About the Author

Michelle L. Levigne has been a story addict for as long as she can remember, discovering Narnia and Star Trek at an early age, and becoming addicted to Greek mythology. After discovering fandom in college, she published 40+ short stories in various SF and fantasy universes. She has a BA in theater/English from Northwestern College and a MA in communication, focused on film and writing from Regent University.
In 1990, she broke into the public market when she won 1st place in the 4th quarter of the Writers of the Future contest. It took another 10 years before her first book contract, for Heir of Faxinor. Since then, Michelle has published 60+ books and novellas with multiple e-publishers, in science fiction and fantasy, YA, and many sub-genres of romance. She has been a finalist in the EPIC Awards competition multiple times, winning with Lorien in 2006, and The Meruk Episodes, 1-5, in 2010.
Her training includes the Institute for Children's Literature, advertising, a stint with a community newspaper, and freelance editing for small presses and a major business publisher.

I can imagine that like me you have heard the saying: "Don't judge a book by its cover." Before I share my thoughts, I have to confess that I originally did with "Hero Blues." I seriously misjudged this book based off the busy cover because it was an awesome superhero adventure! I found the beginning to be quite entertaining! It felt like it slightly lagged a little bit after the beginning, but Michelle did a wonderful job of making me want my questions answered. I might have struggled reading in a few spots, but I was determined to get answers alongside Jane. Romance is not something I always enjoy, but I immensely enjoyed this one. I found myself rooting for a certain someone and seeing a relationship unfold. The tension between Jane and that certain someone was funny at times, but also sweet. A few other things I loved about this novel that I would like to mention: the overall story, some of the characters having "superpowers" (this was my first superhero read and it went well beyond my expectations) and how they used those powers. I also really liked the large thread of mystery woven throughout the story and the "magic" surrounding Angela. Overall, this was a very great read and one I would recommend to those who are looking for an interesting story with a hint of mystery. *(I received this novel from the author via Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts expressed are my own and was not required to write a positive review.)*
