Well, the first thing I have to say about this one is that Craig is an a-hole. A big one. You're set up to dislike him, and it just keeps getting worse. He treats our star, Amelia, like she's five years old and needs to be taken care of in every way, incapable of making her own decision. But, Amelia isn't having any of it. In fact, she's determined to get a boyfriend and have an amazing date. But of course we have complications. That complication comes in the form of her brother's best friend, Lucas. Who also happens to be the man she's had a crush on her entire life. Thins sort of steamroll on Amelia, and I continue to wonder if her brother had anything to do with it. It seems like she just can't catch a break - it's actually a little too much. Instead of waiting for her and Lucas to get together, I started wondering what was going to wrong next. The ending was quite abrupt. It seemed like it hit an HEA brick wall and suddenly it was over. I prefer to see a little bit more of a wind down, myself. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*
Linda Joyce's Her Heart's Desire Welcome to Harvest, Kansas!! It is a beautiful rural farm area. Amelia( Lia ) Britton has come home to family farm. Her parents suddenly died leaving the farm to her and her brother, Craig. Lia wants to stay and manage the farm but Craig has other ideas. Craig refuses to see the woman Lia has become and tries to treat like a father instead of a brother. Craig gives her one year to pay off the mortgage and manage the farm’s crops harvest. Craig has enlisted the help of his best friend, Lucas Dwyer to keep an eye on Lia. Lucas Dwyer, after returning from Afghanistan, finds the bank has foreclosed on his family’s farm. He starts a combine service to help send her sister to school. Lucas realizes that he loves Lia. He doesn’t want her to lose the Britton farm. The story is power packed with emotion. Lia is a strong character that can face real challenges. Does she love Lucas? What will happen if she loses the farm? The book is intriguing, well plotted, with vivid characters, some suspense, drama and romance. The author is able to weave the past and present together effortlessly. Her Heart’s Desire is the first book in the Sunflower Series. Gentleman Jack, Lia’s dog is an added flavor to the story. What an enjoyable read!!! Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.
Can love conquer all? This book was a truly wonderful read! You meet Lia who sadly has dealt with a lot in the last year. Her home enriches her art, but there is a chance she may lose it. The man she loves has rejected her before... can she open herself to him again? How many times can someone be knocked down? So much happens in this story. Lia and Lucas are characters that pulls at your emotions. Their journey to finding happiness has so many ups and downs... you turn page after page to see how things progress. Great secondary characters that add to the book! I am looking forward to seeing more in this series! *A copy of the book was gifted in exchange for an honest review.
