About the Author
Robert Shaw has served numerous congregations: twice as an installed Pastor, twice as a trained Interim Pastor, and innumerable times as a guest preacher. Currently he Pastors a congregation seeking intentionally to meet the needs of their community. The stress and joy of leading congregations through change continues to enrich his life. The characters in his novels would feel at home in these congregations. The Reverend Shaw has also served the larger church as a Synod moderator and moderator of church development committees in two synods. Prior to and alongside his ministry of Word and Sacrament, he labored as a Systems Engineer supporting the US Navy. In his alternate career he has numerous publications to his credit including technical proposals, system specifications, operator’s manuals, engineering reports, and presentations. He likens proposals writing to good fiction: each must stack up enough solid evidence for a reader to easily climb before stepping out onto ethereal fantasy and believe truths revealed aloft. In his first career, as a commissioned officer in the US Navy, Lieutenant Shaw supervised the operation of a Naval submarine nuclear reactor and taught physics to enlisted operators. Attention to detail in his novels stems from these formative experiences. Robert and his wife, Lori, have two adult children.
