While this story has all of the attributes to make it a highland romance, I had trouble feeling drawn into the story

A most intriguing book, this is my first read by Violetta Rand and I enjoyed it very much. It was a story of Aileana the kitchen maid, and Errol MacRae, the next in line Laird. It was well written about life in medieval Scotland with hardship, inequality of subjects, dislike between clans, deception, mystery, and of course, love and romance. You will think you know all of the mystery concerning Aileana, but with a few surprises along the way, you find there is more to the story. "Her Highland Rogue" is fast paced, has a flow to the story that will draw you in and have you turning the last page before you know it. It is an overall fun read, so if historical romances are your genre, then I recommend you pick this one up. I would like to thank NetGalley and Loveswept for gifting me with a copy of "Her Highland Rogue" and asking me for my honest opinion. This is mine. 4 Stars!

I was given a gifted copy by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Aileana is a young girl who has been adopted by the MacRae clan when she was found alone and without any memory of who she was. Errol is the laird’s only child. A young man who is sent after Aileana when she flees after having been cornered in the kitchen by one of the MacRaes. A well-written story which flows easily and quick to read. I like the relationship between Errol and Aileana, how they trust each other. I enjoyed every page of it.

This is my first book by Violetta Rand and I very much enjoyed it. Errol the wayward heir to Laird MacRae only really thinks of himself and his pleasure. With his father sick and dying he's sent to find Aileana a lass that's run off after and indecent groping from one of his men. He's not to come back without her. He knows the lass runs instead of facing the problem. He's made it his goal to rid his mind of Aileana the red headed beauty of his youth. Once he finds her he will me Array her off and rid himself of her for food. That is until he finds her and his possessiveness takes over and he wants her for his own. But with danger all around and spy's in the keep will he be able to keep her or will she flee again?

This tale is historically awesome. I love how Rand develops the time period in question. It was an unforgettable expense and the perfect balance between fiction and reality. Rand has created a novella that was sweet and hot at the same time. I love the ebb and flow of the dialogue. It's natural and easy to follow without being of this time. This is the type of story that leaves you smiling and sets you daydreaming, even amidst the chaos. I can't comment much on the characters in this tale without giving away too much of the plot. It was comical when these two finally got together. I love how history and the plot came together in a fantastic and heartwarming moment. I will say that they were captivating and the type of characters that I truly wanted to get to know. Rand’s character development definitely does them justice. This novel is a fantastic mix between history and romance. It's a must read for anyone who enjoys the genre. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Loved the story of Errol and Aileana. Errol, the Laird's son, had known Aileana ever since his father took her in as an orphan. Aileana never knew her family but always wished to know who she came from. By the time Errol realized he loved her it was almost too late. Not going to give any secrets away but finding out about her past and what family she came from was a really good read! I do wish we could have had more information about her parents and their history and what her mother was capable of...(You'll understand when you read it!) Still, the love story was awesome!

Priceless is what I think of the prologue and opening chapter of this book. The prologue sets the reader up for the full flavor of this story. It leaves the reader wanting to know what happened to the lady in the cave. Then the first chapter opening is 17 years later and shows the main male character in all his glory or should I spoiledness. But the genius of this writing was it drew me in and I was very intrigued to see how this young man, Errol, could possibly become a hero. Aileana for me I did put two and two together about who I thought she was, but honestly it was more like two plus two divided by three plus one. Yes a very complicated story with the mystery behind who she really was and how she came to be with the MacRaes. I liked her sweet character that could become fiery and fearless when need. She was an interesting fully faceted character and it was fun watching her become more sure of herself. For me there are many children in our world who do not know their father or mother and this book dealt with how this formed Aileana's belief in herself and her future. I like that the authors words show a person how to be strong and realize that you are enough inspite of this situation or what others say about you. Okay I am willing to admit that one should not always judge a book by its cover and so was my first impression of Errol in comparison to my final impression of him. He went from someone I could not admire to someone who was well rounded, honorable as well as caring. This book is about honor and making choices that one can not change or fix. It's about creating a new future from past mistakes. I give it 4 STARS and I think everyone would enjoy this book. A copy was gifted by the publisher for an honest review.

Great historical read! With the health of his father taking a turn for the worse, Errol knows that his freedom will soon be at an end and he will have to accept his duties as leader. He is surprised when his father sends him out to find Aileana who has fled to the mountains. This read had me hooked from beginning to end, so much suspense and drama, the chemistry between Errol and Aileana is steamy. I loved it.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Wild Highland Guardian series written by Catherine Ferguson. Violetta Rand. Errol MacRae’s father’s has taken a turn for the worse and rumors are swirling that the crown intends to transfer ancient lands into the hands of the MacKenzies. Aileana vividly remembers how the MacRaes rescued her and welcomed her into their clan. For ten years, she has served them loyally until the night she’s nearly despoiled by one of the laird’s captains. Aileana risks her life and her reputation to seek refuge in the snowcapped peaks of the Five Sisters, the one place that has always felt like home. This book has a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I found this a compelling read. She did not know where she came from but she found a home with the MacRae clan. Errol MacRae had watch Aileana since she came to the clan but not too closely as he became a man. It took one sentence to get him to take that closer look. The heat between the two was intense. I loved Aileana's honesty and head strong ways. Errol helped her grow through his love. Things get in the way, and Errol is ready to give up on her. His father makes him look at things differently and Errol stands up for his heart's desire. I loved this book and look forward to the rest of the series. I highly recommend this story. I received a copy through Netgalley for an honest review.

I can’t help being trite when I speak the truth so I’ll tell it like it is. This was my first book by Ms. Rand…but it will most definitely not be my last…I enjoyed this first one that much. Ms. Rand wrote plainly so that her vision of early life in Scotland was very clear. I literally felt I was walking in the heroine’s (Aileana’s) footsteps and experiencing her humiliations, joys and dreams. I was proud of her as she “came into her own” out of her fearful, solitary shell and stood up for herself. I felt her joy when the hero (Errol) she had admired from a distance opened his eyes to Aileana’s beauty and kind, sweet nature. I understood firsthand the feuds between the clans and the plight of women and the men at warfare in the Highlands. I recommend Ms. Rand’s storytelling highly. A complimentary copy of this book was given to me by Net Galley for an honest review.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. 3.5 Stars 'Her Highland Rogue' by Violetta Rand is book one in the "Wild Highland Guardian" series. This is story is about Aileana and Errol MacRae. Aileana was found when she was about 10 years old in the forest starved, cold and alone. She was taken in by the McRae and stayed there until one day one of the men tried to assault her. Aileana took off into the woods again. Now Error is told to go and look for her which Error is not all that excited to do. Error knows that his days of roaming are over since his father doesn't seem to be in good health. Now he finds himself looking for Aileana when he would rather be enjoying a women. Although Errol and Aileana have lived in the same Highland Tribe they never really interacted enough to know one another. I defaulted to 3.5 stars because I thought Errol was not a manly Highlander that I like...he was somewhat young in thoughts/actions. But overall enjoyed the book. Captivating Scottish adventure! Amazing introduction, for Violetta Rand's new series, Wild Highland Guardians, with her first story, Her Highland Rogue! I'm so glad that this talented author, decided to write a Scottish series! She didn't disappoint me! It's a story of secrets, betrayal, forgiveness, hope and love! If you love an adventure through the Highlands, then this one, will be perfect for you, I strongly recommend it. Once upon a time, Sgurr, fell in love with two men and gave birth, secretly to a little girl, who was left abandoned in the wood and found by Clan MacRae. It tells the story of Errol MacRae, future Laird of his clan and Aileana, who served his people as a kitchen maid. But destiny has other plans for her! Errol’s days of having women across the Highlands has to end soon! So he isn’t pleased when his father sends him to find Aileana who, fearing for her life, fled into the mountains. What happened to her? Will he find her? And as soon as he discovers her, sparks flare all over and ignite a beautiful relationship! They journey back, will be filled with twists and turns! Will their love be strong enough to survive against the odds? I loved her secondary character, Sgurr who's intervention in the plot, added mystery! What can I say, I spent hours of pleasure reading Her Highland Rogue! I received a copy of this book, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review!

Errol MacRae will soon become the leader of his clan, with his father's failing health. He must soon marry and produce an heir to fulfill his duties to his clan. When he is tasked by his father to save a young maid from running away, he finally meets his match. Aileana has been a servant for the MacRae clan for as long as she can remember. She can't remember her past, nor does she know who her parents are, she believes she is no one of importance. She has been drawn to Errol for as long as she has been at the MacRae castle, when he turns his eyes towards her for his wife, she has a hard time resisting. She is definitely a strong woman, who grows into the role she was born for. Lots of intrigue in this book from Rand, no one is who they seem to be. I love a romance that manages to surprises me with the plot, which can be hard to do since I have read a lot of books. There is plenty of suspense, humor, and twists along the way. A fun read! I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Warning: If you are a Violetta Rand fan, this romance is on the sweeter side. Yes, there is still sex but not like her other series, so don't let that surprise you.
