Overview

The saga of dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden has become a fixture in the fantasy genre, with a string of New York Times best-selling novels going back to 1988. Hero is the follow-up to Maestro and Archmage, and final book in the Homecoming trilogy.

Something akin to "peace" has come to the Underdark. The demon hordes have receded, and now the matron mothers argue over the fate of Drizzt Do'Urden. Even so, it becomes clear to one matriarch after another that while the renegade drow may come and go Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders will crawl forever on.

And so Drizzt is free to return to his home on the surface once again. Scores are settled as lives are cut short, yet other lives move on. For the lone drow there is only a single final quest: a search for peace, for family, for home—for the future.

Hero picks up where Maestro left off, in a sweeping climax to an epic tale.

It has an ending that can open the world for more adventures or just close the door say good night.

Salvatore does it again. The last page alone, makes it worth reading.

This book breaks open the door to so many possibilities. If you have been keeping up with the series, then the stories of several key characters are awesome as we watch them transition into something more. Big events take place in this one too. Seems like the book could have used more chapters near the end as it felt a little rushed. That last page though...man...I need more!

I started reading Salvatore when i was probly 12 or so, i have been hooked ever since Homeland. He has an amazing way of describing battle and detail, while mixing in two or three seperate plots from new characters that always collide and intertwine to fullest effect. I hope anyone who hasn't experienced the saga of Drizzt and the companions of the hall will buy Homeland(start at the beginning chronalogically like i did, since the crystal shard was actuallywritten first) and enjoy the expansive series including 33 books and counting. Well worth the reads! Thanks and enjoy!

I love reading about Drizzt and the companions. I wish they could be made into a television or movie series. Please continue writing about them. I would like to read about both of Gomphs daughters getting together and working with the Companions

Having not read the previous books there were parts that were confusing and boring. Specifically, the pages that addressed house this and house that and who would be elevated and who would not. Yawn!!!

As an avid fan of R.A. Salvatore’s series on Drizzt Do’ Urden, I find myself constantly captivated at the way the story continues to grow in epic scale and yet remains beautifully captivating. The man is truly a master storyteller. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting down with one of the novels in this series, or any other writing by him.

How this man can keep us reading about a particular drow elf is beyond me. Main plot is of course the best parts of the book while the side plots do seem weak at times but they all converge at the end. I have now idea how this story will continue but that for Salvatore to surprise us.
