The essentials line is a refreshing lowering of the barriers to entry for new 4th edition players. Without sacrificing any of the potential richness of the ruleset, Essentials provides character options that allow players, new and old, to start adventuring more quickly and avoid the potential "powers overload" that some folks encounter when delving into 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons. [This review is identical to my other "Heroes" Essentials review as the two products are complements, identical at their core, complementary in their class offerings]

Clear, concise, and informative. New characters, new stats and new information on each will help the player develop and deepen the game play experience. Get the latest information on new character classes for any race one chooses to play. The Sentinel Druid, the Hunter Ranger, the Hexblade Warlock can be adapted for drow, dragonborn, tiefling, halforc, and half elf or human. New spells, god/goddess' and more. All in an easy to read and reference edition. Lots of great illustrations, and loads of fun.
