The articles in this study Bible are very informative and delve into areas not found in other study Bibles. I do have an issue with the editorial errors of this electronic version. Some words have a space between the root an the suffix (inform ative). This can be quite distracting. Other errors are in the words that are used to construct sentences. An example would be the phrase "the Galilee." Sometimes the word is incorrect for the sentence (the use of "he" for "the"). Otherwise, I would purchase this electronic version.

For several years, I used this as my primary one-volume study Bible. An excellent resource helps one read scripture without demanding the reader assume the theological views of commentators.

Having just talked this up in a review of the New Oxford Annotated Bible, I thought I should come over and give this Bible a 5-star review. It's the best study Bible out there for the nonsectarian, academic student. The detail of its commentary is excellent, and the scholarship is up-to-date. If you want to know what serious, non-fundamentalist Bible scholars find in the text of the Bible, buy this one.

This is a good resource for anyone looking to find a concisely but clearly written one volume study Bible which is representative of the current majority opinion among biblical scholars. I find that I do not always agree with the conclusions drawn in the introduction regarding historical and theological matters and judgments about the biblical books but I appreciate the clarity with which these views are summarized. The notes on the texts are extremely useful and helpful for informing one's interpretation of the biblical text. I recommend this as a useful resource for the serious student of the Scriptures. Also helpful is the fact that this edition includes the additional books included in the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Bibles with a good English translation and notes.
