About the Author

Rory Ni Coileain majored in creative writing, back when Respectable Colleges didn’t offer such a major. She had to design it herself, at a university which boasted one professor willing to teach creative writing: a British surrealist who went nuts over students writing dancing bananas in the snow but did not take well to high fantasy. Graduating Phi Beta Kappa at the age of nineteen, she sent off her first short story to an anthology that was being assembled by an author she idolized.from this she received one of those rejection letters that puts therapists’ kids through college. For the next thirty years or so she found other things to do: such as going to law school, ballet dancing (at more or less the same time), and nightclub singing, until her stories started whispering to her. Now she’s a lawyer and a legal editor; the proud mother of a proud Brony and budding filmmaker; and is busily wedding her love of myth and legend to her passion for m/m romance. She is the winner of the Rainbow Books Award.

Leaving Me Behindby Sigal Ehrlich Hard as Stone Rory Ni Coileain Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews  Genre: Romance, Sci-fi and Fantasy I really enjoyed the beginning to this book, but somehow the more I read the less interested I became. I’m not sure why really, its an interesting plot, and when it became clear that Kevin was facing problems at work I thought that was going to add to the drama. Well it did, and it worked in well with what had gone before but for me the book as a whole just didn’t hold my attention, and I found my mind wandering instead of being engaged with the story. I eventually skim read the last half just to see what happened. I liked Kevin and Tiernan but didn’t ever feel really connected to them, I was never that invested in whether things went well for them, and for me I need that in the lead characters. I want to feel I care about what happens to them and the story and here I just stayed a somewhat disinterested onlooker. Its not the book, it’s definitely me and not the story, it’s a very well thought out and put together read, but as I’m always saying – not all books suit all readers - and clearly this was just a bad choice on my part. I don’t like Terry Pratchett, David Eddings, Tolkien etc. either – great books, as is this, but just not the sort that I want to read. Stars: Two and a half, just a bad choice on my part, but this will be a five for many so please take note of why it’s not that for me ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers
