Heart Breaker is a second chance love story about Country music stars Jolene Hart and Chance Rivers. Recently, they have broken up but their manager is holding their butts to the fire. They are contracted to write another album and go on tour, and they need to get over their hurt feelings and get to work. Forced back together, their chemistry immediately ignites and all of the problems that broke them up are still unresolved. It gives them plenty to write about, but can they overcome their problems to find their way back together off stage as well as on. Jolene and Chance seemed so young to me. Her jealousy keeps getting in the way of them truly developing their relationship into one filled with trust and respect. Chance came from a famous family, and having grown up in the music business, he certainly brings his own baggage to the table. As a couple, they had a lot of chemistry. I mean they really couldn’t keep their hands off each other, but for me, that wasn’t enough to keep me invested in whether they will make things work. They made great music but otherwise made each other miserable. I know this is fiction, and you need to build a story on conflict, but it would’ve been great if this author gave us more in these characters to root for. I am not saying that this novel was poorly written. It really wasn’t. I can tell that the author is talented. I just did not love these characters. I gave this book ❤️❤️❤️, that’s an average score. The bones were good, the setting was great, but I needed more from these characters than great sex. In real life, great sex is, well, great, but you need understanding and respect in a relationship, and even though this book had a happy ending I just felt blah about the whole thing.

HEART BREAKER, the first novel in Erin McCarthy's new series Nashville Nights is about a hot new singer and songwriting duo, Jolene Hart and Chance Rivers. Their first album and tour together was hot and so was their love affair, but then... the very public breakup. Unfortunately, they are contracted to continue to work together. Jolene and Chance have explosive chemistry and the temperaments to match. Jolene especially is not at all happy about being forced to work with Chance and stir up all the hurt of their breakup. The first part of the book they are both dealing with the fact they still have feelings for each other but don't want to admit it. Each have their own insecurities as to their professional status and this only makes it harder. Once they get past that and admit their feelings, the love and the romance between them really shines through. This is where it gets good and makes up for the rocky beginning. Erin McCarthy is a favorite author of mine and I have to admit, I had my doubts with this one at first, but she really pulls her characters and storyline together so I was really glad I read through to the end. Excellent finish! 4 stars ~Complimentary copy downloaded from NetGalley. Review and opinions are my own.

Chance and Jolene are two people with a lot of chemistry and spark, but at the same time they are combative and on guard. That made things entertaining and aggravating. They were both headstrong and stubborn with a good dose of insecurity thrown in. I thought they were being set up to fail at times. The sequence of events toward the end just seemed too convenient. ..err well inconvenient for our characters, but you get what I mean. Heart Breaker by Erin McCarthy was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

Heart Breaker had all the best elements of a great country song including a young couple who loved each other but have grown apart, a hit album full of original songs that has left their fans eagerly awaiting the second album, and epic fight that leads to a lot of heart ache for Jolene and Chance. Their relationship was also complicated insecurities that stem from Chance's musical family and Jolene's rags to riches story. They are forced to reunite to write their next album. They are forced to spend four weeks together isolated from the world. Will this time together rekindle their feelings for each other or drive them farther apart. I loved this book! It was a great soapy romance that hooked me from the first page. I liked the characters, setting, and dialogue. Overall this book was the perfect blend of Nashville fantasy with country romance. I was given a free copy for any honest review.

4 Stars From Sammy's Book Obsession! TITLE~ Heart Breaker (Nashville Nights #1) AUTHOR~ Erin McCarthy GENRE~ Contemporary-Romance-Music PUBLISHED~ May 17th 2016 by Loveswept PURCHASED~ ARC/Review Copy/NetGalley MY RATING~ 4/5 Dialogue Natural/Realistic 4/5 Stars The characters were southern (Nashville, TN), country singers, but their words didn't always match that. Wasn't off-putting, just something that I noticed. Emotional Impact 4/5 Stars Lots of back and forth relationship-esque emotions going on. Also, a lot of self discovery, I think. As well as learning from the mistakes of their families. Grammar 5/5 Stars Good grammar, well written. Story Pace 4/5 Stars Moved along nicely. Twists, Turns, & Unpredictability 4/5 Stars I didn't feel like their were any BIG shockers throughout the book. A couple interesting twists, though. Likeliness to Recommend 4/5 Stars I will likely recommend this book to people who enjoy books about country music. Likeliness to Finish Series 4/5 I'm not sure what the next one will be about, but if it's the same characters, yes! Likeliness to Read More from Author 4/5 If something becomes available that catches my interest, it's possible. Overall 4/5 Stars

This was a second chance romance, between Country's Hottest New Duo., Hart-Rivers. They went from meeting, to song writing, to stars, lovers then enemies in 18 months. Both of them are still drawn to one another and seem to be ridiculously sentimental. So when they are forced to stay in a cabin to compose another album by their record company, sparks fly and then melancholy sets in, as they reminisce about the others better qualities instead of the bad. This was a fun, sexy read that was also entertaining in a annoying way. They both love the others endearing qualities but never gave the bad traits any time or conversation. Theses two needed much more time and patience to help solve their problems and as they work through their issues with the help of another writer more turmoil erupts. There are some Lol moments and some steamy scenes in this sweet, sassy second chance romance. As well some genuine feeling of jealousy, anger, love and passion. They both had found meaning in their life with each other, now they had to figure how to make it work. Will they get their HEA? You will have to read to find out. Received a complimentary copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I got sucked right into the book, I don't know why but I feel in love with the characters, Jolene and Chance. Maybe it was their chemistry, maybe it was their struggles, most likely it was their chemistry...Jolene and Chance had a sizzling record that they wrote while in bed *wink*wink, and after winning album of the year they kind of implode and go their separate ways. But neither one is happy or making any records. When their record label puts their foot down and gets the duo together to write a second album, Chance is hoping to rekindle their fireworks. Jolene knows it inevitable but doesn't give in easily.

Honestly, I don’t know how to start this review. So that’s how I’m going to start it. I did like Heart Breakers but I didn’t love it. It was a good story but the entire time I was sitting here getting upset at the stubbornness of the characters. I wanted to smoosh their faces together while yelling “just kiss you idiots!” So yeah, that’s mostly how I felt about this book. It was an enjoyable short read about two country singers in Nashville with a cute story line, but very frustrating characters. All the problems seemed to be resolved too quickly though and it was hard to get a grasp on who’s POV the story was in, but everything else was great.

Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept via NetGalley for a copy of this book! This was a quick read and an enjoyable book! Chance an Jolene were a couple and now have broken up. Happens all the time, right? Well, the problem with that is these two are singers and now must work together. That told me that this was going to be a good story! Can these two put their "hate" aside and perform or will they give in to the feelings that they still have (yet deny) for each other? I enjoyed the characters and even though the story line sounded vaguely familiar, it still was a good book!

On thru surface this is pretty much a typical romance novel. Boy meets girl, hook up, fight break up, repeat. This author adds a twist with the country music theme and adds depth to the characters. The characters are each dealing with personal hurts and challenges, some from childhood. So beyond whether they can fight their way to a great album, can they overcome past hurts that affect their relationship, both private and professional? There are twists that keep the story interesting and made me want to keep reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a hot romance novel. A well written story. I received an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I liked the characters of this book, and I enjoyed what there was to it, but I wanted more. More background into the lives they hint about growing up with, more depth to their relationship other than just a few days of making up and breaking up, etc. I would recommend it for a quick fun read at the beach. Jolene Hart is a singer/songwriter in Nashville who had a very public break-up with her boyfriend a few months ago. Now her manager is pestering her to get back to work writing the next album ... only problem is, her songwriting partner and fellow duo performer is Chase Rivers, her EX! Chase grew up in the fold of Nashville songwriting and it's in his blood. He doesn't care so much about the getting famous part though. He's happy to be behind the scenes pumping the songs out. When they agree to go away for a week to a secluded to cabin to work on writing together again, it turns into a free-for-all of fighting, then making up, then fighting some more!

I was given an Advanced Review Copy in return for a honest review. Can a country singing duo get over their breakup long enough to get their career back on track? Will Jolene Hart and Chance Rivers let little disputes and issues get in the way of their second chance together, or will they only know heartbreak? I have always loved this author's work and this novel, first in A Nashville Night Series, didn't disappoint. This enjoyable story has relatable characters, when they weren't arguing, and a plot that never lost my attention. I loved the epilogue - sweet, touching ending. Entertaining read! - Sarah

There are very few books that once I start reading I choose not to finish. This one I got to 50% and just couldn't take any more. I really enjoy Ms. McCarthy's other books but this one just didn't work for me. I couldn't connect with the characters ... at all! The only thing that seemed to work between Jolene and Chance was sex and fighting. Sometimes at the same time. The storyline? Well I'm still not sure what that is. This one is a definite no for me.

1 - "I don’t want to fake it... I want to write what I really feel." Star. DNF @ 31% I don’t really know what to say about Heart Breaker even when I am posting a negative review, I try and keep it respectful and positive. But I’ve got nothing good to say this time. Erin McCarthy is not a new author to me, granted I haven’t read loads of her books but the few I have I really enjoyed; they made me laugh and had likeable characters with engaging story-lines. Jolene and Chance... I can find nothing good to say about either of them, they are the most dislikeable characters I have read in a while; I didn’t feel any connection between them, or any emotional attachment over and above winding each other up, and generally acting like stroppy teenagers. From what I can gather their big 'split' that originally caused all the animosity and general douchery from both parties stems from him hugging a fan... Yep that’s it folks he hugged a fan. They were very different people who had some serious communication issues. True story that. And I think they would have been better off not attempting to get back together for the sake of their careers or any other reason. For me this is a couple and story that may have been better in the authors head, than it actually has transferred onto the page as, and has subsequently been written into. ARC generously provided via Netgalley, I am sorry I cannot offer a more positive review on this occasion.

I read a lot of Erin McCarthy's past books, but then felt like she went a bit off the rails around the middle of her Fast Track series. I am happy to say I enjoyed Heart Breaker, first in her new Nashville Nights series a lot, though. It has a sweet, lighthearted feel to it, despite the angst that comes popping through at various times (it's practically a requirement anyway, since hello--they're country music stars!) I liked both Chance and Jolene and really wanted them to be together--combine that with the fact that it's a second chance romance, and it was obvious that this book was going to be right up my alley! It was clear from the beginning that the two of them had something good together and just needed to figure out how to stop getting in their own way and just be. Easier said than done when you're in the spotlight 24/7... It was a bit disheartening to see the same thing that tore them apart the first time around trying to do a repeat the second, but at the same time it was believable, given their temperaments and the craziness that surrounds fame today. I really liked the way Ms. McCarthy had them work through their own individual issues, though, and got them to their HEA in a way that made sense and makes me believe that this time it can stick. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more from this series! Rating: 4 stars / B+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
