Harmless by Nicole Edwards

He's got a secret...
Roan Gregory, one of the four owners of Pier 70 Marina, has managed to paint himself as a loner in recent months. There's a reason for that. And he's got every intention of keeping that reason a secret. That is, until he no longer has the option.

He's got a secret, too...
Colton Seguine, defenseman for the Austin Arrows, has gotten good at keeping the world from finding out that he's gay. He knows exactly what he can and cannot do. And with whom. That is, until he sees Roan for the first time and all bets are off.

Some secrets are too big to keep.
Temperatures soar when this brooding bad boy gets his first taste of this smoking hot hockey player.

Can Roan and Seg push past each other's defenses? Or -- thanks to the way the cards have been dealt -- will the time they spend together prove to be just a harmless one night stand?

The final book in The Pier 70 series and for me Nicole Edwards left the best til last, yes I was sad to see this series come to end but what a brilliant book to end it on. Now it's time to put my feelings down on paper and it's one of the hardest reviews I have written and I hope I can do this book justice. I'm not going to write a review thats full of spoilers, I'm going to tell you to read this book !!! Roan Gregory and Colton (Seg) Seguine's story is an emotional roller coaster, it's about secrets, trust and most of all true love. How does a top sportsman tell his teammates and the world that he has found the love of his life but that love is another man, is the world of hockey ready for a gay player or will the press not only ruin his career but also ruin his chance of being with his soulmate, will Seg be able to come out or will he try and keep Roan his dirty secret. Will Roan allow his friends that love him unconditionally help him when tragedy strikes and he finds himself raising a baby, a baby that his family think should not be raised by a gay man...... This book made me cry, it made me angry but most of all it made me understand just what a traumatic experience it can be for a gay man admitting to the world that he has found love. Nicole Edwards covers all of these issues with compassion and this book is a beautifully written love story because let's be honest "LOVE IS LOVE" and we all deserve a chance at happiness with the person we choose to love. I thought Speechless was my favourite in this series that changed when I read Harmless. Thank you Nicole Edwards for giving us one of the best books I have read please go and one click this book you won't be disappointed. This book consumed me and there was no way I could put it down til I had read the very last word, If only I could give this book more stars...

5 Star review of Harmless (Pier 70 #4) by Nicole Edwards This is the fourth and final book in the Pier 70 M/M series and I loved it. It's always sad when a series comes to an end but what a way to end it. Every one of these books I have felt was the best yet, but Harmless is now officially my favourite of the series. This is Roan Gregory and Colton Seguine's (Seg) story. What happens when a top line hockey player, who is in the closet, decides to risk it all for the love of a man? Will he be shunned by his family, his team mates, his fans, perhaps fired from his job? That is the fears facing Seg as he struggles to decide what he wants. Will he risk it all for Roan whom he believes to be his soul mate? This book evoked so many emotions in me; I laughed, I cried, I shouted with frustration, I was angry, I was sad and happy. What Roan and Seg go through is so raw at times and it made me realise just how hard life can be for a person who is gay, let alone someone in the public eye. “His mother smiled. “Whose the lucky man who brought my boy out of the darkness and into the light?” That right there brought tears to my eyes, her acceptance was wonderful; but not all conversations go like that. Acceptance is never a given and the fear Seg felt was at times overwhelming. Secrets can destroy so many lives and when Roan dug deep and explored his feelings and came to the conclusion that: “Living without this man wasn't an option. When he wasn't with him, he wanted to be. And when he was with him, Roan never wanted to be anywhere else” That said it all to me. Love is worth fighting for, no matter what!. Roan and Seg's willingness to fight for their happily ever after, overcoming some unexpected challenges, along with a few surprises I didn't see coming, was a wonderful way to end this series. In my humble opinion Ms. Edwards' writing in this particular genre is one of the best around. Her stories are full of love, romance, sizzling scenes that make you hot; the characters are well rounded and developed and her writing is exceptional. Harmless is a beautifully written love story and one I highly recommend. Love is Love!!

Roan & Seg's story is a great addition to the Pier 70 series. There are many laughs and great interaction between all the characters in the series.

What can I say? ... Nicole Edwards stole my heart once again. ROAN and COLTON I found my self so wrapped up in this story that I had a two day hangover. This M/M story will quickly find it's way to the top of your favorites list and stay there. The secrets, the struggles, and the desire will break your heart into a million tiny pieces, then, Nicole will put everything back together, shine it, and serve it to you on a platter of gold. This whole Pier 70 series has been so incredible! Roan & Seg were simply amazing! I love them both so much and just adore them together. They are right up there with Hudson & Teague from Speechless for me now, although I do love all the Pier 70 men. It certainly was no walk in the park for them and they had some pretty steep hills to climb, but thank goodness for perseverance and friends right? There was just so much heart and soul in this story! The way the direction of Roan's life suddenly changes and how he finally opens up to all of his friends and then accepts the help they so freely offer. The way Seg hadn't ever realized exactly what he needed to be fulfilled and truly happy until he met Roan. Their story is absolutely heart warming. I am sorry the Pier 70 series is done. I can say it has been a seriously hot, raw and emotional reading experience for me. I have been reading romance for years, and I would like to say thanks to Nicole Edwards and her beautiful writing for opening my eyes to just how enjoyable and fulfilling reading a love story between two men can be. And also how unbelievably hot and erotic things can be between them. She keeps it real though and shows the struggles gay couples have and that there are different and more obstacles to overcome to get to their HEA and the grace by which they do it. Another fantastically amazing read!

I absolutely love the Pier 70 series and when I was offered a chance to read an ARC for an honest review, I didn't hesitate. My heart broke for Roan the very first time I met him in Reckless, when he professed his love for Cam and was shot down. After that, he became a loner, drawing away from everyone. But now reading Harmless, we get to see all what has been going on with his life. The turmoil of his sister and the rest of his family. And it looks like he had a very memorable one night stand with a very hot hockey player. Colton Seguine, hot hockey player, is very much in the closet. Roan was supposed to be a one night stand but Seg can't get him out of his mind. A chance meeting in the locker rooms leads to another night of the same hot passion that ignites when the 2 of them get together. I don't want to give too much away, you will want to read this book and find out everything for yourself. Roan has a tragedy in his life and his "real" family doesn't help much. But his family of Cam, Gannon, Dare, Noah, Teague, Hudson, Milly and A.J step up to the plate for not only him but for the building relationship between him and Seg. Seg has to decide how much he wants Roan in his life. Is it enough to finally come out of the closet? Is Roan willing to take a chance on his heart getting broken again? He says he hides from no one and will not be Seg's dirty secret. I really loved reading Roan and Seg's, story. Besides the romance and very hot and passionate sex scenes, there is also some laughter, tears and drama. As with all of Nicole's series, I am sad this one is at an end. These men have been very easy to love.

Somehow, I now have a third couple in the running for favorite in the Nicole Edwards universe. For a long time I didn’t think anyone could beat Ethan & Beau…then I read Speechless and got to know Teague & Hudson. Who knew Seg & Roan would give them all a run for their money. Holy cow! These two give me all the feels! I by turns had chills, butterflies, tears, and tons of warm-fuzzies. Although Seg was the one newly coming to terms with his sexuality, he was the one keeping Roan grounded. This book can be read as a standalone but if you’ve read the other books in the Pier 70 series you know Roan can really over think things and gets in his own head too much. Seg always seemed to know when that was happening and would stop Roan from spiraling. I don’t think it’s giving away too much by saying Seg is fully in the closet when this story starts. Eventually he comes out to his mom and it is such a beautiful scene. I cried when he finally said the words “I’m gay”. Not because of some sweeping and grand reaction from his mom or because there is any heartbreak in his revelation. Aside from the nerves you can feel coming from Seg right off the pages, the scene is so understated and the reactions so subtle it’s just real and beautiful and true. Then there is a scene between Seg and Phoenix where Seg discusses what his sexuality will mean when it comes to his job as a professional hockey player. Such an important point is made in that conversation. Again, I don’t want to give away too much so just know I loved what Phoenix has to say on the subject. More than a story of love, this is a story of family. What makes a family? Is it blood or bond or both? You can’t deny that Roan and his friends are a true family. That was very evident in the events of Speechless and even more so here. They will band together and protect their own no matter what. Even when Roan thinks he doesn’t need or want their help or that it somehow makes him weak, they don’t back down. Friends who are like family really know you better than anyone and can see things in your life that you may overlook. This is the last book in the Pier 70 series and Nicole Edwards really saved the best for last. I could not put it down and I didn’t want it to end. This book is really amazing! Plus, she did an overhaul of the covers for the whole series and they are HOT! If you haven’t read this series yet you must do so ASAP. They can be read as standalones but they are all so good why not read the whole series?

This is the last book in the Pier 70 series by Nicole Edwards. The two characters in this book are Roan Gregory, part owner of Pier 70 Marina and Colton Seguin, (Seg), a defenseman for the Austin Arrows hockey team. Roan has been desperately trying to help sister with her drug addiction since their father and step mother gave up on her. He's been hiding behind excuses to keep his friends from getting involved. Seg has been keeping the secret that he is gay from his family and team for years for fear he would lose his hockey career. What what supposed to be a no strings attached, one night stand after meeting in a bar, neither could forget the passion they felt that night. A year later, they come face to face again at the Arrows locker room. Seg reaches out to Roan to try and convince him what they had that night was more than a one night stand but that's the last thing Roan wants or needs. At least that's what he keeps telling himself. Once their secrets are out, they each must decide if what they feel for each other is enough and if their happiness is worth fighting for. I thought this book was the best of the series. It starts off running and doesn't stop. There is a lot going on with the secrets the characters are hiding so it keeps you looking for more. It's so hard to put Nicole's books down once you start reading them. I am sad to see the series end, but I am happy that we will see more of Seg in the Austin Arrows series. Nicole never ceases to amaze me with her writing. I am always looking forward to anything new she writes.

5 stars for - Harmless - the fourth and final book in the Pier 70 series by Nicole Edwards. This has easily been one of my most favorite books written by her to date. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone, but I truly feel you learn more on a whole if you read them in order. This is a beautifully written MM romance between two incredibly hot alpha males so reader discretion is advised. I literally read this book cover to cover in one day - it was that good! Colton (Seg) Seguine is a very large, very built defensemen for the Austin Arrows. Seg has always had issues with his sexuality until he meets Roan. Playing professional sports and being openly gay aren't widely accepted and Seg doesn't want to be the posterboy for the NHL. Roan Gregory has been "out" since he was fourteen-years-old and for the most part relatively happy. While sitting at a bar in Austin he is approached by a sinfully hot man that he quickly realizes is a pro hockey player that everyone assumes is straight. Roan gives this guy the brush off multiple times, but he doesn't seem to want to take the hint. Roan finally agrees to a drink and decides he has nothing to lose and follows Seg to his place. This was such a beautiful story of acceptance, love and family. Loved the whole dynamic between Roan and Seg that was both smoking hot and intense. Then we also got to see all the other couples from the first three books too. Hopefully this won't be the last time we see the Pier 70 crew.

Let me say first, this is the hottest book cover I've ever seen. And the story inside is hotter and takes you on an emotional ride. Roan is part owner of Pier 70 and has a one night stand with a hockey player. When he runs into him a year later after a hockey game. Seg is a pro hockey player and is still in the closet about his sexual orientation. Roan wants one more night but he will not be someone's dirty secret. The more time spent together, the more they fall in love with each other. Both are keeping secrets and it's possible these secrets could tear them apart. Ms Edwards knows how to bring her characters to life. M/M. *Received a copy and voluntarily reviewed it*

Well, it seems Nicole Edwards has finally written a couple to rival Ethan and Beau! Now, I don't make that statement lightly, Ethan is one of my all time favourite books but this story is something else! This book is amazing! It's got everything you could ever want in a story. It's a tale of love and hope, of family and friends, tragedy and despair. If I'm completely honest I didn't think starting this story that I'd be able to connect with Roan. Out of all the characters in this series he was probably the least interesting to me, how wrong was I! That mans full of hidden depth, he's a man who takes the world on his shoulders with little care to his own wellbeing. Colton Seguine, Austin Arrows Hockey Star, is still in the closet. He's become very good at portraying the image he thinks the world needs to see, to the detriment of his own happiness. The chemistry between these two is electric, so intense, they really are perfect for each other and they both seem to just bloom the more time they spend in each other's company. I expected Seg to be quite a tough character but he's was so thoughtful and loving, just what Roan needed to break down his walls. The sex scenes are so hot! The passion of the charts and each scene was fresh and new. Just the right amount of sweet and soft mixed with dirty! You couldn't ask for a better ending to this series, we get to catch up with everyone and your left with a warm fuzzy feeling and total satisfaction.
