Welcome to Harmony Springs where the merchants seek to retain that small town, friendly atmosphere. But when native son and former Rockets pitcher Matt Dawson returns home, he has plans to manage a large scale franchised discount store...one that may threaten several of the town merchants livelihood. Emily Barton is looking to keep Harmony Springs from changing, but she also has another reason to resent Matt's return. He is a reminder of a failed relationship with his brother, Jon, as well as a memorable interlude with Matt himself when Jon betrayed her. But old feelings keep getting in the way of her resolve to defeat his store plans. Can she work out her feelings and still save the town. This is the first in a planned series around the residents of Harmony Springs. It represents a good start to the series with the characters of Emily and Matt and their all too human foibles. I look forward to reading more of this series. Note there are some explicit sexual scenes in the story. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Harmony Springs, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley has a great future as a place for romance to flourish. The stores might not have been doing well before this book but things are on the upswing toward the end. And, romance seems to be in the air. The book begins with a group of women celebrating Emily’s 30th birthday and a dare for her to break her two date rule by asking the first single man to approach the bar out on a date and then complete two more dates after the first. Emily, playing along, asks Matt out when he appears next to her at the bar. Things are NOT rosy on their first date…nope, not at all. Emily and Matt grew up in Harmony Springs. Matt left for over a decade to pursue professional baseball while Emily stayed in town working in many of the shops on Main Street over the years. Both have families that are complete opposites, are competitive and want what is best for the town. How they plan to go about improving Harmony Springs leads to friction that the book revolves around. Matt and Lexi have an adult relationship with caring and sharing but do hit a rough patch for a bit of time before things are resolved. I truly enjoyed this book and enjoyed seeing Lexi and Flynn for a few minutes from “Fly Me to the Moon” - another novella in this series. I have read most of to the Diamond Brides series and eagerly look forward to finding more books by this author in the future. Thank you to LibraryThing for the copy of this book to read and review.
