I was provided a copy of Hazard of Shadows in exchange for an honest review. After reading The World Below (Goblin King Book 1), I moved directly to Hazard of Shadows. Here’s the thing; if you loved The World Below, you would probably really enjoy Hazard of Shadows. For me, The World Below was just good; I gave it 3 stars. When I got into Hazard of Shadows, I was looking forward to the story progressing. Elizabeth’s quest to find her father, something… Instead, I got 280 pages of character building; I found it dull, and felt it drew on forever. I kept waiting for the story to start; unfortunately, it didn’t until the end of the book. I felt there was just too much in this novel that wasn’t needed. It didn’t move the plot along and just bogged the story down with a lot of details. In general, I don’t care for this the type of book. I would have enjoyed the plot moving forward and less character building. It seems like we really didn’t get anywhere in this story; where we did get, happened after HOURS of reading to the very end. I still like the characters, Mitch and Rosie; but I’m not so sure about Elizabeth now. I almost like the interaction Mitch has with his friends in the real world, more than with any of the fantasy creatures. I’m still not a fan of the Goblins; I can’t really understand them, and they are quite disgusting. Overall, the book was OK, but could have been better so I give it a 2....Sara
