Snuggled close to his brother and seven sisters, Harvey was happy. He felt contented, his tummy was full, and he was tired from his day of play. "Mmmm, sleep time, my favorite time of day", thought Harvey. Little did he know, all that was about to change, and this would be the very last night that he would spend with his doggy family.
The next day started out to be just like any other. Yawning, waking with sleepy eyes and one of his sisters treading on him, Harvey knew-the race was on. Breakfast! Who could make it to Momma Dog first? Harvey's brother, Milo, was already there. Harvey barged straight in, wriggling between his sisters, Molly and Suzy; he found a place and hungrily started suckling the warm, sweet milk. "Mmmm, breakfast time", thought Harvey. "My favorite time of day!"
All the other puppies were in the garden long before Harvey and his little sister Polly had finished their breakfast. Polly was through the door first, followed closely by Harvey, who was desperately trying to hang on to her tail. Soon all nine puppies were playing rough-and-tumble in the garden. The grass was soft and smelled sweet as Harvey rolled over, allowing his sister Sophie and brother, Milo, to "pin" him. "Playing the pinning game, this", thought Harvey, "is my favorite time of day!"
"Puppies," Harvey heard the lady call. "Come and get it." That meant only one thing-lunch! Nine small bowls were set in a line; each had an equal quantity of puppy food. Harvey ate. He hadn't realized just how hungry playing had made him. "Mmmm, lunchtime, my favorite time of day," said Harvey.
