Her Pirate Heart by Lisa Ann Verge

Another adventurous historical romance from the RITA-nominated author of seventeen novels, Lisa Ann Verge

"A rousing swashbuckler . . . a wonderful read!" --RT Book Reviews

When the ravages of war destroy her world, newly-orphaned Adriana Joubert binds her chest and slips into the disguise of a sailor boy. With nothing left to lose, she's determined to sign on to the boldest pirate ship in Saint Malo Bay. She figures she'll help the captain capture a few rich prizes, and a lifetime of security will surely follow.

But the notorious Captain Wolfe has better things to do than hunt English ships and Spanish galleons. He launches his motley crew clear across the world in pursuit of a man who owes him blood. He soon unmasks the smart-mouthed, dirty-faced ship's-boy and, for her protection, confines her to his own cabin. But as mutiny brews and his enemy comes into sight, Captain Wolfe realizes that his greatest battle will be to win Adriana's heart.

This story was all that you could ask for... intrigue, humor, suspense and of course romance. I started this book and really could not stop reading until the end. Lisa Ann Verge is a master storyteller who pulls the reader in from the first page and does not stop until the end. The story begins in 1693 France and travels to the new America that was still an untamed country in many ways. Captain Wolfe, as he was known, was really Roarke Cameron, an Englishman and a pirate who sailed the seas to plunder and kill the English, or so all thought. He really was set upon revenge. Adriana Joubert, was a slip of a girl who disguised herself as a boy since she was very young and had worked as a hand on many ships. As fate would have it, she ended up on Roarke's ship as a crew member and fooled everyone until her disguise was uncovered by the captain. What follows is suspenseful tale that brings up many prejudices of the times and a love that cannot be denied. I cannot wait to read the next book by this talented author and know that I will be taken away to another time and place. This is a must read if you love historical romances..
