Her Lone Cowboy by Donna Alward

"Grouchy Noah was a challenge, but a Noah who started to trust Lily was far more difficult to handle…"

Noah Laramie has come back home to run Lazy L Ranch. Injured and now out of the army, he wants to shut himself off from the world.

Lily Germaine is just there to help him, but loner Noah is the most stubborn-as-a-mule man she's ever met. Losing an arm doesn't mean he has to lose sight of who he is. His courage, strength and loyalty make him one in a million. She just needs to convince him of that….

As a favor to her friend Jen, Lily Germaine agreed to drop off groceries for Noah Laramie. As a teacher, she did not have to work in the summertime and had the free time to spare. Upon seeing Noah, she learned that he is recovering from an injury he sustained while he was in the Army. Noah Laramie did not expect to see Lily Germaine at his door. With the loss of his right arm, he was coming to terms with how much his life has changed. He came to his hometown to recover and work for his brother Andrew at the Lazy L Ranch. Andrew and Jen arrive, and they announce they are going to be married. They request that Lily be their maid of honor and Noah to be the best man. Both Lily and Noah are reluctant to agree; Noah for the obvious reason in that he doesn't wish to be put on display, Lily because it will bring up painful memories of the past. Both of them realize they can't let down Andrew and Jen and agree to their request. Lily offers to help Noah prepare for the wedding. He is reluctant to accept her offer of help but knows he will not be able to do it alone. Lily refuses to allow Noah to feel less of a man because of his disability. Her strong will and determination is the medicine he needs for his darkest hours. Noah's feelings towards Lily intensify, but he fears that she deserves more than he can be able to give her. Will these two kindred souls put their pasts behind them and be able to see the love before their eyes? HER LONE COWBOY is by far the BEST emotional romance I have found in 2010. There was so many scenes that I reread just so that I could see them without tears in my eyes. Noah Laramie is a true hero; he gave the greatest sacrifice for his country and now he is faced with learning to live with a permanent disability. Lily is just the type of person Noah needs to bring sunshine to his life. Such beloved characters as these two are hard to forget. I feel so rewarded for having discovered Donna Alward's talents; she has earned a lifelong fan.

Barnes and Noble advertised this book as large print. When it arrived, it was larger print which is much smaller than Large Print. This book was not as advertised.

I just finished Donna Alward's Her Lone Cowboy and I have to say I loved this book!! Noah is a cowboy who has lost an arm while oversees in duty and has now returned home to heal. During his return home he meets Lily, a woman who has her own issues with trust and relationships. What I loved about this book was Noah and how the author managed to make his physical challenges an obstacle he needed to overcome, making him both vulnerable and sexy at the same time (the scene where she removed his shirt was definitely a favourite!). Lily was a great foe for his stubborness and her own growth in the book was never overshadowed by his - which I think was a difficult balance to achieve. It could have been easy to make this a "feel sorry for the hero" book, but Ms. Alward's writing never allowed it to fall into that trap. If you're in the mood for a good old-fashioned romance this is definitely a book I'd recommend!
