Poppy, Kelly, and Logan had once been inseparable, but that was a lifetime ago. Poppy made a life for herself in New York, and Kelly and Logan made a life for themselves together, contrary to everything Poppy and Logan had planned when they were young and in love. A year has passed since Kelly died, and Poppy 's returned to South Dakota, to the home Logan once shared with Kelly, to make things right again. But Logan doesn 't know what Poppy knows about his marriage, and he wants nothing more than for Poppy to leave, just like she did before, and never look back. The Verdict: Ugh. I had such high hopes for this one, but it just didn 't pan out for me. But I think that 's more a reflection of me than it is of the writing. The chemistry between Poppy and Logan was great, and I was even okay with all that anger he harbored over her leaving so many years ago — or rather over her staying gone. But as their past was revealed and the truth came out about his marriage to Kelly, I just began to lose interest. Poppy and Logan had been in love, determined to make a go of it even after her parents moved her to New York, and Kelly — the quiet, sweet best friend — turned out to be a scheming, manipulative liar. I get that teenage girls who think they 're in love can do and say some pretty awful things, but to pull what she did? Unforgivable. It made the story something I just didn 't want to read about, which sucks, since the writing was pretty great. Anyhow, I 'm guessing most people who love romance novels will also love this one. I guess maybe I was just looking for and expecting something different, and the back-story put a different shine on things than what I normally enjoy. I think I might keep on with the series, though. Like I said, the writing was good, so here 's hoping that the next books are more my cup of tea.

Her Dakota Man By Lisa Mondello Dakota Hearts Series Book 1 Poppy Ericksen left everything she had ever known when her parents moved the family from Rudolph, South Dakota to New York. She also left her friends and her heart. A heart that splintered into a million pieces when the man she loved married her best friend instead of coming for her as promised. Ten years later she returns to make sure he knows the truth of their past. And hoping that somehow she can still have a future with him. Logan McKinnon has been angry at Poppy for ten years. First for moving on without him and then for pulling her friendship away. She didn't even come to Kelly's funeral. His wife and her best friend. But what is worse is that he realizes that ten years apart did nothing to erase what he feels for her. And that only adds to the guilt he has been carrying for so long. The first of the McKinnon stories brings the reader to a small town that has been devastated by a storm. Two people have to face a past that has been shrouded in lies. We get to meet Logan's twin brother Ethan and his brother Hawk. Their stories are yet to come. I loved the story and the characters. It tugged on my emotions both with humor and a few teary moments. Looking forward to the next three books in this series. **Sexual content

Book One of the Five Book Dakota Hearts series is the story of Poppy and Logan... Logan is one of five McKinnon brothers born and raised in Rudolph, So. Dakota... Good reading, excellent believable characters, good story lines and well written except for a number of grammatical errors throughout the entire series...  BUT, read these books in order because if you don't the story line is hard to piece together... I hate reading a book when I know before Page One what the ending is because the series is out of order...  Her Dakota Man is Book One and is 378 Noon Pages... Book Two is Badlands Bride, Regis and Keiths (Hawk)  story and 231 pages... Book Three, is Dakota Heat, Summer and Sam's story and 71 pages... Book Four is Wild Dakota Heart, Maddie and Ethan's story and 72 pages and Book Five is His Dakota Bride, Skylar and Wade's story and only 67 Pages... There will be a Book Six, Ian's story... He is a cousin of the lively, handsome and loveable McKinnon Brothers... Don't be disappointed in the length of these books since each is as long as it needs to be to tell the story... Each story is original and unique and I think you will enjoy this "family very much"...

Kelly, Poppy and Logan were best friends in High School. Poppy and Logan were in love but Poppy parents were moving to New York so they promised to try to come back to each other after High School. Kelly loves Logan too and plans on getting him. Kelly, Poppy and Logan have a life full of secrets and lies. After Kelly dies Poppy comes back like she promised Kelly she would. Can these lies be told. Exciting story of friendship, Love and lies. Well done.

A 95 page free romance story and first in series of a young woman returning to her childhood home to complete the promise to her dying best friend, and to face her friend's husband, the man she has always loved with the truth about the lies. Angst, passion, deceit, pathos, guilt, and love. A few typos and the writing format changed in transitioning to Nook. But the content of story is a well-written involved love triangle.

I really liked this story, loved the characters and how it left you with no cliffhangers. It was a bit sad at some points finding out what Logans wife did to them that got me so angry at her. I will definitely keep reading ebooks from this author:)

Good story, but also not the book for me.  I agree with reviewer "Good writing, but not the book for me."   I read the book with an open mind.  After reading a good romance book, I feel good and I that warm and fuzzy feeling.  The book was good, but this is not one that I will re-read. I gave it 3 stars because it is a good story, just not the type of story for me. Good writing reviewer was right! *vrnb*

cannot hate the fact that his wife's deceit gave him his son, but for logan and poppy to totally absolve her is absurd. She was evil and undeserving of their forgiveness.
