Spies concentrates on the most well-known tales of the Greek heroes. She has included chapters on Hercules and Jason and Atlanta to name just a few. An expert commentary and question-and-answer section that comes after the chapter supplements each chapter. She explores the relationship between the ancient Heroes and modern day fairy tales. This book will be a gold mine for the older researcher. It would also be marvelous for a teacher to use since it includes a question and answer section, maps, and fabulous preface. It would have been nicer if there had been more illustrations, and they had been in color instead of black and white.
