Hello, My Love! by E Journey

Beyond broad shoulders and heaving bosoms.

It takes love to face reality and conquer messy feelings.

In this modern-day pastiche of Jane Austen novels, Elise is a bright, beautiful law student, focused on a career and distrustful of men, who butts heads with Greg, an alpha male haunted by past relationships. But unable to deny their feelings, they spend a night together. A jilted fiancée exacts revenge and forces them to face who they are and what they really want.

A delicious romance with a literary slant, spiced with a twist of whodunit.

When I first heard about Hello, My Love I was instantly intrigued. As any longtime reader of my reviews and/or blog knows, I love contemporary fiction. Plus, I'm always eager to read anything inspired by a Jane Austen book. Hello, My Love was well-written and well developed. Basically, if you love slow-burning, intricate romances - this book is for you! However, I had one slight problem with it: I wasn't truly able to connect with the main characters, Greg and Elise. Hello, My Love tells the story of Greg Thorpe and Elise Halverson. Greg Thorpe was once considered one of the most eligible bachelors. Wealthy, successful, and handsome, Greg had no problem getting what he wanted in all facets of life; however, that's all soon to change with impending marriage to a women who he really doesn't know if he loves or really even likes. Elise is law student, passionate about her schoolwork and not much else. She doesn't have the time for romance or relationships and no one has ever really managed to change her mind on the manner. That was until Greg. Thrown together by Halverson family dinners, Greg and Elise go from enemies to friends to something more....but will they get their happily ever after without tragedy? The romance in this was well developed. Spanning over two plus years, Hello, My Love shows the ups and downs of Elise and Greg's fatal attraction. The good as well as the bad times are seen time and time again, and forever, I was left to wonder if they'd ever achieve their happily ever after. I thought Evy did a fantastic job of making this a slow-burning, intricate relationship. We first see Elise and Greg as enemies, fighting and never getting along. Then we see them as friends, or really friendly fighters, agreeing to disagree. Then we see them as something more and then again nothing and so on...It was interesting to see the book really dig deep into their relationship and the events that kept causing them to come together again. The writing in this was also strong. I felt that Evy did a great job of situating between time periods as well as covering a very large time gap in one book. It was ambitious but well done to say the least. There's a lot to like about Elise and Greg. They are both strong, resilient characters. I liked the fact that they both cared a great deal about their careers, especially in the case of Elise. However, I could never truly connect to them. They were likable, don't me wrong, but I could never get past the surface and forge that connection. Sometimes that made it hard for me to get through certain parts of the book. However, even with that slight problem I had, I still suggest you give this a try if you love slow burning romance reads, similar to Jane Austen's classic tales. While Elise and Greg weren't always my cup of tea, it doesn't mean that they won't be yours! Grade: B

Reviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite Hello, My Love: A Modern Love Story by Evy Journey is Book One in the Between Two Worlds series, a well-written romance that is character-driven and uncharacteristically gripping. Elise Halverson may appear to be a serious, intelligent, and career oriented kind of woman. Yes, this beautiful and intelligent girl has a future she’s looking forward to. Not even the handsome and most eligible bachelor, playboy Greg Thorpe, can cause her a moment’s distraction. That is just what she appears to be or to think. But when Greg starts appearing frequently at the dinner parties her parents throw, they begin to bump into each other and, in spite of her discipline and strength of character, Elise Halverson finds herself irrevocably drawn to this man and her protective shell starts cracking. It is on the night before Greg’s wedding that they decide to take their attraction to the next level. For Elise it would just be a “one-night stand” and while Greg might be helpless towards a woman who’s intrigued him all this while, this one night will trigger a chain reaction with painful repercussions. Can the two really belong to each other? What happens to Greg’s fiancée? There is a lot to look forward to in this romance slash mystery story. First off, I am not a keen fan of romance, except this one is so well crafted in the style of Nicholas Sparks. Readers will enjoy the unpredictability of the plot, the twists, and the depth of character. How does a man react to a complicated love triangle? One of the things Evy Journey does so well is that she explores the depth of human emotion and psychology, and it will be interesting to see how the characters evolve through the conflict. Hello, My Love: Between Two Worlds Book 1 is intense, with tight writing in a fast-paced and engaging romance.

A beautiful story of love and law I always love to read books about law or any laws related. There is something that always intrigues me . Elise is one beautiful woman who is studying in becoming a lawyer. I really liked her because she loves to fight and defend especially for minorities and people who does not have money. She belongs to a rich family and her outlook in the future of helping less fortunate is very admirable. Greg in the other hand who is playboy, successful and about to get married in few days. Marriage without love will not work for me. I wonder if all rich people just get married so their business will stay close to the family. It is a shame honestly. Letting go of someone you loved between these characters are not easy. Someone needs to sacrifice to protect the safety of another person. Until with one phone call after two years, flames heated up again. Greg had the biggest surprised of his life. The problem started again with two. Ms. E Journey sure thing know how to tickles you. It makes your heart pump faster. It was not easy ride between these two but good thing everything turned great. If you love romance, law and suspense, you must read this book. I am sure you will love it just like me.
