Broken hearts aren't always broken. Sometimes they're just bruised.

Desperate to forget her worthless ex-boyfriend and the humiliating way in which they parted, Martha Bigalow goes on a long hike in the rain, hoping the dramatic scenery of the English Lake District will ease her unhappy heart. But as she crosses an ancient set of stepping stones, she tumbles into an angry river.

Time Travel. Sideways.

She wakes up in a cave, wearing nothing but her dodgy, mismatched underwear, and her only company is the strange man who saved her life. Tall, dark, and extremely handsome, Vadim definitely has the potential to help Martha forget. But this isn't the twenty-first century, and medieval Erde is nothing like home!

If Martha wants to fit in here, she'll need a lot of help, but Vadim's protection comes at a price. In order to secure his aid, she must assume the role of his "wife."

Vadim is a wanted man. An outlaw.

The last thing his life needs are complications of the female kind. But when he happens upon the strangely attired woman lying beside the river, he cannot abandon her. And so, despite all the risks, and against his better judgment, Vadim offers to help Martha find her way home.

But until then, Martha must adapt to medieval society, avoid the Evil Earl and his minions, and maybe--just maybe--learn how to trust her heart again.

NB: This is NOT a standalone novel. Please steer clear if cliffy endings aren't your thing. This is the first book of an ongoing serial, a bit like a time-travel soap opera!

Categories: Time Travel Romance, Historical, Medieval, Fantasy, Adventure.

Wow, a very good time travel book. And it's free. But, you really need to buy the series. About 350 pages. Try this book out.

This was a great read! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Different and unusual, not the "run of the mill" time travel. Highly entertaining and the twists and turns kept me in suspense. Terrific story.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised by how it grabbed my attention and held it. There were some cliches and some errors, but overall, it was a great read that helped me escape the drudgery of the work day.

Gripping, wonderfully descriptive tale of a 21stcentury woman thrown back to a medeival time. It manages to be its own different tale among the many novels of time travel. Martha & vadim, her moody rescuer fairly sizzles with chemistry. Martha surprises herself with her strength that she never knew she had in surviving betrayal, the harsh yet beautiful environment. It is heartpounding & there is much heartbreak but she also finds love & happiness that she never thought she deserved with a complicated & tortured warrior.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book until in the last few pages it did what many TV shows do at the end of a season -- end with a new cliffhanger. Very frustrating. Although since I had planned to buy book #2 because I enjoyed book #1 so much, it won't be that hard to wait. I enjoyed the descriptions of medieval England. Hopefully the author tried for authenticity. I enjoyed seeing Vadim try to cope with Martha's 20th century mannerisms and habits. It made this a fun read.

Awesome story line. It kept you moving the intire book, never in one place too long to get board with reading. Typically when you get to the end and the main characters find each other the story ends. Not here. It took an unexpected turn and continue the story. What's even better is there is a book two, it's out and I've already purchased to keep reading. Can't wait to start reading.
