A female physician with an adopted black daughter? The townsfolk of Idaho Bend will never accept Dr. Mercy Gabriel—even when faced with a deadly cholera epidemic. But all Mercy needs is one man willing to listen…and to trust.

I couldn't put this down, I read it nearly straight through. The action kicks off right away. Panic and illness bringing two people together to take charge and form a bond. Lon the man with a wounded and haunted past, Mercy who lives up to her name, a woman of infinite goodness. Surprises, suspense, drama, tragedy, romance, family, loyalty and friendship, this one makes the rounds of all the good elements of writing in one shot. If you're a fan of this type of book or looking to try one, you can't go wrong here. Even those who are reading outside their usual genre will find themselves pulled into the story I think.I was.
