Harvest Song by Karen Finnigan

Transplanting herself from back East to an Idaho apple orchard is a gamble for Elizabeth Sheldon. She's got a lot to learn about apples, not to mention the pair of orphans who inhabit the orchard. She's also promised to a man she knows mainly through letters.
Putting down roots is not in Dr. Zack Danvers' plans, not while he's still tormented by harrowing memories of the war with Spain. But if this little town needs his doctoring skills, he can stay a season...and help that pretty lady who arrived on the same train.
Elizabeth soon faces a dilemma-should she do the honorable thing and keep her promise to one man? Or follow the longings of her heart for another? She has until harvest time to decide.

About the Author

Karen Finnigan is an Idaho-based author. She was born in Canada, but moved to the U.S. at age eight. Her father was a Norwegian immigrant and her mother a Canadian of Scottish-immigrant descent. At age 15, Karen became a naturalized American. That same year she discovered what would become her all-time favorite book-Jane Eyre. From an early age, she loved writing, starting with diaries, letters, and poetry. She earned a BA in English and Education at Western Washington State College.
Karen has written historical romance (most under the pseudonym Karen Lockwood and many published in Berkley's former Homespun series). Her first published novel, Fires of Midnight, won an RWA Golden Heart Finalist award. She's also taught school and worked in the demanding field of technical editing.
Currently, Karen is working on a YA historical novel, the story of an immigrant culture clash set in Idaho a hundred years ago, and a compilation of short stories.
Karen belongs to the Idaho Writers Guild and the Blue Sage Writers of Idaho. She loves rare books, gardening, raspberries, chocolate, and Viking lore.
