Heated Pursuit by April Hunt

TROPICAL HEAT

Penny Kline didn't come to Honduras on a pleasure trip. She's here to rescue her kidnapped niece, the only family she's got left. What she didn't plan on was walking into a covert ops mission---or being wrapped up in the hard-muscled arms of Rafe Ortega. The cool-as-ice operative's touch may get her all hot and bothered, but no man can have a hold on her heart until her niece is home where she belongs.

Even in the tropics, Alpha Security operative Rafe can take down the bad guys without breaking a sweat. Hostage extractions. Clandestine missions. Those are the things he's been trained to handle. Relationships? Not so much. But one look at this strong, sexy redhead and he's seized by a fierce urge to protect her at all costs. Now Penny and Rafe will have to up their game because they're about to go into a master criminal's lair without backup, and the danger---and passion---is about to explode . . .

About the Author

April blames her incurable chocolate addiction on growing up in rural Pennsylvania, way too close to America's chocolate capital, Hershey. She now lives in Virginia with her college sweetheart husband, two young children, and a cat who thinks she's a human-dog hybrid. On those rare occasions she's not donning the cape of her children's personal chauffer, April's either planning, plotting, or writing about her next alpha hero and the woman he never knew he needed, but now can't live without.

## LOVED it. Not knowing this was book 1 of a series, I read completely out of order. Trey's story which is actually book 2 was amazing, Charlie's story I thought was just Ok so I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. Well, suffice it to say, I adored this one. Suspense, action, romance, sex, and much to my delight: humor. Yay. This book had it all. So glad Penny wasn't written as the typical doormat heroine. She was capable (with some limitations in the jungle obvs), beautiful, and sassy (but not (b) itchy). Rafe was the typical "I don't DO relationships" alpha, but it didn't bother me as much as that usually does. Probably because in his POV we get his inner thoughts and those clue us in to how he really feels. Their chemistry was fantastic as well. I highly recommend this series and am looking forward to the next installment out next month!

I always love a good action romance and this had it in spades. Alpha Security is your typical private security/mercenary group working to take the assignments the government can’t sanction or be involved in. The beginning of this was rough and I almost stopped reading it; however, it does really pick up and it was worth sticking with it. I felt like April Hunt chopped off the beginning of her story in order to have an opener that was filled with action. The beginning and introduction to the characters was much too abrupt, especially with the addition of Penny and Trey knowing each other. Rafe was a little overbearing in the beginning but it stems from his protectiveness and believing that Penny isn’t prepared to deal with Fuentes. As the book goes on, Rafe is much more likable and his support of Penny is great. The initial antagonism between Rafe and Penny was really strong, so it was weird that they so quickly jumped into a physical relationship and then started to work so well together. Penny herself is one tough woman! She takes a pretty good beating throughout this book and keeps on fighting back. Her devotion to her niece (who is only a few years younger, so more like a sister) is strong and admirable considering Penny was willing to risk her life to bring Rachel home. We got some brief glimpses into the other members and I look forward to their books, especially the very British, very sassy, team nerd Charlie.

Enjoyed this start to April Hunt's Alpha series. Good balance of witty repartee, tense action and romance. Looking forward to reading the next one.

This is a new to me author so I wasn't sure what to expect. I can happily say I was completely blown away!! Then to find out this is her debut book - even more of my mind blown! This is a fantastic romantic suspense story and the beginning of what should be an amazing series. There are hot alphas, strong women, and suspense galore. Once I got started, I couldn't put this one down. Alpha Security is an off the grid covert ops group that takes on the most clandestine jobs around. Rafe Ortega is one of the best in the group. His training and dedication is all he needs to take on any task. Yet the fiery redhead Penny Kline may be more than even he can handle. His attraction to her is immediate and primal but he isn't a man who can do relationships. His need to protect Penny has him and the rest of Alpha Security jumping in feet first to help her find her niece who she believes is being held by a ruthless Hondurian crime lord. Can Rafe manage to keep her safe and keep his head in the game or will his attraction to Penny be too distracting???
