About the Author

Dr. Paul Liederman graduated with Honors from Dartmouth College, where he received a senior fellowship to do independent research during his senior year. He graduated from Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. Following residency, he was a psychiatrist in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. After the Army, he spent a year at Duke University as a Special National Institute of Mental Health Fellow. Later, he was an Assistant Professor and then a Clinical Assistant Professor at USC Medical School. He entered private practice and began to work extensively with abused foster children, teenagers, their abusive parents, and adults who had been abused as children.


Dr. Farideh H. Rezai is an Honors graduate of Pars College in Iran. She continued her education in England and then in the United States where she received a Ph.D. in psychology in San Diego. She is specialized in clinical psychology.

Dr. Rezai has practiced as a therapist and has worked with adolescents, adults, and families with various emotional and psychological problems for 15 years. She has taught as an Assistant Professor and Graduate Teacher in two universities in San Diego. She also has served as a consultant in program development of dual diagnosed adult substance abusers in San Diego and in Orange County. Dr. Rezai has conducted groups with abused adolescents and adults for several years. She is in private practice in the San Diego area.
