Never trust the wrong man, especially with your heart. But how does one know ahead of time he is the wrong man?

In the case of innocent vicar's daughter Faith Halstead, governess to a middle class family with a marriageable son, one only finds out he is a cad after it is too late. Now she is alone in the world, a fallen woman, facing a bleak and uncertain future.

While leaving London in disgrace, a chance encounter on the train lands Faith in front of the darkly dominant Duke of Buckingham. He is in search of a woman to serve as his slave at an upcoming Ruttingdon Club house party, and the shy, modest young woman has unaccountably captured his attention.

Desperate for any excuse not to return home to her harshly judgmental father, Faith rashly promises to serve as the duke's absolute slave for a week, alone with him at the secluded Ruttingdon Hall.

Will his dark and brutal desires and the oftentimes sweet pain he inflicts upon her ripe body drive her away, or will the awakening desires in her heart seduce her into staying longer with him – perhaps forever?

Publisher's Note: This book contains adult, consensual spanking and discipline, and graphic descriptions of sexual activity, including breath play in the form of choking. If such material bothers or offends you, please do not purchase.

About the Author

I'm Louise Taylor, and I love writing historical romantic erotica. I have three novels published in my Victorian Vices series, and am in the process of releasing book three of my Ruttingdon series. I've also contributed to some anthologies. All my novels will be published by the lovely people at Blushing Books.

All my books have elements of power exchange, spanking and BDSM, but none of my heroines are weak-willed or easily dominated—they make their men work for their love!

I live on the beautiful Welsh coast, and I love walking the cliff tops and visiting some of our wonderful historical ruins. I get my best ideas when I'm in the great outdoors and you can usually find me chasing after the piece of paper I've just scribbled my notes on!

I live in a Victorian house with wonderfully high ceilings and no central heating; thank goodness for my fabulous fireplace. I'm owned by Alfred The Great, an enormous tom cat with very decided ideas about who gets to sit where on the sofa and how long I am allowed to stay in bed in the morning!

This author has such a way with spinning her writing into tales of love, even with the some of the darker aspects of BDSM in them! I love it!! I read the first two Ruttingdon books and loved them, they were right up my alley as to the erotic scenes and spankings it depicted. Now, this new story about Faith and Michael, the Duke of Buckingham, is a story of the Duke's desire to have true master/slave relationships with his women. Through the mix up of Faith arriving at his home, he desires her, and as desperate as she is, she takes him up on his offer to be under his complete control, for a price of 10,000 pounds! (She does add a few changes to his usual agreement, which just adds to how much you love Faith in this story)! As the week of training Faith goes on, the reader really starts to see the changes in both characters. There is some angst, confusion, and some doubts along the way. The book ends, as it is only part 1, with Faith having to decide whether or not to stick it out for the whole month. I received this book from the publisher for an honest review, and for a genre that isn't even my favorite to read about, I can honestly say I can't wait for part 2!!

Loved it! You felt the humiliation and pain as Faith was walked out of her job for sleeping with her employer’s son who was not a gentleman. In a time where reputation was everything, Faith meets the Duke. He normally prefers much a more experienced submissive but she intrigues him. He makes her a proposition to be a slave and train with him for an event that he is hosting. The entire house is designed for privacy and pleasure. His needs go much deeper than spanking. Will she survive the week? Is it all about the financial security he offers her if she stays for the month? Will she realize she can never go back to the vanilla world? This is one of the most erotic books I have read in a very long time. I want MORE!!! (Book received from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.)

ON THE ART OF SLAVERY, BY AN ENGLISH GENTLEMAN I enjoyed this brilliant story that is well-written with the storyline and its characters. It is detailed to the point that a reader can envision the sights, sounds, and activities. The story revolves mainly around two main characters, Faith Halstead and the Duke of Buckingham. Faith has been thrown out of the house where she worked as a governess after being caught in a dalliance with their adult son. Traveling back to Birmingham in disgrace to her vicar father she meets Helen Monkton, a courtesan on her way to audition for a very important gentleman. A mix up in a noisy train station has Faith taken not to her hometown of Birmingham but instead to meet the Duke. He is enthralled with her innocence, her blushing, and her boldness and decides he wants her and makes her an offer she decides to accept under contract. The plot has a fallen woman, Faith, who is more innocent and shy, but curious. She is not forced, coerced, or tricked in any way to accept the contract and even negotiates herself, which actually gains her respect from the Duke. The story covers the first week of this Master/Slave relationship; it is explicit in details that are dark and depraved behavior, with multiple harsh punishments for his pleasure, of lessons in sexuality, and of Faith giving complete control over to Michael. The agreement is a contract of one month for ten thousand pounds, but after one week of intense training, if either one decides to end the contract, she will leave with five thousand pounds. What will happen when they reach the end of their audition week? Will they continue or part company? “What he wanted was both illegal and immoral, and totally reprehensible. It was disgusting; it was horrific; it was –Arousing.” “This new slave was truly new to this world, and she interested him. Her reactions were real, not the faked or forced motions of veterans to whom the sport had lost its novelty.” “She was already trying to detach herself from her body’s natural responses to pain.” “In the time he had her, though, he would have her, body and soul.”

Since Faith was obviously a new character, I enjoyed this as a stand alone book, although I plan to read the first two in the series. This story is one of discovery; Faith discovers the pleasures of the body and her desire for pain and submission, while Michael discovers his need for improvement as a Master as well as that his pleasure is heightened by Faith's innocence. The journey through the first week of their Master-slave relationship is well-written. Both characters are complex and conflicted as one would expect. There are many BDSM elements included in the story with an emphasis on bondage, humiliation, and control. The subtitle of volume 1 made it no surprise that the book ended before the conclusion of the plot. I'm looking forward to volume 2.

Having Faith is an excellent addition to The Ruttingdon Series. Faith Halstead is a governess to a middleclass family and a vicar’s daughter. In an instant her life is ruin and she’s a fallen woman. Peter told her he loved her and wanted to marry. All lies that she had believed. Her innocence was given away to a cad and he was one who never even looked back at her. Thrown out of town on the first train, at least the seats were first class. A chance meeting on the train with Mrs. Monkton, a mistress of all things, has Faith meeting up with the dark dominant Duke of Buckingham. The story of Faith and Michael, Duke of Buckingham runs dark and deep with lots of twist and turns. The story for them starts with a contract, being call Slave and calling him Master. Then a drug induced sleep to Ruttingdon Hall where everything is not as it seems but a few whips, chains, and dirty talk… all in a pain and passion kind of way. Louise Taylor magnificent in describing the world around Slave and Master, down to the little bits her Master gives her to eat out of his hand. The heat level is out of this world. With each new room the Master unveils to her the heat level goes up another notch and by the end we’re off the rector scale. I highly recommend this book. If you like a book that’s a scorcher with the BDSM element then this one is for you. I’m giving it 5/5 stars. I received an ARC copy for my honest review

Another wonderful historical romance in the Ruttingdon Series. Faith is a young governess who has been wronged by the son of her employer, and dismissed from her job. A chance meeting, and an accidental mix-up, leaves her in the home of the Duke of Buckingham, who had been expecting a professional courtesan, but decides he likes the innocent young woman who has accidentally ended up at his home. She agrees to be trained by him for a large sum of money – and the description of that training, which includes sex and BDSM, and their growing interest in one another, make for a very interesting story.

I received an ARC copy by the publisher for an honest review. I haven't read the first two books in the series but enjoyed this book immensely. I think I enjoyed this book the most because it went through there different processes that both the Duke and Faith went through in their relationship. The realization that yes I do like both the pain and the pleasure is always an eye open for many. Of course, I am with most of the readers- what's next? This can't be the end of Faith and the Duke. Can't wait to read more!!

I've read all of Louise Taylor's books and I never have been disappointed and now I can add this book. I won't repeat the story as the overview and other reviews cover it. It was well written with an excellent storyline and the characters were deeply explored as to their feelings and emotions. There was BDSM, D/S learning to submit and a strong alpha Dom. It was an exciting page turner and hard to put down. Now I have to wait for the final book to see if there is a happy ever after! I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review and the thoughts and opinions are mine.

I was provided a free copy to review but had already read the first 2 books in the series and this one fits right in with those two. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3rd book in this series and am looking forward to the next book. If you enjoy the master/slave dynamic of this era, then this should be on your "to read" list. The Duke is very clear about what he wants, and what he expects from his new slave. She find much that she didn't know about herself. Hot and exciting and I want to know how this turns out.

Having Faith is the third book in the Ruttingdon series, but can be read as a stand alone. I had not read any of Louise Taylor's books before this, but I am going to go back and read the first two in this series. Faith finds herself a fallen women, on a train, being sent home to her clergyman father. Faith befriends a mistress who is on her way to audition to be of service to a Duke, Mrs. Monkton, on the train. By accident, Faith ends up in the coach that was to be for the mistress. Faith accepts the offer from the Duke for Faith to replace the services of Mrs. Monkton, as a slave. We get to witness the one week trial between Faith and the Duke, and how she comes to embrace the rough handling the Duke gives her. We also see how the duke comes to care for Faith in part 1. I am very much looking forward to part 2. I have received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Having Faith is the third book in The Ruttingdon Series but it can be read alone. I really enjoyed this unique book. I give it 4.5 stars. Ms. Taylor has brought the master/slave dynamic to the late 1800s. Faith is a broken-hearted governess who , after being thrown out of her employer's home under scandalous circumstances, ends up in the Duke's home being propositioned to be his slave for an amount of money that is hard to turn down. Faith doesn't understand her body's responses that the Duke is eliciting and her strict upbringing and the time-limited nature of the contract tell her to resist becoming emotionally involved. I enjoyed that the author alternated between Faith's and the Duke's point of view. Faith's motivations were more explained than the Dukes and I would have liked to have known why the Duke was so hard. I really enjoyed this book. It ended on a cliff hanger and I can't wait to see what happens with Faith and the Duke.

I received this ARC book free in exchange for an honest review. The only thing keeping this rating from being 5 Stars is the bold step by the author of choosing to have a cliff hanger ending! I almost screamed out loud. I go to work and live my life for suspense and unhappy endings! I expect happy closure, all tied up in a neat bundle! Having said all of that, I am only so upset because I became entranced and intrigued with the experiences of Faith and Michael. The narrative is so clear I felt I could see and feel their world; I certainly learned a few things I did NOT know! I got sucked into their hopeful feelings for each other. Well done, interesting, detailed, steamy bdsm play; loved it and will read part two but am still a little peeved :)

This book was amazing. Faith has just had her world turned upside down. She is being sent back home to her vicar father after being found in a compromising situation. As fate would have it she never makes it to her destination. Instead, she meets the Duke of Buckingham. He has a proposal that can change her life forever. The story was fabulous. She, a novice, learns at the hands of an expert the BDSM lifestyle. I loved the fact the author gives the main characters' points of view throughout the story. I enjoy reading what each character is feeling and thinking. I couldn't be more pleased with the characters, storyline, or settings. I am impatiently waiting for the next book to come out. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Having read the first 2 books in Taylor's Ruttingdon Series, I looked forward to the third volume and was not disappointed. It is not necessary to read the first 2 books. Having Faith stands on its own. Connecting shy, innocent Faith, with the handsome, but extremely dominant and kinky Duke of Buckingham is done through a series of reasonably plausible coincidences. Once they meet, he offers her the position of "slave" for a week, possibly a month. They even draw up a contract, which seems amazingly 21st century, but in context, it works. The characters of Faith and the Duke are well drawn and developed. Motivations for both are clear. Faith initially accepts the Duke's offer because the money she will earn will set her up almost for life. The Duke becomes taken with the idea of taking an almost virgin and training her. I particularly like the chapter epigrams from "On the Art of Slavery, by an English Gentleman" which seem to come from a guide the Duke decides to write. The BDSM and sex scenes are explicit and very well done. They are frequent (after all, Faith is learning to become a slave and needs lots of instruction), but not repetitive. The story ends, not with an HEA, but with the first chapter of the next book, which Taylor's website says will be released in early September. Her comment is something to the effect that the story got too long. So Having Faith is really the first half of the book. I look forward to the second half with bated breath. I read this not quite in one sitting, but almost.
