The story, which is set in the early 1800's, follows the lives of two brothers who were separated as infants by an accident at sea. One grows up wealthy and English and the other grows up poor and French. As young men both are called up to fight in the War of the Third Coalition and end up unknowingly fighting against each other. If you have interest in historic war strategies at sea you will enjoy all the details in the battle scenes. I was more interested in how the two were going to run into each other than the actual story line. The story was good, but not riveting. The ending, I will admit, was a disappointment. I felt it was a little weak, but did leave ample opportunities for furthering the series. There are, in fact, three books in this series. I do wonder what happens to the characters, which is always a good thing. I do hope as they continued the series they gave greater depth to both the characters and the story.
