Hard to Forget by Incy Black

A warning ignored...a love denied

Four years ago, Major Jack Ballentyne followed Special Agent Lowry Fisk into a death trap. Fortunately, both of them lived to tell the tale, but when he had Lowry drummed out of the British Intelligence Service for her own safety-and his own peace of mind-he knew she'd never forgive him.

Lowry Fisk knew, she just knew, that the Service had a mole, and it was up to the Assassins, the secret black-ops unit of the Service she and Jack belonged to, to find him. And as the Assassins leader, Jack should have believed her, even though she had little evidence beyond a gut feeling. But when he hadn't, she'd taken it upon herself to find the traitor-and ended up assaulted, shot, and left for dead. Jack had come to her rescue, but it had been too little, too late. Now all she wants to do is forget the attack, the Service, and the sexy, steely-eyed Major with the power to make her feel weak.

But the mole is on the move, and he's coming for Lowry to finish what he started. Jack has to get the stubborn, dangerously gorgeous woman to let him back into her life and allow him to protect her-without allowing her to worm her way into his heart.

Lowry used to be a special agent who was following her gut instinct. She was investigating a dirty agent, and ended up in an extremely horrible situation. She ends up getting raped, shot and kicked out of the Agency. The worst for her is that no one would believe her. She ends up in seclusion and labeled a bit of a nut case. Jack used to be Lowry's commander and had a difficult time with the rest of the crew making fun of her behind her back. Jack has to touch base with her again, but doesn't really want to. There area a lot of unresolved feelings that he has for her. Lowry ends up coming face to face with her rapist and Jack goes off the grid to help her. They work together to take out the bad guys, but Lowry doesn't always trust Jack. Great book. Kept me on the edge of my seat and didn't want to put it down.

Not too shabby... Good read, but was missing something for me in comparison to other romantic-suspense books I've read.

Lowry Fisk, Special Agent with the British Intelligence Service, had broken ranks and went undercover.  She tried to tell anyone who would listen that there was a dirty agent somewhere high up in the Service but no one would listen.  She'd been dubbed a conspiracy theorist.  While undercover, horrible things happened to her and when the Service busted the skin trade op, she tried to go after the man who had hurt her.  He got away and she was shot.  Four years later, no longer an agent, she sees HIM again and she runs.  She runs straight to Jack Ballentyne.  Mistake!  He didn't believe in her four years ago and he doesn't now either, until attempts are made on her life.  Will he believe her when she finally tells him who it is and what exactly he did to her?  Will her father believe her? Jack is a huge a$$ but when he falls, it's a sight to see.  Great story!  Extremely well written.  I was so entrenched in the story I couldn't put it down until the last page was turned.  Bravo Incy Black!  I can't wait to read book one.  This book can definitely be read as a stand alone. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Heart Pounding Action, with Vertiable Bumpy Ride =Alpha Male + Stubborn Female=Dangerously Good Read The beginning of this book played out like a cannon shot a lead ball into my stomach. Dread iced my heart but I was hooked. Lowry Fisk is a heroine who believes in doing what’s right, no matter the risks and naively believed that Jack Ballentyne would come for her, when in the end, he did and blew her world to shreds. 4 years later, a damaged Lowry is back putting her life together while walking a tightrope of feelings when it comes to Jack. Part of her wants him so far under the ground, its not funny—the other half of her wants him under her body . Jack on the other hand has this strange fascination when it comes to Lowry –bloody Fisk. He was and is so fascinated by her that he had her booted out of the service 4 years ago. Jack is tormented by his fantasies of Lowry , of what he had to do to keep her safe but here she is 4 years later and she is back, slowly starting the start to drive him into insanity. On top of it Lowry is thought to be crazy from the incident that happened 4 yrs ago which caused her discharge from the service, which Jack was a part of. This is a horrible incident that Jack didnt help to investigate -all because Lowry was in shock and just wanted it all to end. This is where we see Jack’s inner turmoil. His “the end justifies the means” thoughts.. where we see the real villain spring to life and Lowry vow to take him out no matter what and Jack go totally ALPHA to protect whats HIS even though he hasn’t spoken his feelings to her yet. This books has the twists and turns that you DO NOT see coming, but that is what makes this book totally awesome. I hope to see Jack’s brother get his own book and all other secondary characters get their own books someday soon. This world that Ms. Black wrote about was so vivid that I felt very much a part of. What can I say? Great characters, action packed, wonderful premise, twists, turns, and ending with a good HEA .       My Rating :4.7 stars ****      ****A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review****

I have read the first book in this series and this one was as intense. Right from the start, I was so enthralled with Lowry. Just felt so much compassion and protectiveness for her. She experienced so much trauma and fear along with feeling alone. My heart simply broke for her. And then there was Jack. I don't know how many times I rolled my eyes at him. He was so dang alpha and unbending. But throughout the story he grew on me and I did like him in the end.   The story itself was really good. Nonstop action, many feelings felt and a quick but satisfying end to the craziness surrounding Lowry and Jack.   I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Awesome Book!! This book was awesome! This is book two in the Hard to Series and it kept my attention from the first page, until I finished it. Former agent Lowry Fisk has been running from her past for years, she knows that there is a mole in the agency, and has been staying out of limelight so that the assassins can’t find her. She was on a mission and it went horribly wrong, she was shot by Jack who was a fellow agent because was trying to protect her. After she healed from the gunshot wound she was forced out of the agency on a dishonorably discharge which was lead by Jack. All Lowry wants to do is try and get on with her life, however she knows too much and now the assassins have found her after all of these years. Jack now has to protect Lowry again, and trying to keep his feeling for her hidden. This book has it all, romance, mystery, suspense, and hot agents. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Very pleasantly surprised by this book. Fast paced action and very well written, you can't help but keep reading! The tension and fighting between Jack and Lowry serve to add to the suspense. I loved the true to life feelings and emotions that resulted to misunderstandings between all of the characters.

Gosh - this book certainly lives up to its title - it will certainly be hard to forget and will want to re-read in future. It pulls no punches in this tale of espionage, secret ops and the characters therein. Four years ago the heroine,  Lowry Fisk, believed their was a mole in their operational team, the Assassins. Considered renegade because of these beliefs, she ended up being shot by her team leader,  Major Jack Ballentyne, in an operation that went wrong and then he had her drummed out of the service for her own safety. As part of that operation, unknown to Jack, she was raped and now the rapist is out to silence her. . . .  The story is action packed from start to finish, the characters human- good, bad and not quite sure at times - still remain believable, fraught with emotional entanglements, uncertainties and prepared to do anything to succeed in their ultimate goals. They dynamics between Lowry and Jack are a powder keg just waiting to explode, the tension between them is palpable to the reader and other characters around them. The author is gifted at making the reader empathise with them both, whilst also wanting to knock sense into them at the same time! As you may have gathered, I really thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it without reservation to everyone who likes a true thriller with lots of action, fantastic characters and believable action. This is certainly an author I'll be looking out for in future! Thanks very much to the author and publisher for giving me an ARC to read in exchange for this, an honest review. I hope I've tempted you to read this brilliant book, it certainly deserves to be read by a wide audience IMHO.

Calling all spy fans... This was a sock to gut, rip-roaring thrill ride. Not only did the suspense have me on the edge of my seat, but the sexual chemistry between Jack and Lowry just blew me away. With grit, realistic characters, and Ms. Black's knack for drawing the reader into world of intrigue and espionage...her second book will be a hard one to forget.

'Hard to Forget' is a fast-paced, gritty, sexy story. Full of strong, realistic characters, which showcase this author's amazing, unique voice perfectly. The dark, action- packed scenarios are not for the squeamish. Every unsavoury incident reveals more about Jack and Lowry and those involved in their deadly pursuit. Jack and Lowry are characterised by their mental toughness and emotional detachment. Haunted by a terrible incident in their professional past, their physical scars hide unwanted emotional vulnerability. This makes them wary of the other's motives and unwilling to acknowledge the desire that draws them together. The sexual tension between Jack and Lowry explodes into heat and steam and finally love. A happy ever after hangs in the balance. Will they overcome their inner demons and outwit the deadly menace that pursues them? This story is relentless there is no time to sit back and relax but it's worth the angst. 'Hard to Forget' has the addictive quality of a spy novel combined with the grit and realism of a psychological thriller. I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
