Who knew a box of dildos would weigh so much?
Kelsey Kyle watched her reflection juggle her parcels in the high-gloss metal of the elevator doors as she headed to the VIP level of the Masquerade Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Yeah, she could have taken the cart offered to her by "Pervy" Dave who worked as a bellhop, but he got her hackles up, and she didn't want to accept any of his assistance. Now, she was regretting her decision.
Of course the elevator stopped at almost every floor and dumped out passengers as she made her way to the Executive Level concierge floor, where they were housing the VIP guests of the eighteenth annual Romance Lovers' Convention. The actual event didn't start for two days, but already attendees were pouring into Sin City to either enjoy the nightlife or to set up displays and have meetings.
It was because of the early arrival of the folks from Love You Big Time that she was rising above the ground forty floors carrying enough sex toys to keep an orgy going for at least a couple of days. Once again, she'd saved the day for a guest and even Perry, the second shift Head Concierge, had to offer up one of his smiles that never quite showed in his eyes.
"Fuck you too, Perry," she muttered under her breath, remembering at the last moment that she wasn't alone in the elevator.
She glanced over and smiled at the older couple wearing sandals with socks and carrying bags with labels from some of the pricier tourist traps, and wished they'd come to the concierge to ask about where to shop. As a lifelong Las Vegan, she knew where to go to get the best and cheapest anything. It was why she was always the most highly rated Junior Concierge at the Masquerade and why she was a shoo-in for the spot in the management trainee program. She'd worked her ass off for years, during college and after, to get to this point.
The spot in the program and the subsequent job at the Masquerade would give her extra cash to pay for her mother's special medical care. With her dad still working, her share was more than enough, but he wanted to retire and she wanted him to take it easy for a change. She took a moment to send a prayer to Lady Luck, the patron saint of Las Vegas.
"Have a great day," she said to the couple as they got off on their floor and waved. The doors slid shut and she adjusted the heavy box again as her Bluetooth device beeped in her ear. Kelsey threw up a silent prayer of thanks that the device was voice-activated, because there was no way in hell she could let go of the box to tap a button. "This is Kyle."
Perry's voice, even insincere over the wireless, assaulted her ear. "Kyle, you need to come back down here when you're done delivering the parcels. We have a special request from a high-roller VIP, and since you're so used to playing Supergirl, it's yours."
She stuck her tongue out at him even though he couldn't see it. He never failed to give her a hard time. She would have been ass hurt about it, but he treated everyone the same way. It was like he was always waiting for someone to make that one mistake so he could throw it up in their face for eternity. But she didn't make mistakes, and she would always do whatever it took to get the job done. If the request was impossible, she got the guest the next best thing or something better. She was that good.
"I'll grab my cape and fly on down as soon as I've completed my deliveries," she said.
"Uh huh," he grunted into the phone and disconnected.
She refrained from verbalizing the thoughts running through her head, since she wasn't one hundred percent sure that he couldn't tap into the security feed in the elevator, but she thought them ... oh yes, she did. The cab stopped at her floor, and she heaved out a sigh of exertion as she readjusted the box and prepared to step out onto the Executive Level. Once she was in possible sight of guests, she needed to be professional and poised. A perfect example of the superb hospitality offered by the Masquerade.
A quick ding and swoosh of the metal doors and Kelsey put one high-heeled pump on the plush carpet and walked as briskly down the hall as she could, stopping in front of the suite currently occupied by Micah Holmes, the New York Times bestselling novelist and hermit. He'd checked in the previous Friday night, and the only evidence that he was still alive was the requests for extra towels, and orders placed to room service and Barakoa, the coffee shop. According to her review of his file, Mr. Holmes loved his bath linen plentiful and his caffeine "black, strong, and not filled with any of that hipster sweet crap."
Good to know. And it was her job to know since he would be her responsibility from today until the conclusion of the romance convention. The fact that he was her very favorite author had nothing to do with the flutter in the pit of her stomach.
"Professional, Kelsey. Not a fangirl," she muttered to herself.
Kelsey pressed the buzzer next to the door and waited, listening to the sound of footsteps on the marble floor in the foyer of the suite. The lock tumbled and it swung open to reveal a tall man wearing a black T-shirt that read "I'm still kind of mad they never actually told us how to get to Sesame Street." The snort of laughter pushed past her lips before she could stop it but immediately dried up in her throat when her eyes traveled back up and got a long, full look at his face.
Micah Holmes was fucking hot.
Gorgeous. Dark eyes framed by heavy-rimmed glasses, cleft chin peeking out from the several days' growth of beard, and dark, coffee-colored hair sticking up in a way that should have been funny but only succeeded in looking sexy and rumpled. She let her gaze travel back down his torso, and she realized the shirt was pulled taut against his muscled chest and strained against the flex of his bicep.
Kelsey was a romance novel junkie and had read his books many times over and stared at his photo on the back just as often, but he looked ... different. Better. Hotter. Maybe if he actually resembled the awful, stuffy author headshot on the back of his books, then she wouldn't be staring at him like she'd missed breakfast, lunch, and dinner right now.
And he was staring back at her. His eyes made one long journey from her hair to her shoes and then made the return trip, stopping to look her right in the eyes.
"Wow," he said, and she actually saw the blush creep across his cheeks.
"Hi," she said, biting back the eye roll when she realized she sounded like an idiot, but it didn't stop her from continuing to stare.
"Is that for me?" Micah asked, his voice low and even, with more than a hint of a southern twang. It was a deep and rich with an edge of gravel from either too much caffeine or too little sleep. When he made to reach for the box, she snapped out of her stupor and remembered to do her job.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Holmes. I'm Kelsey Kyle, a junior concierge here at the Masquerade. May I come in?"
When he nodded and stood to the side, she entered the room, immediately looking for a spot to place the box as she conducted her business. The suite was formed in the shape of an arc, with an open living space on one side and the bed hidden behind an ornate wall. Every spot featured a stunning view of the strip, and the room also had a rooftop deck with a hot tub and sitting area.
"May I place these here for a moment, Mr. Holmes?" she asked, indicating an open spot on the long table situated behind the couch. It was the only space without something already placed on it. A laptop computer took up the coffee table, along with piles of paper and a printer. Other papers and books and newspapers were strewn over every surface in the space. It was ... a mess.
Micah Holmes was a slob, and she even thought that was hot. Jesus.
"Here, let me help you." He walked over, and she realized refusing would be wasted on a guy bred with southern gentleman manners, so she let him take the boxes and put them on the tabletop. She watched him, only ogling a little when his shirt hitched up on the side, and she got a glimpse of the top of that arrow thing above a man's hips that seemed like God's unnecessary-but-appreciated-GPS-direction to where the best bits were. He straightened up and turned quickly, and their eyes caught as she moved her gaze back to areas more appropriate for a guest of the hotel.
"Thank you, Mr. Holmes." Kelsey reached over and picked up the package meant for him, a large padded envelope that felt like a ream of paper was inside. "I need you to sign for this."
She held it out to him while she searched in her inside jacket pocket for the pen she always kept there before remembering she'd stuffed it into her other pocket earlier on during her shift. She retrieved it and looked up to hand it over when she caught him staring at her ... well, a part of her. Her breasts in particular, where they peeked out above the edge of her camisole.
Her hand remained suspended in midair as she watched his cheeks flush red when he realized he'd been caught. She lifted her lips in a tentative smile, trying to keep it on the correct side of professional but finding it hard since all of her female bits were outrageously pleased with the attention. Fraternizing with a guest was the fastest way to get your ass fired.
"Mr. Holmes," she said, raising the pen higher in to his line of sight. He shook his head slightly and took the pen from her hand, his fingers brushing against her own and tempting her to linger. If it had been off-hours, she would have held on to it, flirting as she dragged out the contact, but not right now.
"I'm sorry." He took the paper and signed it, indicating he'd received the package and handed it back to her. When he looked at her and offered her the paper, his smile was crooked, and she noticed that one of his bottom front teeth was chipped. So he wasn't perfect ... "I've lost my manners being cooped up in here for five days."
"You should get out and see the Strip. I can recommend lots of places to you. I grew up in Las Vegas."
"Oh, I'm not really a Strip kind of guy." He shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans, breaking eye contact and glancing out at the view. "I was thinking of taking a guided hike in the desert, but time got away from me."
"Well, I'm your assigned, personal concierge starting today and for the duration of the convention, so if you can squeeze in the time, I'll be happy to arrange it."
His head whipped up and he smiled, and she couldn't help but smile back as she handed him her card. His grin was ... warm, heating her up down to her bones. "My personal concierge?"
"Yes. I'll help you with whatever you need during the convention. Reservations, excursions, assistance at conference events. You call me, and I'll help you. Okay, Mr. Holmes?"
He examined her card and then shoved it in a pocket. His smile was still warm, his gaze roaming a little. She fought the urge to make sure her hair still looked good and her skirt was straight. It didn't matter what she looked like; he wasn't a prospective boyfriend. He was a guest.
"Call me Micah," he said.
"I can't," she said, rushing to explain when he frowned. "We aren't allowed to call guests by their first names."
"Oh, okay," he said, his brow scrunched up like he was going to argue. "I don't want to get you in trouble."
"I appreciate that, Mr. Holmes." She had to admit to herself that it sounded dumb using his full name when he was only five or six years older, but those were the rules for the job she needed to get back to sooner rather than later. She resisted the urge to check her watch and patted the top of her remaining delivery. "Well, I need to get these to the guests down the hall. I'm here until eight tonight, and after that the on-duty concierge will help you or you can leave a message for me to retrieve tomorrow. Sound good?"
Kelsey turned and lifted the box from the table, and she felt and heard it as the bottom ripped open. Like one of those scenes in a movie, everything slowed down to a crawl as the dildos, butt plugs, and things she didn't know what they did — or where they went — fell all over the floor. Some of them switched on, buzzing like bumblebees as they rolled and bounced and spread out like sexual floodwaters across the marble floor.
"Oh my God," she yelled, dropping the box and hitting her knees on the floor as she desperately tried to scoop them all back into the container at once.
"What the hell?" Micah landed on the floor beside her, joining in the mission to capture the escaping sex toys. His long arms had better reach than she did but there were so many. Red, yellow, pink, black, and even purple glitter in every shape, length, and size imaginable.
They both reached out and grabbed the same dildo at the same time. At least nine inches long and so big around that her fingers didn't meet, it was black with embedded gold glitter and it vibrated so hard her teeth rattled. She looked up at him and opened her mouth to apologize but had no idea what to say.
"Holy hell, Kelsey, it's like a horny Crayola box exploded all over the floor," he said with a flush in his cheeks that matched her own. He tugged on the sex toy and she released it, watching in horror as he read the tag. "Big Daddy Dildo. Use lots of lube." He grinned at her. "That's good advice, especially depending on where you plan to put it."
It was too much.
He snickered. She giggled. They both burst out in laughter, big belly laughs that brought tears to her eyes that she tried to blink back to spare her eye makeup. Micah fell back on his ass, the dildo still buzzing away in his hand as he snorted with gut-busting laughter.
It was not professional. Not the cool exterior she worked so hard to maintain on the job.
"Oh damn," he said, reaching up to wipe away his own tears and almost poked himself in the eye with the silicone cockhead. That made her laugh harder, and it continued for several long minutes until they could finally get themselves together.
"Please tell me that these aren't all yours," he said with a last snort.
She shook her head, finally catching her breath. "No. Oh God, no. The vendors from the sex toy company Love You Big Time practically collapsed in panic at my feet in the concierge office when they realized their demo items had been lost somewhere in Utah, and their usual sources were either out of stock or couldn't get them here in time. My best friend, Sarina, owns a local adult toy store, and she sent over what they needed."
"Your best friend owns a sex shop?" He picked up a cherry red butt plug and squeezed the bulb attached by a long piece of tubing, his eyes going wide and his cheeks even redder when the plug expanded. The more he squeezed the bigger it got, and she found herself wondering at what point it moved from that feels good to get it out now. "Damn. All I can think of is how much that would hurt if you overinflated it and it popped while you were ... um ... using it."
"Well, I guess you better read the directions first to make sure that doesn't happen."
"My Y chromosome makes it impossible for me to read directions. It all looks like Farsi or Martian." He jumped a little when he pressed a button and the toy deflated with a loud burp. "Jesus."
"You're excused," she said on a laugh, realizing too late she'd just made a fart joke with a guest holding an inflatable butt plug. She hoped to God this didn't make it onto the guest feedback card at the end of his trip.
"I shouldn't have had the burrito for lunch," he said, continuing his retrieval of the sex toys on the floor. She continued to snort unprofessionally when she really should get a grip on herself.
Kelsey held up the box, frowning at the bottom where it was split open along the flaps. He glanced up and peered through the opening at her.
"Hold on, I think I have a box you can use." Micah scrambled to his feet and disappeared behind the bar that separated the kitchenette area from the rest of the suite. She continued to locate the ones buzzing on the floor and turned them off as he bumped around in search of a box. "Found it! My publisher sent a few books for me to sign."
She looked up as he rounded the corner with a box about the same size as the one that had failed her so miserably. He held it out but tugged the container back when she reached out.

I really enjoyed this book, loved the characters. It was nice that that Micah wasn't the typical "alpha, arrogant " guy. Kelsey was the stronger of the two in a nice way. I will definitely be reading more by this author. Mjw
Her Secret Lover by Robin Covington introduces us to Kelsey Kyle, concierge extraordinary to a Las Vegas hotel hosting a Romance Writers convention. Kelsey is ambitious, hoping to be accepted into a management program. Micah Holmes is an introverted romance writer who finds these conventions a personal a nightmare. He is under deadline to complete a book and wants to write books about war and terrorism instead of romance. Kelsey is assigned to Micah as his assistant during the convention. Swoon worthy Micah takes one look at Kelsey and the sparks fly. The only problem is Kelsey is locked into a no fraternizing contract. However, the two decide to break, or bend the rules and explore this attraction between them. I highly recommend this book to all readers. I truly enjoyed this book and had trouble putting it down. This is a story about how love can find you when you least expect it and that all things will work out in the end.
HER SECRET LOVER is one reason why Ms. Covington's books are such a delight to read. An embarrassing but funny first meeting, strong characters who mesh from the get-go and the perfect balance of sweet and steamy are just some of what I enjoyed about this book. Kelsey Kyle is smart and ambitious, with plans for her future that would take her straight to the top. As a concierge, she's always up for the challenge of providing her VIP clients with the best experience of their stay in Vegas. When a client requests one-on-one time with her favorite romance author in exchange for providing Kelsey with a reference for the management trainee program she's had her eye on, Kelsey is willing to pull out the stops to make it happens. At least until she gets a dose of the tall, dark and sexy Micah Holmes. Getting up close and personal with hundreds of his fans at a convention is the least exciting part of his career as a romance writer but one look at his assigned concierge gives him hope that the experience won't be so bad. Unfortunately, the company's strict no-fraternization with clients policy means that Kelsey risks losing her job if she gets involved with Micah but it's a risk she's willing to take. Throw in the pressure from the sleazy, scheming client and a perfect storm of trouble is about to be unleashed. I really liked this story, especially the characters and how in tune they were with each other, both at work and at play. I like that while Micah had served as a Marine, he wasn't portrayed as a jacked-up, muscled commando, but that he was a brilliant author able to thrill his readers with his writing but slightly shy and protective of his privacy. Kelsey is a strong heroine in every sense of the word. She's independent and really dedicated to her job, and in spite of having been burned in previous relationships, she was willing to get back in the game and even take risks when she found a good thing. The connection between Kelsey and Micah was intense, the banter was fun but the passion between them was hot enough to set my tablet on fire. After reading so many books about damaged characters who fight their feelings because of past hurts, it's refreshing to read one where those past hurts don't result in self-sabotage. The best thing about this book for me was that even though both Micah and Kelsey had had bad experiences with love, their past was not the driving force behind the choices they made in their present. HER SECRET LOVER checks off all the right boxes for a sweet and fun romance for me and I'll recommend it to anyone looking for something like that. *ARC received from Entangled Publishing in return for an honest review* Kelsey Kyle is a hotel concierge who risks her job and her heart when she gets involved with romance writer Micah Holmes who is in town for the convention being held at the hotel where she works. This is an enjoyable sweet read with some steamy sex and likable characters.
I really liked this one because Micah is on shy geeky side, but with a sexy side. I just keep picturing him in glasses. I'm a sucker for a guy in glasses. What was so intriguing about Micah is that he is a romance writer at a Romance convention. He's dreading attending because Then you throw in Kesley who can't fraternize with hotel guests and she is Micah 's personal concierge, but the sparks between these will start a fire any minute. The first meeting we experience between these two captured my attention right away. The chemistry between therm is HOT! Micah has such a thoughtful side to him and the way he treats Kesley's mom would capture anyone's heart. Too bad for Kesley she's keeping a secret of why she initially approached Micah. How is he going to to react to the news? Kelsey has her job on the line in more ways than one.
Secret Lover is full of heart and heat. Simply Wonderful What a sweetly sexy romance by Robin Covington that is about two people who immediately click together but are afraid to fully let go and embrace the possibilities. It’s also about the forbidden aspect of their romance that makes this romance so enticing and the location of the story is fantastic. Kelsey Kyle works at a Las Vegas hotel where she is a concierge and she is up for promotion to the management trainee program. Kacie is given the opportunity to get a VIP customer’s endorsement for the program, she jumps at the challenge. The VIP customer happens to be Micah Holmes , a hunky and dishy romance writer and former marine who would rather be ANYWHERE ELSE but at this romance convention, this is steamy romance at its best! When Kelsey and Micah meet each other, sparks fly and the chemistry is immediate. Kelsey does hope that he would favor her and put in a good word for her promotion at first but as they continue to spend time together, she realizes that she doesn’t want to “use” Micah in that way. As things progress, their relationship goes further than either of them planned and then…the bottom falls out and Micah hears some things and gets the wrong impression of Kelsey. Will Micah ever forgive her or will he move on and never look back? OMG, I REALLY loved this book. The amount of heat and the flow of the story were awesome. Kelsey is a sweet woman who does things , not realizing how it looks. She is kind, sweet, and very people friendly. Micah is more of an introvert , masculine, and quiet. They make the best couple. I loved this story and would love to see more of the supporting characters down the road in stories. They were awesome. My rating: 4.6 stars ***** *A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review*
Great Book! This is a great book; this is part of the What Happens in Vegas series by Robin Covington. Kelsey Kyle will do anything to get into the management trainee program at the casino where she works. She is given the opportunity to get a VIP customer’s endorsement, which is arranging a one on one fan experience with the woman’s favorite author, Micah Holmes. Micah Holmes has to spend a week at a Vegas romance readers’ convention, when he meets Kelsey he feels the immediate attraction to her. If you are looking for a great romance then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book by this wonderful author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
I am a big fan of Robin Covington so I was excited when I heard she had a new one coming out! Although this story did not captivate me like some of hers have, it is still a good story and I think she did well with it. Kelsey is trying to get into the management trainee program at her current job at the casino, and she will do just about anything to help her get into this program. Will she be able to violate one of the big no-no's in order to help herself or will she realize that breaking the rules is not always worth it? When Kelsey is put in charge of a Micah, a romance writer, she has some hard decision to make. Micah is not a fan of going to romance writer's conventions. He thinks that all they are is women swooning over him and his characters and doing crazy stuff. When Micah sees Kelsey though, he thinks that this one may just be different for him. How far will he be able to go and what will he be able to get away with? There is plenty of steamy romance in this one that will keep you turning the pages. Read this story to find out what happens between Micah and Kelsey!
From the very first page of this new release that I was able to review I knew that it was going to be a book that I would remember for a long time. Robin Covington has crafted an amazing story that is smokin hot with characters that you just absolutely fall for. I can't really express what it is about the book that makes it so different. I love the twist on the Las Vegas story. I love the character development. I love the male lead with his sweet West Virginia manners, his shyness, and his ability to take romance to a whole different level. I love the fact that he's not afraid to recognize that this girl is different and someone special. The author brings us an tantalizing story that takes love to a whole new level with steamy hot scenes that are oh, so memorable. Whew! I don't even know how to explain what it is about this book that makes it stand out for me. Other than the authors skilled and detailed descriptions that transport you to another level. What I do know is I fell in love with this book! I fell in love with the authors writing and I fell in love with the fact that she wasn't afraid to develop characters that are cognizant of their feelings for one another regardless of the cost. So if you're looking for a book that has every element romance readers love you've gotta check out this one. I don't give five stars very often but this book has every element that I look for and it's not one to be missed.
This book was a real page turner and I completely fell in love with Micah - and his T-shirts. The chemistry he and Kelsey has is instantaneous. She is quickly put into a situation that could easily cost her either her job or her future career. Micah is a romance author attending a conference and staying in the hotel where she works as a concierge. There is a strict no fraternization policy, but they are drawn to each other regardless of rules. Another guest - a rather influential one - has an outlandish request that she's not sure she can (or wants to) make happen. I enjoyed watching them fall in love and trying to navigate the situation and keep their attraction as well as their spending time together hidden from any hotel staff. There are no real surprising twists, but the entertainment value alone is worth the read. It'll add another BBF to your list - one you won't want to let go of. I received a copy via NetGally for review.
Another fantastic book by Robin Covington. Kelsey Kyle is a junior concierge at a fancy hotel in Las Vegas. Micah Holmes is a romance writer in town for a romance convention. Kelsey is assigned to Micah for the convention. She also has a high roller whose trophy wife is Micah's biggest fan. If Kelsey can get her the exclusive one on one she wants with Micah, her husband will put in a good word to fast track Kelsey into the management program she's wanted for the longest time. Once Kelsey starts getting to know Micah, she's torn between the job she desperately wants and the man she's starting to fall for. This was such a great story with so many great characters. I would recommend it to anyone.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Loved. This. Book. It is “THE BOOK”; the one you can’t get enough of and has everything in it that you could possibly ask for all wrapped up nice and pretty with a supa sexy cover to boot. Yes, the ending came way too soon for me; even though it was closed perfectly at the end, I just wasn’t ready for it to be over. Her Secret Lover by Robin Covington is a marvelous read! It’s witty, bold, and in your face sexy with characters that connect so well they practically melt your e-reader. Guaranteed to take you to your reading happy place!!!! Way to go Ms. Covington...my new go-to author!
gifted copy by author in exchange for an honest review. A fun, flirty Vegas read that incorporates ever romance readers favorite things, hot men, authors, conventions and adult toys. Robin does hot very well, and this book Is no exception! Once again, it is well written, and never dull. Spunky heroine with a strong mind and kind demeanor. She's not afraid to push for what's right but also to push the limits a bit. She's fun and has a great community of friends. He's a bit softer in his persona and a bit on the shy side, but not when alone with the heroine. It makes for interesting "adult" time. Thanks for the opportunity to read this in advance!
Her Secret Lover, Robin Covington Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Romance I’;m writing this review ahead of publication, its actually 24th December and yesterday I wanted something light and easy to read, something I knew I’d enjoy, that would take away a bit of Xmas stress....I’m sure lots know that feeling, not just Xmas but other family holiday times. Anyway, I knew I liked Robin’s writing style so this one came out first choice. Its a fun read, perfect blend of hot and sensual romance with a hint of vulnerability from both leads. I loved Kelsey, love the way she was devoted to her sick mum and determined to help her dad support her. Getting the promotion to management training would make a huge difference. Then one of the hotels High Roller customers wants a one on one fan day for his wife with author Micah Holmes who’s staying there at a Romance Writers Convention. He hates publicity though, really struggles with that side of fame and has so far always refused to do a one on one day. If Kelsey can somehow swing it her promotion would be guaranteed, conversely its indicated that if she doesn’t get it fixed it won’t go well for her. They’re not a couple used to being turned down. They added yet another edge to the novel, I really enjoyed them as part of the story. Reminded me of some people I’ve met in the past! Micah is lovely, a really genuine man, though jaded from his past experience with romance. Despite writing about True Love and making millions from it he doesn’t believe that for him at least it exists. Then he meets Kelsey, his assigned concierge for the duration of his stay – wow – what a great introduction they had. What an icebreaker – it made me snigger... a lot! The attraction on both sides is instant but they hide it, Kelsey because it’d mean she loses her job and she’s had bad past experiences, and Micah – well, he’s kind of gobsmacked and confused. He doesn’t usually get that kind of reaction to meeting someone. Eventually of course they both admit their feelings, and they manage to covertly have some very sensual and erotic encounters, though they’ve both agreed its a short term just till Sunday fling, but both are feeling more than just attraction. Kelsey still has the fan day experience to arrange though, it never seems the right time to ask, and the closer they get the more she can’t bring herself to do it – but she really needs that promotion. It doesn’t help that the lady making the request is ....well, you’ll have to read but I loved it, and it added an edge to what seems like a simple request. Of course secrets always come out at the wrong time, and what her friends had warned her about happens, and that leads to some intense drama and disaster for Kelsey. I love drama that plays out over time, that hits just at the right moment, right at the peak of attraction and developing feelings, and this was timed perfectly. I was waiting all the way through, thinking “ is this going to be where it gets out?” at several opportunities, but Robin keeps the reader waiting till the perfect time. I was so upset for both of them, what they had was special, more than just the attraction of lust. Stars: Five,it’s a fun read, with some heat and drama in it. Its got a perfect ending too – fits really well with what had previously been discussed. I’m not sure I’d reread it but as a one off it was perfect for me. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers
4 solid stars I really enjoyed Her Secret Lover, it was sweet, fun and very entertaining read. Loved both Kelsey and Micah, they were likable and well developed characters. They had amazing chemistry and their sexy times were HOT! *fans self* The drama towards the end was handled well and I was very happy how it was resolved. Overall Her Secret Lover was a well written romance with an entertaining storyline with great characters that will having you turning the pages until the end. I highly recommend this book and if you've not had the pleasure of reading Robin Covington's work before I urge you to start now, love her writing and all her books have been very entertaining.
To say I loved this story would be an understatement. I fell for Micah the minute I heard black glasses and tusseled hair. And the cherry on top is he is a Marine who writes romance. Hello perfect man! He was shy, introverted, not comfortable with public attention but possessive and dirty talking. Goodness he was hot. Throw in a feisty, beautiful, caring, ambitious strong woman who helped provide for her mother and this book is now a favorite. Their story had such heart, such sensuality, friendship and a chemistry that was explosive. I loved this story from beginning to end and devoured it quickly. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
Her Secret Lover is a fun and sexy story with a touch of sweetness. Though it did feel like Kelsey and Micah moved a bit too quickly at first, especially given the forbidden nature of their relationship, I soon got swept into the story and forgot all about my initial misgivings. Kelsey was especially great at helping the sometimes-awkward-around-fans Micah to deal with the pressures that a reader's convention brings on authors--I loved the scenes where she drew him out of himself and helped him to show fans his best side. Darn, that girl was good at her job--and at knowing her customers. Of course, she got to know Micah a little too well... Though that worked out for them. And for the reader ;) But I have to say--super-fan chick was beyond creepy. Hopefully Ms. Covington didn't get that bit from real life, because ugh. (shudder) I'm definitely going to have to get caught up on this series--ASAP! I've never had any desire to go to Vegas, but this series might just change my mind :) Rating: 4 stars / B+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Steamy lovestruck romance! With instant attraction, rules to be kept or broken, a manipulative diva out to have her own way and a brilliant author and you just know this is going to be a great addition to the ‘What Happens in Vegas’ series! This time, take a local lass, Kelsey Kyle, who is up for promotion at the hotel where she’s a concierge. Make it her job to ensure that one of the stars of the Vegas romance readers’ convention has everything he needs and then let him be her favourite hot romance author, an ex military man, a hunk who would really rather be somewhere else – in fact just about anywhere else – but definitely not at a romance writer’s convention with crying, adoring and manipulative fans! Have the two of them been instantly attracted to each other then throw in a manipulative man-eater who is out to have a very personal one-on-one experience with him and things just aren’t going to go smoothly! Kelsey is a feisty, independent and innovative young lady, used to organising and getting things sorted. Micah is an enigma, a man capable of writing enthralling, romantic stories that are adored by readers but reticent about relating to them individually and with a traumatic experience of love that has left him personally wary, despite how he writes. The two are great, complex characters with plenty of angst and turmoil making them more believable. Kelsey’s friends are also great characters, especially Sabrina. The plot is well formed and developed, with plenty of history to keep the reader enthralled. If you like your romance to be steamy, your hero a nerdy, combat wounded ex-Marine hunk and your heroine a hardworking, determined and considerate young lady you’ll love this entertaining Vegas romance. Thanks again to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for gifting me an ecopy of this book in exchange for this, my honest review.
Kelsey Kyle will do whatever it takes to get into the management trainee program at the casino where she works. So when she’s given the opportunity to get a VIP customer’s endorsement for the program, she jumps at the challenge. All she needs to do is arrange a one-on-one fan experience with the woman’s favorite author, tall-dark-and-intense Micah Holmes. An entire week at a Vegas romance readers’ convention, surrounded by hundreds of people, is Micah Holmes’ idea of hell. But one look at Kelsey, his assigned hotel concierge, and the attraction is immediate. Maybe this week won’t be so bad after all… Anything beyond a “strictly professional” relationship will get Kelsey fired, but she needs to get close to Micah to get the super fan experience her client wants. Hot sex in her apartment pool begins a game of “undercover lover” that quickly escalates to something more. But when Micah discovers her secret agenda, all bets are off. Review: I have read other stories by this Author and I know I can count on them to be fun to read and sexy. This is no exception. First thing, I love that the hero is a romance writer. It brings all kind of fun scenarios and that he is more of an introvert makes scenes where he is interacting with his adoring fans more fun to read. He is a true romantic at heart, but was burned by his first wife so he is a little cautious. Kelsey is cautious from past burns too, plus she has her job to loose if she fraternizes with clients. Micah and Kelsey together are sexy and the chemistry is palpable. Having been to a few RT conventions, I found it fun that it is centered around a romance convention and that the next RT is in Vegas made it more fun for me to read. The dialog that the Author uses for her characters is fun to read and that is a big attraction for me when reading a book. This is as a stand-alone and I won't go into a lot of the plot, just because it is a shorter read. On a side note, I love the cover and wish I had the body to wear that dress! This truly is a sexy, fun, romantic, quick read. This Author is one of my auto-buys and recommend this read. 4Stars *Received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for fair and honest review.*
This is a well written, quick story with a lot of steamy times. Micah is a somewhat geeky, reserved, hunky writer. While Kelsey is a strong, smart, capable, confident woman. The exact opposite of Micah. Their immediate attraction is undeniable and the chemistry is hot. The inclusion of humor and a little angst creates an enjoyable read. What do you get when a sexy male romance writer, Michah meets up with the hotel concierge, Kelsey at a romance convention in Vegas? A page turning hot sexy read that I could not put down. Love the chemistry between this couple, they are thrown a few obstacles but their true love will hold out for each other. This is a great addition to the series of What Happens in Vegas, written by different authors. I highly recommend this book. I received ARC from the author for an honest review.
Micah Holmes is stepping out of his comfort zone and making a visit to Las Vegas for the annual Romance Book Convention. After leaving his military career behind he decided to take on the art of writing romance novels full time, and so far he has been quite successful at it, so much so, he's considered a VIP at the convention. And with that kind of prestige comes special privileges, and in this instance means he has his own personal concierge, and after meeting her he is instantly intrigued with her and left with an intense desire to know more about her, but she isn't allowed to fraternize with the guests, which means she is hands off... Kelsey Kyle would do just about anything to advance at her job and have the opportunity to move up into the manager's trainee program. So, when she is asked to perform a little favor and get a client a personal one on one visit with the famed romance writer Micah Holmes she is willing to go above and beyond to work herself into Micah's good graces and give her client the experience she desires, but as soon as she sets her sights on Micah her world is knocked off it's axis...the instant chemistry they have leaves her with desire to cross lines she knows she shouldn't. Love knows no bounds and in her case crossing these bounds will put her a risk of losing the job she loves... This short, but oh so sweet and sexy story captured my attention right from the start and had me flying right through the pages.... it was so addictive! The chemistry between Kelsey and Micah burned brightly from start to finish, and also helped to create some very steamy encounters that had me reaching for the nearest fan!! Ms. Covington has definitely outdone herself with this one...it is HOT! HOT! HOT! Her Secret Lover by Robin Covington hit the jackpot for me. Oh my...Robin has gave us a winning hand with this fun, sweet, sexy and fast pace read, I could not put it down. Kelsey a beautiful hotel employee and Micah the hot sexy former Marine now romance author. I loved this story so much, it had me laughing on the first page and glued to find out what happens next. You will definitely not want to miss this one, it is a must read. I was given an ARC by publisher via NetGalley, for my honest review.
Kelsey Kyle is trying to advance her career and to do that she need author Micah Holmes to do a one on one fan experience. Kelsey thinks this will advance her in the management trainee program at the casino that she is working at. Micah Holmes who has dreaded being in Las Vegas with a bunch of Romance Readers finds that maybe this won't be so bad when he sets his eyes on Kelsey. But Kelsey cannot get personal with the 'customers/clients' or she could loose her job. But the attraction is to much for them to resist... ;-)
This is a page turner. The best contemporary romance novel I've read this year. Kelsey and Micah have undeniable chemistry and I loved their characters. This is a love story of a famous romance writer and his concierge during his stay at a hotel in Vegas. Both are wary of the opposite sex but decided to take a chance on each other, not a good idea considering how busy Micah is with his book and how Kelsey can lose her job if their affair becomes known at the hotel. Her carrier will be in danger. Kelsey is very good at her job and she happens to enjoy it too. She is the best in her hotel and whenever there is any difficult guests in residence she is the one who handles them. This time though things she might not be able to deal with the situation without getting hurt. Her job is simple to keep the guests happy. Sometimes it isn't as easy as it may sound. Some guests just ask for the impossible things. Right now she is dealing with one such guest. The problem is that this time her heart is on the line as well... Micah is an introvert. He likes to keep to himself which isn't easy considering that he has hoards of fans every where. That is a con of being a famous romance writer. As much as he loves his fans it is not easy for him to spend one on one time with them. as long as he has a script he can stick to it's all good but as soon as things get real he becomes nervous. But this time Kelsey is there to help him. She has become more than his go-to girl and now there might be more at stake than just his comfort... A beautifully written romance novel, this is a must read for all book lovers.
