Heather Long lives in Texas with her family and their menagerie of animals. As a child, Heather skipped picture books and enjoyed the Harlequin romance novels by Penny Jordan and Nora Roberts that her grandmother read to her. Heather believes that laughter is as important to life as breathing and that the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus are very real. In the meanwhile, she is hard at work on her next novel.

Enchanting Elf Helps a Marine Discover His Lost Christmas Spirit For the past year, Marine Sergeant Ryan (aka. Rebel) Brun, a bilateral, below the knee amputee, was recuperating at Mike’s Place. Under the watchful eye of his care nurse, Nöel Torres, who was not afraid to deliver tough love when he refused to comply with his treatment, Rebel’s recovery progressed. His love of Christmas was lost, however, along with his legs. In Have Yourself a Marine Christmas, we learned that Nöel became the person Rebel trusted most, even when he reacted to any mention of Christmas like an angry bear. With a healthy dose of patience and compassion, Nöel helped Rebel move to an independent living apartment and their relationship became more intimate. Nöel feared that he was simply attached to her because she was his nurse. Rebel assured her that he was attracted to the woman she was - the only one who saw him as a whole man, not a disabled one. Heather Long’s talent in creating tortured, yet fully redeemable, multi-layered characters was evident in her development of Rebel. Even though he battled his own demons, he was able to help another wounded warrior begin the healing process, in the true spirit of those who have worn the uniform. Nöel and Rebel’s individual and shared vulnerability was beautifully crafted. She found a man who loved her and he found his Nöel – the one who renewed his Christmas spirit. Their yearlong connection and building passion culminated in steamy, imaginative, sultry scenes that are Ms. Long’s specialty. Fans of the Always a Marine short story series will recognize cameos by beloved characters Cara and Derek from Marine With Benefits and Luke and Rebecca Dexter from Once Her Man Always Her Man. As with the rest of this holiday collection, proceeds from this book will benefit Toys for Tots. Please buy this book and give it to your friends. Pay Rebel and Nöel’s story forward, as a reminder of the true spirit of the holidays.
Have Yourself a Marine Christmas is Book 4 in the Always a Marine Holiday Series. Ryan “Rebel” Brun is a marine recovering from losing his legs to an IED at Mike’s Place. This story occurs a little over a year after Rebel was injured. He has always had the Christmas spirit but not so much this year. Noel Torres is his care nurse. She has watched over him, bullied him and held his hand when needed to get him through this and ready to be on his own. This story was really filled with Christmas spirit. It had some sad and frustration parts but you could really feel and understand what Rebel was going though and what Noel felt as she tried to help him. It was great to see how strong their relationship became as they struggled together to overcome their limitations.
This is a holiday story with spirit. Losing his legs to an IED couldn't keep Rebel down but associated memories have played havoc with his love for the holiday. Can Noël help him find his way back or will it take a little Chrissy Carol? Like all of Heather Long’s Always A Marine stories this one will make you feel and think and laugh and sigh. Take a stubborn Marine and an even more stubborn nurse add in some chemistry and some seasonal spirit and you have Have Yourself a Marine Christmas. If this book doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, check your pulse.
