4.5 Stars. We have reached the end.  This is the final book in the Deadglass Trilogy.  I will say this one is my favorite. Lady Lucia has played a major role in the series and her part is really just beginning.  In this story we get to watch her grow even more.  She is a lovely woman and I was cheering her along her journey from the first page. Emory Corbette, hmmm I can honestly say he shocked me many times; some good and some made me want to beat him to death…slowly.  He also had a very interesting journey.  Did it make up for how I felt about him?  The jury is still out. Their world has fallen to a great foe; one that was thought to have been stopped, but not contained.  The time of the prophecy has begun.  Lucia and Emory must battle themselves and each other to conquer the world’s greatest enemy and ensure the fulfillment of the prophecy.  Their trials were, at times, personal and very painful.  Together they endured because their people need the light of the Crane, now more than ever in this time of darkness. NON STOP ACTION!!  I was amazed at how much these two people had to endure and Ms. Brady kept me turning the pages.  I couldn’t put this story down.  Excellent storytelling!  I was disappointed that the prior main characters in the other two stories played little or no roles in this final novel, but I really was too busy soaking it all up not to notice until I had a moment to think about it. Since I did read the last two novels of the trilogy a day apart, I was also frustrated with the transition between the two.  The two timelines didn’t match up, but don’t let that small detail stop you from enjoying the captivating action, tension filled romance and creative plot.  Hearts of Chaos is beautifully detailed and gripping and is perfect for readers who want more than just romance in their books.

This is the first book that I have read by Brady, but it is the third book in her paranormal series. As such, I was a bit lost at first, as I trued to figure out the universe and the relationships between the characters. Once I had my footing, though, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The evolving relationship between Emory and Lucia was wonderfully portrayed. Best of all (for a mythology buff like me), the story was based on Babylonian mythology -- complete with a journey through the Underworld. Recommended to fans of Thea Harrison, Gail Carriger, and anyone looking for myth-rich, Pagan-friendly paranormal romance. -- lyradora

Hearts of Chaos. Kira Brady Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews. I was a bit cautious over requesting this as its the final book in a trilogy, but it sounded so good I hoped that reading samples and reviews of earlier books would be enough. It was, I really enjoyed this story, and would love to read the earlier books at some point. Its a classic sort of novel that I love to read all of the series back to back , to really get engrossed in another world and lost in the story. Obviously there were people and past actions from the first two books that I had to guess at, where past actions had consequences for this book. I loved the characters, a really good mix of good people, indifferent and bad – oh so bad! Lucia, I loved the way Emory saw her as delicate, and yet she was anything but. Their relationship was fraught with misunderstandings like that, where he acted one way to protect her and she thought he was rejecting her....really made me sad for her. Its full of fabulous characters, all types of shape shifters and other types of peoples. Then the wicked, brutal, malevolent Taimet, who has to be stopped – some of her actions really made me squirm, she was really harsh and gruesome, but that fitted perfectly the person she was. The journey Lucia and Emory take to try to overpower and kill her held incredible surprises and kept me guessing. It was really dangerous and along the way they learned skills they didn't know they had, and found out much about each other. They returned almost different people, but changed in a much needed way that strengthened them. A fascinating book, full of actions and drama, death and destruction, sacrifice, heroism and romance. I loved it and I think if I’d read the first two it would have been a five star read. Stars: Four – solid fantasy, a story to read and re read. If I’d read books one and two I think this would have been a five. ARC supplied by Netgalley.
