To the moon and back…

From the stars to the ocean…

That was Marley and Cameron Bowen’s secret code.

Twins born just five minutes apart, they have the perfect life… Until tragedy strikes just weeks after their eighth birthday and their father is killed by a drunk driver. Having trouble coping with the loss of her soul mate, their mother tries to find comfort in drugs and alcohol… And an abusive man with a penchant for underage girls. No longer able to stand listening to his sister’s screams and cries every night for nearly three years, Cam takes matters into his own hands and they’re finally able to escape the nightmare.

They’re finally able to start over…

But the nightmare still haunts Marley. The years go on and she is forced to put on a smile, making everyone think that she is the perfect, well-adjusted teenager that she is supposed to be… Until she is faced with a painful reminder of her past during her senior year of high school and she’s no longer able to keep on the mask she has been compelled to wear.

About the Author

T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is the USA Today Best Selling author of the Beautiful Mess series. Originally from New England, she now resides in sunny Southern California with her husband, dog and three cats, all of which she has rescued (including the husband). She always had a knack for writing, but mostly in the legal field. It wasn't until recently that she decided to try her hand at creative writing and is now addicted to creating different characters and new and unique story lines in the Contemporary Romantic Suspense genre.

When she's not planted in front of her computer, writing away, she can be found running and training for her next marathon (of which she has run over fifteen fulls and far too many halfs to recall). Unlike Olivia, the main character in her Beautiful Mess series, she has yet to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Oh Marley. You made me laugh. You made me cry. Your pain and anguish are something that nobody should ever have to endure. Your story was told so beautifully though. When I read Heart of Light, I knew that Cam was special. Now that I have read Heart of Marley, I am sure of it. Their story had a rough start but I was so glad that they got to experience 'normal' for a while. I was torn apart when it all came down at the end. The twists and turns were enough to keep me guessing and I was wrong on what I thought the outcome would be. Thank you TK Leigh for another awesome read. I look forward to reading everything else that you ever write!

This is a must read novel. It will have you laughing and crying but you won't mind one bit. So, I'm not sure how to describe this book except for WOW!! Marley Bowen is Dr. Cameron Bowen's twin sister who spent several of her younger years being abused. After Cam took matters into his own hands, they were sent to live with their Aunt and Uncle. Even though Marley tried to move on from her past, she found it difficult to. This is her story and how Can tried to help. T.K. Leigh is an amazing writer. She writes about hard hitting subjects and makes the reader want to read her books. She writes with a passion and a sense of urgency that definitely has me wanting to read more. Her books are so easy to read and you don't even realize that you've gotten into the book that you're sitting there crying your eyes out for a friend when in reality it's a fictional character. Her words bring them to life and you actually feel as if you know them. Following Marley through her experiences was unbelievable but to also read Cam's POV and know what he does with his life after the tragic events, actually makes you feel as if you are there inside the pages with them. After reading the Beautiful Mess series and then Heart of Light, Leigh has definitely placed herself on the top of my "go to authors" list. It seems that every book she releases, pulls me more and more into her writing and I can't wait to read what's next.

I received this book from Once Upon An Alpha as part of the blog tour in return for a fair and honest review. This book is simply beautiful - it's about an ugly subject matter but the book itself is beautiful. The love between these siblings simply flows off the page and you are drawn into an emotional world from word one on page one. Be warned though - this book is an emotional rollercoaster in the best possible sense. Cam's constant strength and devotion to his twin and Marley's sense of fun and sarcastic wit after everything that she's been through will have you laughing out loud. "With every high comes a low" says Cam in the book so be prepared that the lows will have you sobbing into a tissue. This story tells a tale of what it is like to try and rebuild your life after suffering prolonged abuse over years. You are with Marley every step of the way as she drags herself forward, taking a few steps back at times before going forward once more. She doesn't do it alone though, not only does she have Cam but she also finds her first love in Douglas. Cam also finds his first love in Brianna.  I won't go into any of the story as I do not want to spoil it for anyone but I will say that this is story is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. There is not a single scene in this book that isn't relevant to the story, that you would read and wonder why it was there. I will say though that I was sobbing from about 80% onwards so had to re-read the end to make sure I didn't miss anything. I haven't read Heart of Light yet but you can be 100% sure that I will be now.  Absolutely fantastic, highly recommended but with a 5-tissue warning!

Heart of Marley is a story that will reach in and grab you and not let go. Be prepared to read about the ugly truth that countless children face daily. But that isn't what the heart of this story is about. It's about a brothers deep love for his twin sister and his fight to save her and her fight to overcome her past. This is Cam and Marley's story. No eight-year-old girl expects an adult to betray them in such a vile way. Having a mother who only thinks about her next "fix" instead of hearing her daughters cries. No eight-year-old boy should have to hear his sister's cries for help. Cam can only take so much until one day he takes matters into his own hands to protect Marley. Marley and Cam are taken away from their mother to go live with their aunt and uncle. Marley is made to believe that she must keep the past a secret and push it under the rug, never getting the professional help she needs. On the outside she looks like she is perfect and happy. Only Cam knows the true pain she is hiding. This book is about Marley's strength and determination to be normal and overcome her past. It is a hard journey that will bring you to your knees crying for all that was lost. But you also get to experience her joy at being normal when she falls in love and is able to let others in. Heart of Marley far exceeds five stars. As Cam would say, I loved this book "to the moon and back!"

The bond between twins has always intrigued me. Of all siblings, twins have an unexplainable, not to be copied, connection. A bind that can't be broken. Never once have I met a twin that doesn't have a close relationship with the other. Cameron and Marley are no exception. They love each either fiercely. They are there for one another unconditionally. Marley takes care of Cameron and Cameron takes care of Marley. No one told them they had to. It's what they do. This story is beautifully written. It's a story of love, loss, hardships and tragedy. TK takes us through their senior year of high school and Lord knows we all remember the awkwardness of our teen years. Relationships, broken hearts. Imagine throwing in abuse. Something no child should have to go through. Then throw in the small southern town where secrets are swept under the rug. Appearances take precedence over your well-being. This story reminds us that not everyone lives in sunshine and roses. Just because someone looks happy on the outside doesn't mean their life is perfect. You never know what goes on behind closed doors. I applaud TK for writing this type of book. Maybe it will help someone in a similar situation. Maybe it will open the eyes of someone who knows someone like Marley and can help. So, grab your tissues and dive into one of the most powerfully emotional books of 2014. TK knows how to pull your heart strings and shake your emotions to the core. She is an amazing author and she has done it again!!!

I ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK! I read these books out of order but oh well, It didn't take away from anything. This book was soheartwrenching my heart was actually aching for them all. I am head over heals in love with Cam. He is the perfect brother, boyfriend, son, friend and all around person. The relationship Marley and Cam have is so beautiful. I wonder if all twins have this kind of relationship? Their love for each other is so touching. The joking and razzing they share is hilarious. I don't say this often but I have experienced this before. This series was like watching a movie instead of reading a book. I could feel the emotions coming off the pages. Both of these books touched me so deeply. Just the thought of this happenng to someone is unbearable. I worked at a jail for 16 years so unfortunately I know for a fact it does happen. I cried so hard reading this that my husband came to check on me because he heard me sobbing so hard. Lol. But I loved every minute of reading both of these books. Cam and Jolene's story was just as touching but oh so exciting. I cannot express enough how much I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND both of these books to everyone. T. K. Leigh is an amazing Author and I can't wait for Briana's story and Doug's story also.

I had to wait to write this review because I had to get myself together.... the author does a wonderful job of bringing to light a real problem in our country, abuse. She hits is dead on when she displays the fact it is just swept under the rug so to speak. The author tells a beautiful story, it is a stand alone but wraps up another story beautifully. T.K. Leigh is an amazing author who wraps her characters up nicely, but realistically. I highly recommend any of her books, especially this one!!

Heart of Marley is by far one of the most amazing reads I have come across so far. It brings to light some of the most horrific crimes being committed in this world. It sends you on an emotional roller-coaster of a ride. There are times when you will be laughing then you come across some of the most unimaginable things a child, or anyone, has had to go through and it breaks your heart. I would highly recommend this to everyone. It isn't one of those books that you think oh how sweet, no this one brings truth to things that people want to sweep under the rug and pretend nothing ever happened. It opens your eyes and shows you that things can be much worse than anyone realizes.

This book was so real and touching. Hard subject to read about even harder to writ I'm sure. It was sad yet happy. I can't remember crying like this over a book. An emotional journey. Its hard to find words to say how good (better then good) this book is. So very worth the read. With a box of tissues. Love it and can't wait for the others.

5 star This story has heartbreak, pain, abuse, and suspense. This book will test your emotions. Marley was abused as a child by her mother’s boyfriend for almost three years. Once Marley and her twin brother escape that situation they are moved with an Aunt and Uncle. As time goes by Marley with Cam’s help tries to overcome her past. But when Marley is tossed back into her dark place will she be able to make it back out? Will Cam be able to help her overcome the past? "To the moon and back," "From the stars to the ocean." I loved these characters. This book deals with abuse of a child which happens often and is not always reported. Learn to look for the signs. You could one day help protect your very own Marley…… I highly recommend this book.

Evocative, poignant, heartbreaking Favorite Quotes: “I’m not sure there should be this much discussion before a first kiss, Cam.  It takes the spontaneity out of it a bit, don’t you think?” “I stared at the cars driving by, hating the people in them for no other reason than it felt good to hate.  It felt good to judge them from afar.” “I’m someone with a voice.  Someone who’s suffered, but who survived, even when the odds were stacked against me.  And that’s who I plan to be every day for the rest of my life.” My Review: Kudo and curses to T.K. Leigh, she has wrecked me with her exquisite story telling.  I rarely cry, even when I should.  I am unashamed to say that this book has had tears streaming down my cheeks for the last hour.  I had to stop reading to catch my breath and wipe my eyes.  This book grabbed me from start to finish and I could not put it down.  It squeezed my heart yet kept me guessing, as there was always something unexpected occurring in nearly each chapter.  Well written, evocative, and deeply moving.  I am Ms. Leigh’s newest fan-girl.

I was gifted this book for an honest review by author T.K. Leigh. Twins Cam and Marley are in a nightmare after their father died. Their mom goes off the deep end into drugs and booze and hooks up with a evil man. Now only Cam can get them out of the nightmare. Years go by since she was young but Marley is thrust back into the nightmare in her mind during her last year in high school. Can she truly escape her past and live a normal life. The author did not disappointment me with the characters of Cam and Marley you can just feel their emotions in the story, they are great and their interaction with the other characters was too. The author created such a smooth flowing story line that it was a pleasure to read this book. This is for mature readers because of strong language and adult content. Might have to get the tissue for this book.

Overall rating: 5.0 Rockin' Stars T.K. Leigh has done it yet again with her beautiful heart wrenching story, Heart of Marley. This book will take you on a journey of love, passion, disgust and anguish all in a matter of a few pages. The characters are so real and thought out, that on a personal level most can relate. Marley and Cameron Bowen are twins. Twins who have lived in such tragedy that it makes a person wonder how can anyone survive and become whole with all of the loss they have faced. From the loss of their dad at eight years old and then the physical abuse brought on by a sinister man who tore away the innocence no child should ever loose, the twins only have each other. Trying to move on and living with their aunt and uncle, Marley and Cam grow up struggling to put the past behind them. In a world that puts young girls on display through pageantry. Marley can never be normal. Cam being more normal than his twin, still has the need to always protect her. This story will bring you to the brink and make you feel so much that your heart will ache. From the very beginning I was drawn into the characters plight for survival. Leading up to the very end, the story takes a twist that I was not prepared for. With a heavy heart, I endured, crying my eyes out from the injustices that the world imposes everyday on those most vulnerable. I feel that T.K.'s insight to child abuse in this novel has given a voice to all those who are scared to tell. This is a book that should be read! It touched my heart and soul and I will forever remember the Heart of Marley. Thank you for powerfully singing the voice of injustice, T.K!   Hero - 5.0 stars Heroine - 5.0 stars Steam Level: 4.5 stars Plot: 5.0 stars Cliffhanger: Yes Would I recommend this book: Yes! I feel this book is a must read. Some of the words are hard to bear, but it is such a great story and will make you feel so good in the end. It will also open your eyes to injustices that we should all fight daily! Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I love the beautiful way T.K. puts together a message for all to hear. She is a brilliant author who has so much to offer to the world. You are my new hero!  ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

Another epic book by T.K. Leigh! Once again, she wrecked me with her writing and I LOVED it so much! We meet Cam for the first time in the Beautiful Mess Series and then again in Heart of Light. He is an amazing man and hero. This is his and Marley's story of growing up. Marley and Cam are twins and best friends. They were happy children until their father was killed and mother started doing drugs. At the age of 8, Marley is betrayed in the worst way that doesn't end until Cam takes matters into his own hands. After that, they are sent to live with their Aunt and Uncle. Living there was still hard on them, as they were expected to never talk about their past so Marley is a mess inside from the abuse. This book literally wrecked me. I ugly cried like I have never cried before in a book. T.K's writing is amazing. She doesn't glorify the abuse by writing it in detail and yet, still got her point across about the abuse so many children face today. My emotions were all over the place while reading this book, pain, love, hatred, fear, happiness, and respect for the strength of Marley. This is a book I will read more than once and I recommend it to everyone. Just be sure you have tissues by you when you read it.
