From growing levels of obesity to an aging population, how should we respond to the national and international challenges in public health today? In a climate of tightened health funding and greater emphasis on individual responsibility, what is the role of health promotion?

Mary-Louise Fleming is Professor and Director Corporate Education, Faculty of Health, QUT. She has extensive teaching and research experience in public health and health promotion and was the co-author of Health Promotion. Louise Baldwin is Senior Research Fellow, Faculty of Health, QUT. She has more than 20 years' experience in health promotion in Australia.
