Overview

Her Favorite Hot Doc by Barbara Lohr

Romance isn't on his mind when Dr. Logan Castle meets midwife McKenna Kirkpatrick, but give her time. McKenna presents a challenge for the head of her department when she joins Montclair Specialty Hospital. She's good at riling things up, and Logan soon learns he likes to be riled. Ranked a Chicago Hot Doc, Logan favors established protocols while McKenna likes to push the envelope. She's been brought on board to shake things up and Logan gets the message when they work together on a hospital project. He may be a Hot Doc but soon learns McKenna generates her own heat. Has he ever met a woman this outrageous? Has she ever been this drawn to a colleague's bedside manner?
Although their chemistry is off the charts, soon the two can't agree on professional or personal priorities. Does Hot Doc harbor a hurt that makes a future impossible? He's like the chocolates hidden in her desk, so very hard to resist. When Logan joins Midwives in Action for a summer mission trip to Guatemala, McKenna wonders if working together in the remote highlands of Central America will resolve their differences... or end the romance for the Windy City girl. Her Favorite Hot Doc is the third book in the Windy City Romance series.

I love Barbara Lohr's Windy City Romances. The entire Kirkpatrick clan makes appearances in most of the stories. (We should get lots of stories since McKenna has a sister and 5 brothers!) This story is well written. The characters are full developed. I had some chores that did not get done because I was too busy reading this book! I highly recommend this book and the others in this series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this story. It was a sweet tale of an OB/GYN and a midwife that are both based out of the same hospital. McKenna is sweet and loves her job as a midwife. She seems like a go-getter who does what is necessary to get her job done, but she isn't egotistical and can ask for help when needed. I loved seeing her with Logan. He is sweet, a bit mysterious, and down to earth, despite being labeled one of the Hot Docs. Their journey is touching. I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed the flow of the story. You get to cover a lot of time, but the jumps in time are easy to follow, so I was never confused. Once you start reading, it will be hard to put down. Part of me wishes we got to see more interactions between the couple, but the book is great just the way it is.

Her Favorite Hot Doc is another wonderful addition to the Windy City Romance series. I feel like with each book, the series just gets better and better. There are plenty of ups and downs in this book, and I enjoyed being swept along the journey with the characters.    The love story between McKenna and Logan is my favorite out of the three so far. They each have their own issues, and I enjoyed the character development throughout this book though I would have liked a bit more. The pacing is phenomenal. If you're looking for a romantic and light summer read, you have to pick up the Windy City Romance series!  **I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review with no compensation.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a wonderful story of two people who fall in love. All the characters were likeable - not one of them was on my hate list. The storyline flowed well and kept moving at a brisk pace. I read this book in one sitting! The author has a way with words, in that she can make you feel like you are standing in the room with the characters. Hope there will be more in this series!

What do a midwife and ob-gyn have to cement a relationship besides delivering babies as their profession? What obstacles will they need to overcome in the pursuit of happiness and working together in the hospital and Guatemala while on a visit to help a community? McKenna is a strong woman with a feisty personality but a few insecurities where relationships are concerned. Logan is scarred from a previous loss. Their story is interesting to read with some ups and downs while they find their way. The trip made by a group of midwives and a doctor to a village in rural Guatemala bring to light the situation many must face in the world and how much difference having skilled medical help can make in the lives of those that take the time and make the effort to go and help when they can.

Somewhat Predictable but a Charming Romance  Her Favorite Hot Doc is book 3 in the Windy City Series. The main characters are McKenna, a midwife/nurse practitioner, and Logan, an OBGYN and head of OBGYN. Our setting is a major hospital in Chicago. Lohr does an excellent work describing various aspects of hospital life. Attention is given to the role of a midwife as part of a woman's choice in her birth plan and the possibility of water birth fir those women who choose. I was not particularly impressed with the depth of character development. Even with our main characters we only see a part of who they are. The storyline flows fairly well. I did find the first couple chapters to read very stoically but much improvement as continued. Some parts of the romance were absurdly predictable while some were simply delightful. I really appreciate Lohr not givimg into the cookie cutter uaed in many romances. That being a string of steamy sexual scenes given in graphic detail with little if anything else weitten. Lohr sbows a steamy attraction between Logan and McKeena while not allowing these to take the book hostage. One of my favorite parts is the Guatemale Medical Mission trip. Lohr is exceptional in portraying the needs women have there and the appreciation shown for assistance. Overall this was an easy afternoon read.
