Humorous but not silly. I was surprised as I don't care for books with a lot of antics for lol humor. Will definitely look for more of this talented writer's work.

I love to laugh out loud and Pamela Fagan Hutchins books never fail to do that for me! This is the first in a new series which is a spin off of the Katie & Annalise series. Emily was always helping out in the last series but this time she needs help badly!! Her mother refuses to believe that Emily is not going back to her husband (even though he left her for another man!) and is constantly with her Church group having them say prayers. Mothers do have a way of not really seeing very clearly on occasion! Then someone is murdered at a wedding by an illegal woman. Jack, an attorney in the VERY small town manages to get Emily to work for him. She becomes obsessed with the fact that the womans young daughter is missing. She enlists the aid of a child welfare worker and a woman she met at a coffee shop? Things get pretty dicey!! Will they get the woman off from the murder charge? Will Emily be able to find the little girl in spite of her boss trying to stop her? Can she make her Mom understand? I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy reading this book--it will keep you enthralled and reading from cover to cover!! You know I will be waiting for the rest of this series!!!!!!!

At first I had trouble getting into it but it drew me in quickly as the heroine's life unraveled more and more. It's part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I would read more by this author. The plot is original and the writing and editing are good (especially for a freebie). It's about 250 pages and then there are 100 additional pages of excerpts, etc.

Kate & Annalise was a great series, which led me to this one. Full of enough intrigue, quirky characters, romance and humor to keep you hooked from start to finish. Can't wait for the next Emily book!

When Emily get's her mind on something she doesn't let go. Because of that she seems to be a little girls last hope.

Although the book is entertaining,it is extremely irritating when a writer tries to integrate Spanish into the dialog but doesn't bother do to the least bit of investigation on how to say things in that language, AND assumes that the reader won't know the difference.

Loved the book and quirky characters. The story seemed a little melodramatic at first but I am glad I kept reading. I enjoyed the local characters and the inclusion of native mysticism. I look forward to reading more of this author's work .

It helped that I was familiar with things New Mexico style otherwise I might have been very confused. The plot actually was a short story. The author was was disorganized in her writing. Not sure I would buy any more of her books.

I liked the main character, Emily but her boss and love interest, Jack, is an idiot. Not really interested in reading any further unless he is out of the series. The rest of the characters were good and the story was interesting.

‘Loved the characters. A great and exciting tale. Hard to put down. The book is a bit open ended. Now I have to read the sequel.
