PLEASE NOTE! Portions of this book have previously appeared in the serial novel Rock Arrangement.

Chronic loser Rebecca Alton is penniless, homeless, and sleeping on her sisters couch. She needs a job, fast, but in this economy finding one is easier said than done. When she accidentally walks into the wrong office and finds herself auditioning for the role of fake girlfriend and very real babysitter to Carter Hudson, the out-of-control lead guitarist of an up and coming rock band, can she pull it off? And considering who her boss would beCarter's brother and the bands bassist, manager, and undisputed king of bad attitudes Kent Hudsonwould she even want the job?

Rebecca isnt sure. In fact, shes not sure of much in her life, except three things: Kent wants her, she wants him back, and the underlying animal attraction between them may be too white-hot to keep under wraps.

Since the context of this story is rock music I thought I'd write this in pseudo-Grammy format. Ava wins: Best title for a fictional rock band (check out the poem Ozymandius - way cool!) Best character-driven story - though the plot is terrific I love the characters and the way they are built. Lore doesn't use hammers here. The writing is smart, subtle, nuanced. Delightful! Best female lead - Rebecca is clever, funny, neurotic with an extremely small measure of self-esteem which grows with the story. Best use of an ass for male lead - yeah, Kent is a total ass, but I'm in love. As Rebecca says, "(He) had me at the sexual harassment." Best sensual scenes - They are creative and heartfelt. None of the oh so typical mechanical tab A into slot B for Ms. Lore. Best rock novel - maybe best novel overall I've read this year Grammy sweep for Ava Lore! I've this book 3 times and I lol every time. Enjoy!!

This was my first Ava lore read. I truly enjoyed the cadence of the story and witty lead character. Fantastic! The heat was nothing to sneeze at either but wasnt overwhelming to the story. More like the perfect balance of sexy and smart. New fan of the series.

Read this story in one day. From one moment to the next you can't wait to see what happens. I love how the whole band forms a bond with Rebecca. I usually find the female character annoying after awhile, but not Rebecca. Great story. Worth the time. Look forward to reading the next book in series

I loved this one. Great characters that actually kept me engaged in the story AND an interesting plot. Rebecca was funny, sassy, and no pushover. Kent is a moody brooder but Rebecca brings out another side of him that was fun to watch. Their chemistry is off the charts sizzling and I couldn't put it down! Hope the others in this series are as good as this one.
