Helle by Helene Nixon

Helene Nixon was born in Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone in Northern Ireland, yet she didn't just focus on the quaintness or rigors of growing up or the Troubles. She explored her journey through life, sometimes with raw seriousness, other times with divine whimsy but always with passion.

Helene's travels took her from Ireland to the Middle East to the United States and all over the world, but no matter where she was she would write, sometimes by hand but more often by typing, her fingers like Fred Astaire on the keys, tap-tap-tapping away long into the wee hours of the night, coffee and cigarettes always nearby.

"Helle" is glimpse into that journey, a collection of Helene Nixon's evocative poems and surviving story fragments arranged to reflect where she was and what she felt along the way.
