McCarthy's first book delivers belly-laughs and gut-punches in equal measure, liberally sprinkled with medical knowledge. This is a great book if you are interested in looking behind the scenes into Emergency Medical Services or New Orleans culture, but be warned: it's not for the faint of heart!
