I would strongly recommend this book for anyone who has heart disease or anyone with a family history of heart disease. It is a non-political book that describes Cheney's 35 years of living with heart disease and provides a historical overview of how today's heart disease treatments have come to be. Excellent book.

I consider myself an informed layman when it comes to medical issues. I learned a great deal about how the heart works; the history of heart surgery; the history of heart transplants. Alternate sections, written by Cheney and the doctor who followed his cardiac history, give good insight into this great achievement of medical science.
