Can a brand-new nurse heal two men's hearts?
Evie Parker's first night as an ER nurse doesn't exactly go as planned. She's hoping to start her new career with a bang, maybe make some friends, and maybe impress the hot, but ill-tempered, Dr. Trent Williams. But when the rebellious bad boy, Heath "Mac" MacGregor, shows up in the ER, drunk and cut up from a bar fight, Evie's night dissolves into drama. The huge ex-marine is spoiling for another fight, but it soon becomes clear that his drunken visits are a regular thing. And what he really wants is to get a rise out of the disagreeable doctor.
Mac hasn't been the same since returning from the war. A string of bad decisions has left him with nothing--and has cost him the man he'd once thought he'd loved. Trent had loved him back--why, Mac didn't know. But it wasn't long before he'd found a way to drive Trent away too. Every time he sees him, he thinks maybe he can fix things. And when Mac meets the curvy little nurse with the big heart, he's determined to get both of them in his bed.
As for Trent, all he ever wanted to was to help Mac heal. But nothing he did was ever enough. He wishes he could hate the man who'd not only broken his heart but stomped it to bits. But he can't forget that part of Mac that he knows loved him back. And he can't put it behind him when the bastard keeps coming into his ER drunk and bloodied, ripping open the wounds in Trent's heart over and over again. But maybe Evie is right--maybe passion and love can heal their broken hearts, and maybe the heat that sizzles between them is part of the cure. But when Mac's bad decisions come back to haunt him, it puts their love--and his life--at risk. And it might just be too late...for anything.
