Heart of a Lady (Book One of the Red River Valley Brides) by Rita Hestand

Randal Thomas made it abundantly clear that Jo Ella Masterson would never be anything but a whore at Al's Saloon. But Jo Ella had other plans. Unlike most of the others she could read and when she found a newspaper ad for mail-order-brides, she talked half of Al's girls into finding a husband and settling down as real ladies.
When the stagecoach caring the girls overturned on a sharp curve in the road, the girls were battered and bruised. When Harry Jones, the Sheriff of Veda rescues
Jo Ella and the girls, they are taken to the doctor and then to the boardinghouse in Veda. Ma Jones, Harry's mother owned the boardinghouse. She'd be looking out for them. But immediately Jo Ella is pulled between two attractive men, Harry the Sheriff and a dangerous looking cattle rancher named Dillon. Dillon was just shy of the law all the time and intriguing. Harry on the other hand was dependable and always straight with her. When a bank robbery goes wrong and Jo Ella is kidnapped, Harry goes after her. Dillon follows and meets up with Harry. Harry informs Dillon he can rescue Jo Ella, because Harry is going after the robbers. Somehow, Jo Ella must choose between the two of them. Jo Ella is tempted by Dillon, but will the straight and narrow Sheriff be her real hero?

About the Author

The Lady Train will be released on the 28th of this month. Another Brides of the West story is coming too, Comes a Hero tells the tale of how the government sent widows to recover their dead husband's bodies when the civil war breaks out and the forts of Texas are in chaos. Now they are not only attacked by the Indians who see the benefit of distracting the soldiers, but of the Yankees. I've revamped Runaway Bride and Pretend Mom. Runaway Bride is now: Here Comes Trouble, My Trouble. I am about to reload Runaway Bride/ Here Comes Trouble, My Trouble. Pretend Mom is already up. Pretend Mom still has the old title, but it has been reworked also. Hope you enjoy the changes. I wanted everyone to know that I changed the title or Runaway Bride as it isn't too original and thought it best not to confuse people any further on this. I may be revamping more books, as I do, I'll let you know. I've got a couple of new children's books out, God Knows Where his Children are, about a young girl experiencing her first earthquake when she moves to California. The Forgotten is one I enjoyed writing about, when a young Irish Setter pup hooks up with a disabled vet. I hope you'll give it a try. Missing Grandpa is a short story about how a man tells his nine year old son that his grandpa died and how that death brings them closer. I've got another children's story coming out called "The Witness". I think you'll like this one, it's the first book of Issues for children Issue: Being Responsible. I want to delve into the many issues that children have. Afraid in the Dark released and am working on the second Stalker book, The Car Stalker. Also Broken Hearted, a new contemporary western romance is Free for your enjoyment. His to Hold was released the second in the series.. Also a book that has been on the pre-order list for some time is Be Free My Heart is now on sale, one of the books in the Dream Catcher series. The third book of the Connor series, Finding the Fairytale is out. The Ghost of Victor Frank is out now, and I want to tell you, these serial killer books are hard, and difficult to write. You might want to know why. Well, in order to do justice to them, the writer has to get inside their heads, and doing this takes energy and stamina. You can't just make a bad guy bad, you have to explore what makes him tick, and why he's bad. Granted a lot of them end strangely too. I wanted them to be a tad different than what most people read. I wanted them to explore the minds of what we call bad people. I don't think a book can do justice to a totally bad person. A totally bad person is evil, but serial killers can be mentally ill, brought up all wrong, or exploring their bad sides. But in order to get full value out of a villain, you have to know what makes them tick, and as for the side of the writer, that can be overwhelming at times. Victor Frank In Better Off Without Her was as much a victim as his own victims. Benny Gates is a man with a grudge. Elmer in Good Day for a Hanging was a man trying to survive, brought up completely wrong, and then in his final book, Bad Day for a Killing, Elmer comes full circle, If by chance you read Elmer's story, Good Day for a Hanging, don't miss the end of his saga in Bad Day for a Killing or you won't get full value of his story. It all fits, and works, but it is extremely hard to write. I've narrowed the free books to the first of new series books. Now you have Cinderella Nanny which is going off the shelves quickly, Broken Hearted (Cowboy Lovin' Series) Also, I've had low prices on my books for a long time and I feel after numerous edits, changing covers that the increases aren't that detrimental. Also check out the books in audio on Audible. I have some great producers on there and the way they tell the stories really can captivate you. Remember the children's books can be listened to on the way to school, and then for the adults you'll find the Western Thrillers and The Brides of the West. I hope you will try some because these people are so talented. I hope you enjoy the covers, but if there is some you don't like drop me a line at ritahestand@gmail.com and let me know. I love new covers and I love to experiment and see what you readers do like. Also there are a lot of New Adult and Young Adult short stories that I truly hope you enjoy. If you're looking for a quick read and yet fulfilling romance, check them out. I'm adding quite a few children's stories too. I have sixteen books in the Brides of the West Collection that are completed, but look for new ones coming, all stories stand alone so if you are only interested in certain ones, you won't miss something from another book. I have recently begun another Brides book, so I guess I'm not finished with them yet. I'm enlarging my Dream Catcher series, and working on the Connor Series too. Afraid in the Dark is out and The Car Stalker is next. I'm writing it as we speak and I hope it send real chills down your back when you read it. There's already several books in this series to come. The Brides of the West is not complete yet, I have decided to try for twenty in that series. but Red River Valley Brides Series are complete now. I'm going to try to finish the Dream Catcher series this year, and get busy on the Stalker series, along with some New Adult stories and children's stories for you. So try them you might really like them. I'd like to say that fatasticfiction.com has a nice display of our books, please visit. They have every series in order for you to look at and it's a colorful site. If you want a print book I'd appreciate you buying directly from Createspace. This helps all authors not just me. My site is looking very good although, I find it hard to keep it up to date, so forgive me if I'm lax there, and I hope you'll visit me there. http://www.ritaphestand.rocks That's all the news for now. This book had a good plot. But was so repetitive in explaining things. Curious about the continuing series, but not enough to buy them.
