Her Name Is Grace by Shidorr Myrick-Gayer

Brooke is a guilt-stricken, battered woman who finds out she is pregnant. For the sake of her unborn child, she tries to change her outlook on life, but she is murdered before she gets the chance.

The angel planet, Mahlai, is a place where certain children who die on Earth are taken to be trained as guardian angels, since new angels are no longer being created. Unbeknownst to Brooke, her unborn child, Grace, will be a very special child. Grace's daily agenda consists primarily of guardian training with her fellow trainee and best friend, Max. However, during off hours, Grace and Max explore the planet and often find themselves in forbidden areas. It is on one of these adventures that Grace discovers the power of the Well, which is a portal that the angels of Mahlai use to watch after the people of Earth. Through the Well's power, Grace falls in love with a boy on Earth named Sam. She becomes obsessed with discovering a way to leave Mahlai to be with her Earthly crush.

Torn between the obligation of the world she lives in and the longing to be in the world where Sam lives, everything Grace has worked for will be put to the test as she chooses between what she was trained to do and what her heart tells her she must do if she wants to achieve the happiness she is destined to attain.

I highly recommend this book for any lover of fiction novels. The author does an awesome job of developing the characters and holding the reader's attention. You'll fall in love with Grace, Max, and Sam and then you'll bite your fingernails because you'll be so emotionally invested in these characters. Truthfully, this is a really interesting novel and, hopefully, someday a producer will likely put it on the big screen. Well done!

This book is well written and for people who love to read and those who don't because it is jam packed with action and suspense so you never want to put the book down. The author uses descriptive imagery throughout the book so that the readers can clearly see in their heads this new world she creates. Although the majority of the characters are not human, she uses the intrigue of human emotions and behaviors to connect the reader to the characters, which allows you to deeply care what happens to them. She does a great job creating a new world with unfamiliar character types, but defines these things so well that you become consumed by this new reality. The twists and turns keep the reader from ever knowing what is going to happen. A great, quick read filled withd suspense.

The author kindly gifted me a copy of this fantastic read. It's tough to review this book without spoilers but I promise not to ruin anything. I really loved this book and the whole concept Myrick-Gayer has created. She did an amazing job of making it all so real. I'll start with first impressions, the cover is stunning! Its so simple in the most beautiful of ways, and as I read I found that it was a perfect representation of the story. It is a true reflection of what's to come. The characters in this novel are very independant and relatable. The way they all tie together makes the storyline flow and really drew me in. The first chapter had me a little confused at first but looking back i'm glad Myrick-Gayer did it this way because you learn so much about the world's she has created and the way every little detail means so much. Everthing truely happens for a reason, and the reason it all happens I just really wasn't expecting. From the beginning I knew Grace was special but the way it unfolds is magical. Mahlai makes everthing seem beautiful and I love how unique it is. The way it shows things is a whole new take on angels and guardians. The plot is really well formed and it kept me guessing. Overall it's imaginitive in depth and a great read. I really had to have time to read it because I wanted to take it all in and enjoy the little things. I'm really looking forward to the sequel. I could re-read this one over and over.

This book is for someone who loves to read books that are fictional, romantic or of fantasy all in one. I love this book!! It gives the reader "the best of both worlds". Instead of wondering what goes on in heaven or what would it be like, now I can read about it and all the adventures through Grace. I can’t wait for part two!!
