a lot helping Becca and Charlie and Becca and Charlie wanted to help them. Everyone was so great together!!

Not your typical "fluff" romance. I would describe this as more of a mystery that happens to have love scenes. Looking forward to the rest of the series and the eventual redemption for all of the main heroes!

I really liked this first story the best out of the series. Nick & Becca are a good couple. I like how the story continues through to the next books in the series, but beware -- they're addicting!

For a romance novel, the plot is fairly complex and interesting, and something of a mystery story. There are some fairly steamy sex scenes, but not as many as one might expect if one were in the market for erotic romances. Expect frequent use of the f-word and other vulgarities. As a romance novel, it is average. As literature, I would take a couple of stars away from my rating above.

I loved this book! I read a lot in the romance genre, and this one has an exciting plot, characters that I loved, and very hot love scenes. It certainly didn't hurt that the hero in this book sounds like my dream guy... I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

I LOVED this book! Stumbled upon it by accident and stayed up the entire night to finish reading it. Had work the next day but didn't care, it was that good! Nick and Becca were great together! Great chemistry! Wow! However, I do have to say that as amazing as those two were, it is really Jeremy that captured my heart! He was really fun and funny and just so darn lovable. It would be really ok by me if the series got expanded to six to include a story for him. The plot was great too! Excellent suspense and tension. The book has a mystery/problem that gets resolved within a bigger series arc. Nice setup for book two as well. Don't fear, dear readers, there is plenty of romance too! The kind that makes you swoon, sigh and you know ....make other noises too! Happily re-reading this book to erase the bad taste of another novel that was not up to par. As you know these things do happen, but thus one will not disappoint! Eagerly awaiting book 2 next month!

An enjoyable read!  Good story, not one I would normally read but enjoyable despite that fact. I originally read the novella, Hard To Hold On To which hooked me and made me want to start at the beginning of this series. In Hard As It Gets, for me it was Jeremy who stole the show though. I hope we see him again in Hard As You Can even though that's Shane's story. I'm diving right into Hard As You Can next.

I am so sick of the cliffhangers! Are authors so desperate for the dollar that they cannot bring themselves to write a complete story (actual ending included.) This story was so well written that you were immediately living the ordeal right along with Becca. I actually had a nightmare about Charlie and got up at 3:am to finish the book. Imagine my frustration at 4:30am when the ending did not happen!

## Superb read! This was such an enjoyable read. I loved both hero AND heroine which I can rarely say. Both were tremendous and their chemistry was sizzling. I adored this heroine. No whiny, needy woman here. She is strong, capable and so very loving. And the hero Nick was....well....yowza comes to mind. The humor that the author threw in was a delight. Naming the dog was a highlight for me. Laugh out loud funny. And omg, Jeremy (the hero's brother) was "holy sh*t" hot. He loves men AND women, so I sincerely hope there's a hot menage story for him in store. Maybe with Jess and Charlie?? All in all a fabulous book which I will definitely read again. I'm off to read Shane's story.

4.5 out of 5 stars Fantastic book. Great love story mixed with mystery and intrigue with a nice balance between both. I loved Nick and Becca. Nick had a sexy, hard exterior with a wonderful heart, definitely the strong, silent type but really sweet. Becca was awesome! She was a strong woman who didn’t take crap and stood up for herself and the ones she loved. I think Becca is an excellent female lead. Nick and Becca had a huge attraction one another and there was a nice build to them connecting. Great chemistry mixed with lots of sexual tension. I love that there was no game playing between the two of them, it was refreshing. I really enjoyed all of Nick’s friends, the guys who were with him on the Special Forces team. They all have distinct personalities and I'm interested to know more about their backgrounds. I am excited this is the first book in a series and we will get to see more of them.  Excellent ending! There was drama throughout but the end was jam packed and I was on the edge of my seat, it was intense. Because it is the first in the series, some questions were left unanswered but I assume it will tie into the next books. This book was a great introduction to the series!  I enjoyed the descriptive writing and details, I was really pulled in. There were lots of sexy times as well as sweet, tender moments and I enjoyed it all. I also liked the added element of the dog. The overall story had lots of intensity and emotion which had my breath hitching and heart stopping on several occasions! There were a few - just a few - times that I thought things were a little drawn out but I was so into the story I just went with it. What few slow times there were are far outweighed by the intensity and drama. It was an excellent story!  I am officially a fan of Laura Kaye! Can’t wait for the next one. :-)

that I've gotten into the book. It took a couple of chapters, but now that I'm into the story I'm finding it hard to put down. Nick and Becca generate so much heat and I so want them to be together but there's a lot to overcome. Becca has no idea what her father was up to and Nick can't tell her. It's only going to get better from here.

Another book that i would have loved to read had it not been ruined by these obnoxious long reviews. Read the book, write a few sentences and let the rest of us enjoy the book. Why can't BN get better at this? Limit the amount of words to be written about a review.
