About the Author

Britney King writes psychological, domestic, and romantic thrillers set in suburbia. She is currently writing three series and several standalone novels.

The Bedrock series (psychological/domestic/romantic thriller) features an unlikely heroine who should have known better. Turns out, she didn't. Thus she finds herself tangled in a messy, dangerous, forbidden love story and face-to-face with a madman hell-bent on revenge. The series has been compared to Fatal Attraction, Single White Female, and Basic Instinct.

The Water Trilogy (psychological/domestic/romantic thriller) follows the shady love story of an unconventional married couple-- he's an assassin--she kills for fun. It has been compared to a crazier version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Also, the hit series Dexter.

Around The Bend, is a heart-pounding standalone (romantic suspense/domestic/psychological thriller), which traces the journey of a well-to-do suburban housewife, and her life as it unravels, thanks to the secrets she keeps. If she were the only one with things she wanted to keep hidden, then maybe it wouldn't have turned out so bad. But she wasn't.

The With You series (romantic suspense/contemporary romance) is a coming of age, friends to lovers, second chance (plus a few) love story about unlikely friends who travel the world; trying to find themselves, together and apart. It has been compared to Love, Rosie.

Britney lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, children, two dogs, one ridiculous cat, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Britney King loves to deliver a twisted, psychological thriller that makes it almost impossible to put down. Her is another fantastic addition to my reading list and I can hardly wait for more. The truth will set you free, but first it will (tick) you off. Joe Klaus With an opening like that, I grit my teeth and clench my hands tightly around my ereader, anticipating another fabulous psychological thriller from Britney King…and I was not disappointed. When I read the Prologue, I thought, “I wonder what she is setting me up for.” Britney King is very creative when it comes to her villains. Many times she has me rooting for them, making me love them and wanting things to work out for them. Be careful thinking the grass is greener on the other side. It may be infested with evil. Sadie…she is finding out that once you are in, you are never out. Now, how can I turn my back on her. I am bopping along, at a steady pace, watching her be manipulated, twisted, and perverted into keeping some nefarious secrets. Secrets, betrayal…how can she live like that? Britney King has a way of taking a normal neighborhood and with her casual air creates a location of danger and death. Somehow her imagination comes up with way of surprising me, jerking me out of an I know this attitude. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Her by Britney King.

My Thoughts on this book: Right from the beginning this book was effed up, the narrator was plotting the murder of her, whoever who is. We don't find out who they are either until about chapter 2. So it was extremely intriguing right from the start, you are drawn in and kept wanting more. Sadie holds a lot of hostility for Ann right from the very beginning of her being in town and you can tell just by how she talks about her throughout the book, and admits in the narrative that she had avoided her since she came to town before meeting her. Sadie is a divorcee who is desperately trying to win her husband back throughout the book. Ann in contrast is what one would call a certifiable sociopath who continues to have people killed who she feels has jilted her. During the book Ann does many manipulative things for her own ulterior motives under the guise of being a good friend. Such as getting Sadie a job at the school as a substitute teacher when Sadie needed a job, only Ann wanted to use that position for Sadie to spy. This made me feel honestly worried for Sadie. And while I did like this book I feel duty bound to warn people about possible content triggers in this book. I had a lot of trouble with the borderline consent issues in the book, because Ann was so manipulative and mentally abusive she did a lot of things that Sadie does not say no to but that you can tell she is not 100% comfortable with even though she agrees to them, though not explicitly. However, Given the fact that Sadie has been the victim of mental and emotional abuse by her ex husband (which is found later in the book) her response to Ann's behavior is understandable given the similarities between the ex and Ann in behaviour. It just went to show how extremely unlikeable of a character that Ann is. The twist in this book is something that I did not expect and was quite utterly SHOCKED by. All in All I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was intriguing and super fast paced straight from the beginning. Britney knows how to weave a great story and she's done it again in what is hands down her best work yet!

Favorite Quotes: I wish someone had told me: worry is a waste of time. The real troubles of your life will be things that never even bothered to cross your mind. Ann says a lot of things. She believes in survival of the fittest, and she wants everyone else to believe in it too. But there are too many stupid people in this world for me to embrace that notion wholeheartedly. I only wish someone had told me that making friends as an adult isn’t any easier than it is as a kid. It’s worse. You have all of those hardened beliefs and insecurities to contend with. And those at the top? They like to stay there. Her emotions have hairpin turns. My Review: A plethora of adjectives and adverbs came to mind as I raced through Britney King’s Her, but I have yet to find adequate words to encapsulate my thoughts. I am stunned and may be in shock as I’ve never read anything like this. Her was deviously clever, brilliantly crafted, disturbing, surreal, unsettling, and simply riveting to say the least. It was frighteningly brilliant and kept me on edge, off balance, and highly intrigued throughout. I could never get my footing with these intense and alluring sociopaths; I was smirking at their cleverly snarky observations and inner musings one minute and reeling from their heinously twisted plotting and rationalizations in the next. The ingeniously penned storylines were completely unpredictable and enthrallingly contrived, obviously dark magic had to have been invoked. At 85% in, my stomach and jaw both dropped and I couldn’t seem to get enough oxygen into my lungs. Britney King is a wickedly talented wordsmith and a cunning mastermind, and while I greatly admire her mad skills, I would definitely think twice about living in her neighborhood.

Mind-blowing, or maybe that should be mind-bending because this author certainly knows how to mess with your mind. Her is so very dark and has an overall ominous feel from the very first page, and I absolutely couldn't put it down. With Sadie and Ann, King takes the idea of BFF's and twists it beyond recognition. So much so that I often wondered just which one was really in control. As if this pair doesn't create enough of a sinister vibe, we get some truly brilliant and sometimes gruesome twists to keep us on our toes. Everything is definitely not as it seems, and just when you think you have it figured out, you don't. I've enjoyed everything I've read by Britney King, but I do believe this one is her best work to date. She's certainly set the bar high for whatever comes next, and I for one will be impatiently waiting to see what her imagination can dream up for us next.

This novel is an exceptional psychological thriller, masterfully written, carefully plotted and brilliantly paced. In her own unique style, Ms. King has created characters so dark and a storyline so breathtakingly twisting that you will only think you have it "figured out". I could not out this one down until I finished this rollercoaster ride. If you haven't read anything by this author before, make sure HER is one you read. And then read everything else she has written. She is that brilliant!

Thanks to the author for sending me a free copy of the book. You know how sometimes you can read a book by an author and it’s EVERYTHING and you’re convinced there’s no way anyone will ever be able to top it? That’s Britney King. I picked this one up expecting it to be a great ride, and it turned out to be insanity at its finest. I read Speak of the Devil last fall (I know, I know, I started that trilogy at the wrong end) and was gobsmacked. I remember everyone telling me to read more by her and wait for it, but they’re not always right, you know? It turns out they were, though. Ok, so about this book. . . I don’t even know where to start. I mean, King gives us a prologue that drops us smack dab in the middle of a psychopath’s mission. “She thinks she can migrate, start a new life elsewhere, someplace where she can be whatever she wants to be. But she’s forgetting two things: wherever you go, there you are. Also, there are people like me.” Seriously. How do you read something like that and not start tearing through the pages at a breakneck pace just to figure out who these people are?! You don’t. Or at least that was the case for me. I stayed up until a highly inappropriate hour for someone who had an 8:00 AM appointment the next day as I found myself falling deeper and deeper into this web. At first, I thought it was going to be pretty straightforward: she’s a total jerk, and she’s a victim (these vague ‘she’ references are intentional. You’re welcome.). But it definitely wasn’t that simple. Personality traits were revealed, morals were thrown right out the window, and the proverbial poop was hitting the fan a little harder with every page turn. Every time I’d finish a chapter, I’d have a moment where I thought “Ok, now I get it. Now I see where this is going.” And then I’d read the next chapter and it would happen all over again. If you are looking for a psychological thriller to blow your socks off, to keep you up past your bedtime, to keep you guessing about every next move and motive, or characters that you’re going to love to hate, Her needs to be your next read. I can’t rave about this one enough. GO READ THIS BOOK!!

Sadie's husband has left her. Ann moves into the neighborhood and they become friends.A lot of emotions are displayed through the characters that are developed quite well. This is one thriller that kept me guessing what will happen next. I never expected the surprise ending. What a thrill ride.

Sadie meets "her". the woman who lives down the street and is in awe. Ann is an author of some self help books, has social media accounts. But more than that she is the kind of woman that everyone loves ..and hates. Sadie decides that she wants Ann's life ... her perfect children, her perfect husband, the one who gives perfect dinner parties, the one everyone wants for a best friend. It seems like it's Sadie's good fortune ... Ann has indicated that she and Sadie would be good friends. But what Ann doesn't tell Sadie is that there is a consequence for being her friend. Sadie will have to decide how much she can live with in order to remain friends. Told almost entirely by Sadie, there are many twists and turns that keep the reader glued to each and every page. I wouldn't call it highly suspenseful, but there's enough tension in wanting to know what is going to happen next. The characters, especially Ann, were not what I expected and the ending was quite a surprise. Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I was chomping at the bit to get my eyes on Britney's newest piece, Her. The book is delightfully awesome. A fantastic story with twists, turns, deep characters, exceptional and refreshing writing in such a compelling relatable way. The emotion and devious ways of the characters make you wonder about your own neighbors! I am left with my mouth hanging open! I loved it! Britney, you have a brilliant gift and I await your next unique story!
