Overview

Heroes & Villains is the worthy and meticulously assembled sequel to Not All Heroes Wear Capes, producer Metro Boomin's chart-topping 2018 album debut as a headliner. As on the preceding set, 21 Savage and Travis Scott are key players, and this time, longtime Metro partner Future is involved, appearing on as many tracks (four) as his contemporaries. Aided by over a dozen co-producers, Metro mostly sticks to subtle variations on his reliably heady and cinematic trap sounds. The deviations are usually effective, none more so than "Creepin'," a suitably downcast Weeknd (and 21 Savage) collaboration based partly on Mario Winans' 2004 hit "I Don't Wanna Know." ~ TiVo Staff
