“Work, rest, eat, love”, in the words of the author herself this is the simple life that is depicted throughout the Cadence of Grace series and revisited in this cookbooklet. Even the titles of the sections of this cookbooklet sound so rustic and full of charm, “Sunrise”, “After Chores”, “Dinner Bell”, “Afternoon Shade”, and “Lightning Bugs”. My favorite was the Sweet Pea “Moonshine”, mostly because now I also believe "that all things taster better when sipped from a Mason jar”. Wonderful companion to the series by Joanne Bischof.

This cookbook complements one of my favorite book series, so I was excited to give it a try. It is full of delicious recipes that are presented in a straightforward manner. I love it when I can actually look forward to trying recipes in a cookbook and not be intimidated! I have not tried every recipe, but look forward to. Some pleasing to our family are the Old-Fashioned Mac & Cheese, Yogurt Blackberry-Jam Bread and the Cinnamon Sugar Banana Bread. The cookbook is a collection of twelve recipes, along with a short scene from Be Still My Soul that has been rewritten to be from Gideon’s point of view (instead of from Lonnie’s point of view, as it is in the book). I recommend this fun, little cookbook.
