About the Author

Literary Sleuth and world creator Frank Beddor dared to expose the true story of Wonderland in the New York Times bestselling young adult trilogy The Looking Glass Wars. To satisfy the awakened curiosity of his readers he continued to tell the parallel adventures of Royal Bodyguard Hatter Madigan’s search for the lost princess in the graphic novel series Hatter M. He lives in Los Angeles.

Adrienne Kress is a Toronto-born actor and author of the internationally published and award winning children’s novels Alex and the Ironic Gentleman and Timothy and the Dragon’s Gate, as well as the young adult novels, The Friday Society and Outcast. In late 2015 her essay appeared in the non-fiction anthology The Secret Loves of Geek Girls and in the fall of 2016 she will be releasing the first book in an upcoming middle grade series, The Explorers Club.

I have known Frank for some time and was able to score an ARC from him at Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest recently. I am a huge fan of anything Alice in Wonderland and fell in love with the Looking Glass Wars saga. I have also read all of the Hatter Madigan graphic novels. So, I was very excited to learn he had written the first of the prequels into the world of Hatter Madigan. For those that have not previously read any of the earlier books, this Wonderland uses imagination as the Without too many spoilers, this book begins as Hatter enters his first year at the Millinery, the school that trains future Milliners (spies, royal guards, R&D). We spend a short time at the beginning learning that his Milliner parents had disappeared years earlier leaving Hatter and his brother to be raised at the school. In many ways this book reminds me of the first Harry Potter as he enters the school and begins meeting his classmates and instructors while being introduced to the basics of what it will take to become a Milliner. The story follows Hatter, his friends and enemies through a series of classroom events and mini adventures as they unravel the secrets to a new device used in their training – The H.A.T.B.O.X. Overall, this is a very good story and I am sure the series will continue to be successful.
