Terry creates the most incredible flights of fantasy - in this case, fae-tasy - with her books. For now, he wanted to help Ena escape the dragon fae king's wrath. As soon as Prince Grotto learned what she was about to do in the worst way. The reason she was in this mess was because Brett had helped take Princess Alicia prisoner. As Alicia's reward for saving the Princess, Alicia's grandfather had declared that Ena would wed Alicia's cousin. He was a dangerous dragon fae. Sure Ena would become a Princess if she were to wed Prince Grotto. Brett also knew that the fae intended to use her for her special skills and terminate her when she proved useless. Brett wasn't sure how to help Ena move her gold and staff to somewhere safe. Hopefully, in the Hawk Fae kingdom. They didn't have U-Haul trucks in the fae world. She was a dragon and that meant she wasn't leaving without her horde of treasure. Linda's Thoughts: HAWK FAE by Terry Spear is another wonderful addition to Terry's World of Fae series! This one seems to serve as more of a transition from the last book, DRAGON FAE, to the next book, PHANTOM FAE as the ending is rather abrupt and there's a cliffhanger of sorts which is an anomaly for the books in this series. I missed that there wasn't a satisfying ending, but that's ok, as I already have PHANTOM FAE queued up to go on my phone! In my opinion, this book would not work well as a standalone, as this particular storyline and characters were introduced in the last book, DRAGON FAE. Whereas the former books all worked well as standalones, I believe that the reader needs to be familiar with the story and the characters from the first book, THE DARK FAE, for full enjoyment of this storyline. So... if you want to jump into the series, and you don't want to read all the prior books, at least read the first book before starting fifth book. If you do it that way, you will not be lost in the current plot. Truly, every book in this series have been endearing treats that I can see myself listening to over and over again. For your maximum enjoyment, I'd highly recommend you start from the beginning as the series is best read in order. As HAWK FAE begins, dragon shifter fae Ena is making preparations to flee her castle in the Dragon Fae kingdom with her horde of treasure and her staff of faithful misfits. She is leaving because the Dragon Fae king had decreed that Ena would wed the evil Prince Grotto. Ena is vehemently opposed to marrying the Prince, so her only choice is to leave and find refuge in the Hawk Fae kingdom. However, the trip will be fraught with danger and it will not be easy. This was truly an exciting, action-packed installment as it included a shipwreck, No Man's Land, vampire fae, freaky sand snakey creatures, multiple sword fights, cliff-side rescues, and much, much more! If you love fairies and YA fairy tales, I highly recommend that you delve into Terry's delightful World of Fae series! This is a series that you can enjoy with your children or grandchildren. It's perfect for the young and old alike! LOL! I'm in my sixties and am obsessed with it! My full review is posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. Please check it out there! 4 Wine Glasses!

It should be mentioned somewhere whether or not this is the first book. While it may be completley obvious to some, I really didn't know. I can hope it is though.
