Gathered over the course of thirty years, this book is the culmination of the author's love of poetry. With a variety of forms and a wide range of subject matter, the author attempts to cut through the superficiality and hectic pace of modern life and create for the reader something quiet to be sipped by the fireside. The author believes that the greatest values in human life are those of the spiritual, the unique moments in time when we try to touch that which is eternal. Thus is his title, Here, I Am. Some of the works herein were written during his teenage years; others are more current. All have evolved into their present state from a slow process, during the author's quieter times as a form of refuge, creating a way to make sense of himself and the world around him. The author wishes to share his thoughts and feelings at this time with others, who he hopes in turn will preserve his insights for future generations.
