Tamara Thorne clearly knows how to write a horror story. "Haunted" combines scares that will send chills up your spine, but also places the characters in erotic places. You;ll find yourself enjoying the book because it really grabs you right from the beginning. The book also clearly defines the history of Body House, and combines it with the present. The characters are great, and the chills get more chilling. This one is a must read.

This was the first book that I read from author Tamara Thorne. I enjoyed the book. It kept you turning the pages, knowing that you needed to put it down, but you had to find out what the next page would bring. I enjoyed it.

My wife and I both loved this book. This is the one that started our Tamara collection. Within this book you will find many tantalizing visuals, lively and not so lively characters, and just a wickedly perfect story set in a memorable location.

July 6, 2000HauntedTamara ThorneWOW!!! I discovered Tamara Thorne completely by accident by perusing horror titles on Amazon, and the premise of the story attracted me, of course (haunted house). Well, it was even better than I expected. The brief description on Amazon is as follows:"Hoping for inspiration for a new novel, David Masters and his teenage daughter visit a spooky Victorian mansion that has a grisly past and witness strange occurrences that erupt in a full-blown, terrifying haunt." That doesn¿t really do it justice at all. The ¿spooky Victorian mansion¿ (sounds so Goosebumps, doesn¿t it?) is Baudey House, the notorious site of two horrendous massacres. The primary protagonist, David Masters, is an author who plans to set his new book in the house (or one like it), so he and his plucky teenage daughter move in amid all the rumors of its being haunted by its former, long-ago owner ¿ a Madam by the name of Lizzie Baudey (hence the house¿s nickname, ¿Body House¿). I REALLY liked this book! It¿s the best I¿ve read so far this year. I¿ve looked at other Tamara Thorne books on Amazon, and have just bought another one (Moonfall). I think I¿ve found my new favorite author! I don¿t remember being this excited about a writer since Barbara Michaels, and that¿s really saying something.

I finished reading Haunted by Tamara Thorne. I had worries that it would be terribly cliched. The opening scenes are of a writer coming to town to live in the local haunted house. It's a premise seen repeatedly on TV movie of the week sort of things. Thorne did a good job of setting it apart from the crowd though. The voodoo tie in with the dolls was an intriguing touch. Although, I think those familiar with the Vooduin religion would probably cringe a bit. There were some contradictory plot holes that I won't go into so as not to spoil it for others. As far as ghost stories go it's a good read. My favorite is still The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

A real page turner

1161 pages I said wow but the lines are double spaced so it reads like a 500 page book. The author did a great job adding in some laughs. With a teen around it was perfect. Loved the doll theme. Went a little overboard for me about the sex but I am not looking for that in a book. It was a ghost book.

It's common knowledge that Baudy House is haunted, haunted by the ghost of Christabelle. Once a house of ill-repute it was the scene of two mass murders. Locals shun the place, but it is exactly what author David Masters is looking for to help inspire him to write his next big horror novel. Despite dire warnings about the house he moves to Baudy House with his reluctant daughter Amber. Almost immediately strange things begin to happen. Strange cold spots appear suddenly that threaten to envelope and suffocate both David and Amber. Christabelle also makes her prescence known with the sultry scent of jasmine, followed quickly by the rot of decay, and comes to taunt David in his dreams. Christabelle has an unholy plan to resurrect herself and it is up to David and his friends to stop her, with a little help from the ghost of Christabelle's mother. *******REVIEW: I loved this book. It really sucked me in and I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning just to finish this book. I found it very entertaining and eery. The voodoo aspect was a nice touch. Can't wait to read more of Ms. Thorne's books!

This book held me captive as soon as I opened the first page. This is not your ordinary ghost story and the characters are so entertaining. Lots of vivid scenes and scenery within. This book was the beginning of my Tamara Thorne collection. Nothing she has written has let me down.

When I first started reading this book, I thought, 'Oh, no, here we go...' It starts out with a plot and circumstances that could have easily degenerated into an overly stylized nightmare. To my amazement and enjoyment, it never did! The plot was handled very well and I could not put the book down, literally. It is very gripping, suspensful, and the ending wraps up well. I would like to see a prequel to this book!

I could not put this book down! It has everything from a seductive and sadistic spirit to a headless wondering violent ghost. If you enjoy chilling tales of the other world, stop looking. You have found it! Cant wait to read her other books.

This was one of the most enjoyable reads I have had in a long time. From the first line to the heart-pounding climatic ending, I could not put the book down. The characters came alive and so did the dead!

An erotic and suspensful novel. It will make your skin crawl one minute, and have you laffin the next. Author did a superb job of creating and developing characters, and wonderfully mixed horror with romance. You actually feel for these characters and the pain they endure. FIVE STARS

I could not put this book down, I read doing laundry, cooking, housework, during lunch at work. I had to read this book from start to finish. This book kept me wanting to put other things on hold until I finished it. I am now going to read her other book Moonfall & I hope it is as captivating as this one was.
