About the Author

My best friend calls me "her Fairy Godmother," but I feel more like Cinderella. After over twenty-five years of living a typical life, I now live my dreams and I create them too.
Nothing is better than creating a brand new world from a blank piece of paper. Breathing life into characters and watching their stories unfold-I am truly blessed.
I live in on eight acres in middle Tennessee with my husband, my dad, one of my three children, two dogs and three cats. I am privileged to have two precious grandsons.
When I'm not on my computer or reading my kindle, you'll usually find me in the kitchen. I love to cook! If I'm not there, I'm on the fields, watching my grandsons' soccer or baseball games.
It's never too late to chase your dreams. I'm proof you can catch them, even if arthritis slows you down. Who knows, your own Fairy Godmother may be just a dream away.

I really enjoyed this book and loved the world that Tamara Hoffa created. Not only was there a fun love story between Bern and Jenna, but the mystery and suspense when the kidnapping occurs kept this story moving. I loved the secondary characters as well, and can’t wait to learn more about Martin and the Doctor, as well as Sebastian and Alice – I just know there is going to be a great story with that one!  From Bern’s first line – “I am Bern, and you are mine” – it was clear Bern was going to be a lot of fun. Jenna was perfect for Bern, and what she may have lacked in experience she more than made up for with her attitude. I loved how she had no problem standing up to Bern which, considering he is the leader of his clan, made her the perfect mate. The two of them together were sweet, had me laughing, and certainly could bring on the heat. I am really intrigued with where this story left off and can’t wait to find out what happens next. Several stories have been set up nicely and I’m sure they’ll all prove to be just as captivating as Hers to Bear. This story really had a nice balance of romance and suspense within its paranormal setting, and was a solid read. I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

3.5 *Book source ~ Free on Amazon Jenna Raynes is the new kindergarten teacher in Honey Corners, West Virginia. Shifters have come out to the public and Honey Corners is predominantly a werebear community and Jenna loves it there. When Bern Helms walks into the local grocery store and claims her as his mate, Jenna’s whole life changes. She goes from the girl who had never been kissed to the girl who landed a hunk of burning bear love. There’s a decent story in here if it could only be edited a bit more. Jenna constantly doubting her big self and her ability in landing a strong handsome bear is tedious, but the truly awful part is Bern calling her “little one” in every single sentence out of his mouth. Ok, I’m not sure if it was every one, but it’s damn near every one. It’s like having an author constantly calling people by their name in dialogue. Who does that? This “little one” thing bugged me so much by about 1/3 of the book I just wanted to stop and rate it a DNF. I like the world and the characters so I slogged on, but my rating reflects my irritation over this issue. I’m not sure I want to continue with this series. I may give book 2 a try, but if I see endearments out of control, I’m outta there.

It was hard for me to read this book especially in the beginning. The writing doesn't flow smoothly and seems choopy at best plus, the whole book is spaced after every paragraph. I felt like I was reading a school students essay. The language went from formal to plain speaking with some dirty talk thrown in and all without any natural flow. It was supposed to be 191 pages but can't possibly be with all of the spacing throughout the book plus, the ending shares an exerpt from the next book in the series. This exerpt is repeated at least 15 or more times and over many pages. The story really needed more character development without the character's falling in love almost at first sight. Not a very well developed book IMO. ..................................................................................................................................

Reviewed by Kim for Read Your Writes Book Reviews I loved figuring out the fantasy world Tamara Hoffa has created for her Animal in Me Series. The small town of Honey Corners, West Virginia where werebears, humans, and wolves live is the perfect setting for Hers to Bear. The hero and heroine of this story are likeable and endearing. Add to the mix a slew of secondary characters and you have the making for a wonderful story and series. Werebear and clan leader, Bern Helms comes off as being an insanely over the top alpha. Turns out, it’s just the “bear” in him, coming out when he sees his mate Jenna for the first time. Jenna Raynes is a human who has only been in Honey Corners for a short time after accepting a Kindergarten teaching position. I found their first meeting to be comical, to say the least. One of the main reasons I wanted to read this book was for the suspense factor. I truly thought there was going to be more of it but there wasn’t. I will say that the suspense left an opening to an ending you aren’t going to see coming and will have you waiting for the next book. I’m no stranger to reading steamy romances that are in your face with language and visual imaginary however, I have to admit that I find certain words offensive and felt that one word in particular should have landed on the cutting board. I was actually surprised that the whole book took place over the course of a week at best. A lot definitely happened in what should have been weeks or months. Overall, for her first time writing a paranormal romance, with suspense elements, I think Tamara Hoffa did a wonderful job. Now, I’m going to be patiently or not so patiently waiting for the next book in the series. **A copy was received courtesy of Secret Craving Publishing in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.**

Hers to Bear (Animal In Me Book 1) by Tamara Hoffa Fantastic! I absolutely loved this read. Some might say that the emotional feelings are made known to soon, but we are talking fated mates here! If it is meant to be..then so be it. Life is to short (for us humans at least). Sometimes you just have to face it, own it and jump in feet first. Anyway, this book has a lot going on. Not to much to keep track of, but there are no lulls in the storyline. Jenna is a wonderful character. Not all wishy washy, but not a bulldozer either. The perfect in between. She moves to Honey Corners, West Virginia to start a life of her own. She was surprised to get the Kindergarten teacher position in a shifter community, her being a human, but she loves her kids and Honey Corners. But the surprises just keep on coming. Bern, yep he's an Alpha male, but not to much of one. Making nice with Wolf pack and keeping tabs on the HUNTS members in the area keep Bern pretty busy. Now he has Jenna to protect too. When shifter kids go missing in the middle of the night from the wolf pack and the bear clan, as well as Jenna.....the hunt is on. It will take more then an Alpha Bear to set things right. *given by author for an honest review*

This was the first bear shifter story I've read, and I really enjoyed it. The speed at which Jenna and Bern's relationship progressed gave me a little anxiety, but it made sense for the length of the story. I think if the book was longer, I would have enjoyed more hesitancy on Jenna's side. How would Bern have reacted if Jenna wasn't open to the whole "mates for life don't try to fight it" thing and dated someone else? Bloodshed, probably. As it was, I thought everything fit very well for how much happened. I also loved all of the characters, especially Alice, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here. ***I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the goodreads group Lovers of Paranormal (LoP)***

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!  ***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review from the Lovers of Paranormal group The cover is fierce and sweet all at the same time!  Definitely attracts a shifter reader to grab it!! Okay this is the first book in the series, and it is about 170ish pages.  Of course this is a shifter romance, so I’m immediately partial to it as that is my favorite kind of read.  This is definitely adult onlys since there are several very steamy scenes. Okay I don’t usually read the dedication, but sometimes it catches my eye and I do.  This one caught my eye, and I was bonding with the author before I finished reading it because she likes the same type of books I do and feels the same way about some of my favorite authors.  I also loved how she described her husband :)   Jenna is easy to love especially being a kindergarten teacher.  Props to any teacher who can keep the attention of that many little people ;)  Being a teacher myself, it is easy to connect and respect Jenna’s character even though she is an imaginary colleague ;)  Bern comes on like a bear…lol  love my pun, but you have to see why I say this by reading the story.  He is strong, loyal, sweet, and sexy which makes him awesome.  I definitely think I would have reacted similar to Jenna which of course helped in the connections.  Her best friend Alice is just hilarious, and I love her fierce protectiveness of her best friend.  I hope I get to see more of all of these characters in the future books of this series.  Tamara fills the story with her own quirky sense of humor which reminds me of Shelly Laurenston, but it is still uniquely Tamara.  I laugh when authors can make me laugh out loud and people around me ask what is so funny.  She filled the pages with emotion that made it easy to connect with her characters that I love and want more of.  I can already see that she has three possible stories or matings lined up which makes me very happy because I soooo want more of this world she created.  Her story also has bad guys who I already want to squash, and it is very realistic because it is probably true that some people would think just like those same bad guys.  At any rate, I was gripped in the story until the end and didn’t want to put it down.  Her style and humor make it easy to love the story, and I think it will only get better and better as the series goes. I highly recommend this to shifter lovers who love humor mixed in with their reads especially if you love authors like Shelly Laurenston, Lora Leigh, and other similar authors.  I can’t wait for of this series!!!

This is by far my favorite tale of Tamara Hoffa's. Humor and shifters and a wonderful romantic tale. Bern shows his origin by the inflection and the turn of phrases he uses. The personalities of Bern and Jenna shine in this must read Bear shifter tale!
