A Heart Revealed continues the story of the O'Connor family of Boston. Charity's friend from Dublin, Emma Malloy is running a department store during the Depression. She lives alone, separated from her abusive husband. Most of the time she's at peace with herself and her life. Then Charity's brother Sean comes to work for her and they fall in love - an impossible situation. My heart ached for this couple. Not since Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars books have I enjoyed a series so much. Every one of Julie Lessman's novels is like a family reunion. It's great to check in on Marcy and Patrick, Faith and Collin, Lizzie and Brady. Katie and Luke battle over her entry into law school and starting a family. The best fun of all is Charity and Mitch's marriage. Charity continues her outrageous ways of parenting wild Henry, manipulating her brother, and dealing with the possibility of her husband's infidelity. This heroine does the things we all wish we were brave enough to do. This series is especially recommended for young women, to help them understand the role of desire in relationships. It's also a blessing for us "old marrieds" to remember those feelings and stoke the fires. I can't wait for A Trust Restored!

A Heart Revealed by Julie Lessman c2011 An Irish gal would like this book!! As a battered wife, Emma Malloy flees the only home she has known, Dublin, Ireland, to relocate in the Irish district of Boston, Massachusetts, in the New World with new opportunities and safety. This is a second book in the series Winds of Change. I have not read the first book, A Hope Undaunted. The cover drew me as I constantly saw it displayed. I knew I would like Emma by the tilt of her head and the yellow roses she holds in her hands. My favorite, yellow roses. I really liked this book, especially when I got to page 58 and read, "Casey Miranda Herringshaw!" Emma folded her arms in the pretense of shocked disapproval, doing her best to bite back a smile. "What would your mother say?" So many wonderful Irish names: Patrick, Sean, Rose, Kathleen, Collin, Clare; what's not to like? I felt right at home among them. My favorite character was Sean, the proclaimed bachelor son babied by his sisters and mother and teased by his brothers-in-law. He was the hero, the protected, unaware guy that made you wonder how he got through life on his own. The only thing missing was soda bread and a recipe. It was fun to live life with this family and their adopted friend Emma. Enjoy reading A Heart Revealed. I especially liked the last page, but don't turn there first! Enjoy the whole story as it progresses. You'll be glad you waited. Winds of Change Series book 2 ~*~ can be read as a stand-alone novel

I thought that the story of Emma Maloy was very endearing, her soft spoken nature, strong work ethic, and call for leadership when things got hard, resonated with me. I love a good love story, with a little history, but this book was also a great faith builder for me. It was an amazing reminder of the passionate love God has for us. A quote from the book that ministered so much to me was, "I found a God whose arms were open wide and whose heart leapt with joy when I called his name. As protective as a mother and as jealous as a lover, this was a God who wanted me for his very own. Me...To touch, to bless, to fill with his pleasure...until I overflow, spilling his love on all those around me-treasured possessions of a passionate God." (a Heart Revealed, Julie Lessman)

Sean O'Connor is a favorite character of mine in this series of books about the O'Connor family written by Julie Lessman. While Emma Malloy is not a family member, she exhibits what a true friend should be. I enjoyed very much reading this love story so beautifully and passionately written. I highly recommend this book and all of the others written by Julie Lessman. In order to get the flow of the entire story, it helps to read first The Daughters of Boston in order followed by Winds of Change. Here is yet another great read from one of my favorite authors, Julie Lessman. CAG

I just loved this second book in the Winds of Change trilogy by Julie Lessman. This book tells the story of Sean O'Connor and also keeps up with the rest of the O'Connor family as well. I am eager to read the next book. I can't seem to put these books down once I start reading them. Thankful to be retired so I can devote time to my love of reading.

"A Heart Revealed" is the story of Sean O'Connor, oldest son of the O'Connor family - from Julie Lessman's Daughters of Boston and Winds of Change series. The book opens in 1931 Boston at the wedding of Sean's youngest sister Katie, in which sister Charity's best friend Emma Malloy is a bridesmaid. Emma had fled Dublin ten years prior, running for her life and leaving behind a painful past. When Emma and Sean become more than family friends, violent and abusive secretive pasts and prior vows threaten to destroy the life of each, and the only true love Emma has ever known. Other O'Connor family personal struggles and tragedies add additional drama, deception, passion, revelations, and human emotions - to an already powerful story of people embracing love and seeking to honor God. "A Heart Revealed" is another passion-filled masterpiece from the writing genius of the "Queen of Romance" - one of her finest and most suspenseful, yet interspersed with the obstinate and sweet charms of children that will make you laugh and steal your heart. Once again, Julie Lessman uses the fear, shame, pain, and guilt, of the characters - two of her most gentle and kind - to show the restorative power that only a loving God can provide!!

Even though I adore all of the O'Conner's stories this book is probably my favorite! I just love it so much that it's almost impossible to put it into words but that's not going to stop me from trying! I love Sean so much! He is such an amazing hero and in the words of Emma “He's the peacemaker, the buffer, the Rock of Gibraltar everyone relies on.” That really is the perfect description of Sean. He is constantly trying to do things to help others without thinking about himself. And he has that calm strength that makes him the perfect person to lean on when things go wrong. My heart broke for him as he realized he was in love with a woman he could never have but I admired how he stood strong determined to be her friend no matter what. And when we finally found out what had happened to him during the war I wanted to cry. And Emma...where to begin! I loved her from the very start! She was such a good friend to Charity and the perfect balance for her as well. I loved her quiet strength, her kindness, and her giving heart. I hated all the things her husband had done to her. That someone would do such things to anyone let alone someone like Emma baffled me and I honestly wanted to deck him! It was amazing how she could go through all that she did and come out the sweetest person you'd ever meet. Definitely a testament to the difference it can make when you give your heart to God rather than to bitterness! It was painfully sweet to watch their journey, two people who deserved love the most being robbed of it but not letting it destroy them. Sadly this review is sounding a bit depressing so let me assure you that there is a happy ending! I won't spoil it but suffice it to say I ended the book with a smile on my face! And again all of the “secondary” cast was absolutely fantastic except for those few that you were supposed to not like, and didn't! I loved Bert whose grumpiness hid a soft side, and Alli with her heart of gold, and Mrs. Peep with her mothering. Then there are the characters from the previous books, Patrick and Marcy, Collin and Faith, Mitch and Charity, Brady and Lizzie, Luke and Katie, Steven, Gabe, Father Mac, and all the grand-kids, all of whom I once again thoroughly loved! So yeah I think this is my favorite O'Conner story mainly because I love Sean and Emma so much and I loved watching them find the happiness they so richly deserved!

Taut with romantic tension and the impossibility of the characters' situation, the story flies by. I appreciated how they made good moral choices and stood by them.

I loved reading about Emma and getting to finally know her better. This story shows that no matter what our past God can redeem anyone's life! This book is full of fun moments with the O'Connor family around the dinner table. I enjoyed the romantic setting in an old fashioned department store in Boston. Julie Lessman is an amazing author and you'll want to read every one of her books in this series!

Julie Lessman never ceases to amaze me with her God-given ability to create a story that touches and inspires. And this story is no different. A Heart Revealed, book two in the Winds of Change series, is the story of Emma Malloy, a battered woman, who has left her native Ireland to flee the abuses of her husband. Taken under the wing by her best friend, Charity O'Conner, Emma quickly becomes like one of the O'Conner family. In her heart, she knows that she will never be able to love another man because she is still legally married to the husband she left behind in Ireland. But then, she inadvertantly begins to fall in love with Charity's older brother, Sean. And the feelings become mutual between them. In this story of ever-changing emotions, Emma must now choose between her love for God and His precepts and her love for Sean. Julie is a master at twists and turns in her books, and everytime I think I've got it figured out, she puts a spin on the story that leaves me reeling. She put a twist on this one that I never saw coming. And if you want to know what happens...you'll just have to read the book for yourself. Great job, Julie!
